I just downloaded the trial for the second time. The first thing I noticed was the community. The chat is very active, and I have yet to meet a rude player. Everyone is helpful. It feels like a perfect mix between WoW(solo ability) and EQ. Thankfully, the game seems to lean a lot more towards EQ.

I played a Cleric up to level 3 and then switched to a bard. I like the bard and I love the way songs are handled in this game. However, I'm unsure as to what class I want to play. I always like being the healer, and I just came back from another stint in EQ as a cleric. I've been trying to scratch the EQ itch for a while, and I can't enjoy the game anymore. Are the Clerics the gods of healing they were in EQ? Also, how is their solo ability? I don't expect to be blazing through mobs, but I would love the ability to solo while waiting for a group. So, is the cleric the class for me if I want to be able to heal extremely well and find groups quickly?

The next thing I tried out was crafting. It seems really good, despite one bug with an npc. How extensive is the crafting system? I saw a video on player boats, are those still in the game? Are they player crafted? I'm just looking for a brief description on the player house, boats and crafting.

Thanks in advance guys, the games been really fun and Im sure I'll be subscribing.

Well this is disapointing, came back and some a lot of replies, but half of them are just troll posts from LordZon. Thanks for all the help from the others though. I think im gonna pay for a month and just mess around and see if anything grabs my attention.

Did you even read my post? I am looking for help on production..

I have been debating about coming back to EVE Online. I played for a few months, and I mostly mined/missioned. I got to a mining barge and a battlecruiser in L 3 missions. I enjoyed the game, but I became bored of it for some reason. I picked up EQ and dual boxed that for a month just for some old memories. I have been playing WotLK, but I am looking for something more challenging. Even with the achievement system in WoW, it doesn't scratch the itch for a more challenging gameplay. I really enjoyed the risk vs reward in EVE Online.

I want to come back to Eve and get into some production/trade. I don't really care if I am not making tons of isk, I just want to do something new. I was looking into producing T2 ammo in highsec and then running it into low sec. Is this a good idea? I don't really know much about production though. What exactly do I need to do to set this up? I guess I am just looking for some basic advice on production as it seems I have already decided to return to EVE. Thanks in advance guys!

Nevermind, found the answer. Apparently the offer was over 4 years old >.<

Everquest had platinum, gold, silver and copper, platinum being the most valuabe. In trades, people only based value of items on plat. Sorry if this isn't what you were asking.

I started playing EQ with my brother right when Ruins of Kunark came out. I was 10 years old when I played. I loved the game because it was the first game that I could meet people. However, I never got past level 14. I created dozens and dozens of alts because I would see a high level character decced out in great gear and think how cool that class was. Remember, I was 10. I never got to fully experience the game. I'm going to be coming back for at least a month to fully experience the game that I loved in my childhood. What classes would be best to dual box? I want to be able to solo most things. I'll be coming back with no gear. I was thinking Shaman/Monk. Any greal dual boxing combos out there? Thanks in advance guys.

EDIT: If I go War/Sham, am I going to have a bad warrior since I don't have any awesome weapons with procs?

Are there variety of skills like in eq1 or is it the same skills like fireball 1 2 and 3 in wow? I know wizards where like this but im not sure about other classes.

I think this is one of the best things about EQ2. With my fury, I never just spam one heal. I use my multiple group heals, direct heals, and hots. Unlinke in WoW, where my  paladin is forced to just spam Flash of Light throughout the whole raid. So, my raiding would consist of spamming the 2 key for FoL. Mindnumbingly boring.

Yes my computer easily passes the minimum system requirements. I have all my drivers. I have a nvidia 7600

I select a server to play, and I get to the select a race screen. It has "Choose a Race" and then it has a box for the order and destruction. It lists in text the description and name of each race, but I cant actually pick a race. There are no graphics for the race, everything else is black besides the description. I can also see a server select button in the bottom left corner. I have tried various servers of varying populations. How the hell do I actually choose my race?

EDIT: This is what my character selection screen looks like. Yes, ive tried it in full screen and several different resolutions to see if that would solve the problem. http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/donutman40/war-1.jpg

Yes I realize that, but in 2008, it is nothing special (to me) - infact it was rather horrid.

Sure the first car was awsome and revolutionary, but if you want a good ride, would you take a model-T over a Viper?

Yes thats true xephonics, but you don't critizice the model-T for not having the awesome engine that a Viper has because it was created way before the Viper's engine. Same with EQ and other current MMORPGS. You can't critize EQ for not having the super graphics because when it was first created, no game could have/run those graphics. EQ was groundbreaking for its day. It paved the way for other MMORPGS. Thats why EQ is great.

I was thinking about playing EQ2 when the new expansion comes out in november.

I've been too disappointed with what MMO's have come out with lately.

Same here, I'm afraid WotLK will just be a repeat of the BC. I'm sure WAR is extremely similar to WoW. What I miss about EQ2 is staying up until 2 am grinding on giants with a group. I like how EQ2 encourages grouping.

I've played EQ2 over the summer and got my Fury up to 42. Recently, ive become bored of WoW, and I don't want to get WAR. I bought AoC at launch, and because that was a major flop, I refuse to buy any MMORPG at launch now. Should I come back to EQ2? Has the population dropped significantly? I don't expect there to be millions, but as long as I don't feel like im playing a single player game I'll be fine.

Even if he does have two 80s, what did he expect? He blazed through the content to rush to the endgame, when most of the players aren't at the endgame yet.

If you have an extra buddy pass, just email it to me at donutman447@yahoo.com
Thanks!

I'm not sure how well that would bode if they tried to mix 360 servers with the PC version servers. Kind of hard to make an exactly identical game for two completely different types of systems, which is what they would need to do if they plan on sharing both servers.

And depending on how they charge for the 360 version, can depend. If you only pay by subscribing to xbox live (which is like what, $50 a year?) then the population of this game, at least of 360 players, will increase dramatically, just for the fact that it is cheaper. If there's an additional charge then there isn't too much to worry about when it comes to attracting the 360 community... they'd rather stick to COD4 or Halo, while the type of good community per se might move to this game on the 360.

But even then, I doubt they would attempt to mix the two.

With MMORPGS on the Xbox 260, you pay the normal monthly fee, just as PC gamers do. You aren't required to have xbox live gold though.

i plan on playing the Dark templar, but I am still waiting for my game to be delivered. Can anyone here that has played the class above level 20 describe it to me? Thanks in advance.

I preordered the game yesterday and I received the email with the special code for the war mammoth today. However, I don't have the game yet. Is there a specific date that I have to enter my code by? Also, do I need a certain skill to ride the mammoth, or can I create my character and ride my war mammoth instantly?  Thanks in advance!

This game is totally instanced. Even the CITIES are instanced.. EVEN THE CITIES :p

That's like so lame.. it's like "I am at the blacksmith" and another guy "Me too. Can't see you" :p
It's like Guild Wars (ok, not that extreme, but pretty close to it).. at least I am not willing to pay a monthly fee for a game that has instances all over the place. Everywhere.

What's the point of PVPing in instanced zones? If he is running away into the next zone and you are right after him and you both end up in totally different instances.. omg, that's so pointless.
Or if you go out with your guild into a zone and everyone ends up in a different instance.. so.. dumb.

Funcom's excuse for instances is that their graphics are so god-like that you can't handle it with computers nowadays.. my ass! Funcom considers ~200 players in one zone as "massive".. wow.. that's lame. I wonder how other MMORPGs manage to not use instances ALL the time. There are like a trillion games out that have no instances at all. I can accept instances in dungeons or special zones.. but EVERYWHERE? That's like so-not-MASSIVELY.

Oh well, anyways.. my Age of Conan order has been canceled.

Everyone who really wants to play a massively multiplayer online RPG should look for something elese, because Age of Conan is far away from being one. It's like a NextGen-Guild Wars with 1-2 addons :)

Did I mention that the CITIES are instanced too? :)

I thought this when I first read about Everquest 2. I held your same view of instanced zones until I actually played the game. It wasn't like Guild Wars where you are completely alone. Its instanced so you don't have 100 players in one small zone trying to camp one mob. However, if you want to go to the more populated zone, you just simply switch to it and ta da problem solved.
