I think the reason they're not off by default is because previously, these conditions were all active and there was not even the option to turn them off.   They didn't add new "reveals" in an on state, they are just now introducing the capability to turn off the reveals that were built into the original state of RealID.

The question is, what will the default state be for new BNet accounts? Sadly, probably "on."

Was that Imperial Agent a Chiss? Chiss as a player race?

Hmm - does this jive with EU continuity? I thought that Chiss out in the "unknown regions" didn't even interact with the main galactic civilization until pre-clone wars era, maybe around 25 BBY.

I guess the premise here could be there was active contact with the Old Republic or old Sith Empire 3000 years earlier that was essentially broken off and "forgotten" in the intervening millennia - .... but I've digressed into total SW nerdica.

 Yeah, their torrent seems really pathetic - I let it run all night the first night and it got to about 80%.  Re-started the next day and since then, through many hours of attempts, it's now up to 88% - on 1 of 7.  Not worth it.

Besides - it looks like they've decided the "open" beta is closed now - suspended issuing registration codes.

I might try back again in a few days to see if some of this is due to massive "me first" wave of people or something - not sure how much effort I'll give it though, given some of the discussion in other forums about it having some seriously unfriendly UI for mouse/keyboard users. I'm not getting a console pad for a beta trial. (that's presuming they even open up the beta again and start issuing more registration keys.)

So far - this is flunking on all counts for me. But the desire to sample anything different is strong.

 Yah I wonder they have just decided to save some headache and redirect the "Apply for Open Beta" button's target URL to the "http://entry.ffxiv.com/busy/" page for a while w/out even trying to hit the server to see if it's too busy, heh. ;/

Next thing you know they'll just point the button directly at it and bypass any redirect!
