Got 2 mates in beta now - NDA will not be lifted.  Only for the 13 lvls in open beta.  And yes - there is a reason for it. 

It has already been stated by Funcom that alot of the higher lvl content is not ready (including siege battles).  It has already been stated that key abilites of all casting classes (spellweaving) has not been implemented in Beta and judging from last reports it seems it wont even be tested at all before launch day.  Now  -  these are not rumors.  This has been stated from the leading developer on Gamespot. 

But having m8ts in beta puts the right perspective on why things are beeing handeled like this.

BTW - not really talking down the game.  Just pointing out what every person should be thinking at this point.  Why 13 lvls ?

The only logical reason for using paid subscription members like fileplanet's was because of the mature label.  Giving some out for free to players that don't even have to proof their age is again showinh it had nothing to do with age limitation in the first place.

But again - ppl are free to do what they like.  Funcom is giving ppl 13 "polished" lvls and leave the rest unpolished.  It doesn't tell us much about the game.  And considering they are not lifting NDA its kinda obvious where this one is going.

Noone should have to pay for beta.  And noone should have to pay for something he doesn't even get into.  Ofc its a ripoff.  But hey - thats games for u.  It has nothing to do with what players are after.   Just wait till u get to lvl 13 in 3 hours and then u actually find out how much of a rippoff it is - even for those that actually got in. 

Cause thats what it is - to lvl 13 takes about 3 hours.

Now - ppl are welcome to do that for the next 20 days or so over and over and over again.  But I promise u that those guys will not be very intrested in buying the game.

Current fileplanet ripoff only proofs Funcom is not here for the players.  But I think we all know it by now.  Thats why I keep telling ppl to NOT preorder this game - NOT buy it until you get reviews from players that know what the game is about.

It would be intresting to know how many of those that actually try the game deside to buy it.  And stay with it longer than few weeks.  Not like the devs will tell us.

There are quite a few reasons why Im not intrested.  Most of it are basics that I expect all MMOs to be able to provide.  LOTRO just can't.

Why do ppl find it boring ?   Not enough rewards ? Crappy UI that is very bad for long term playing enjoyment ?  Poor animations ?  Poor and all the same looking mounts (what about reins and saddles ?  Don't know what part of the lore is to ride around on crappy looking mounts).  Need I go on ?

We are working hard on the features we haven't shown off in beta, features we have held back on purpose to have some new revelations at launch. Among these are spellweaving, massive PVP, and DirectX 10 [graphics].

No - current beta does not have DX10 atm.

If you listen carefully you can hear a sucking sound coming from the direction of preorder sites as the first of these positive beta reviews come out.  I hope the reviews mirror my own when I actually try the game myself.  Until then my plastic is staying in my wallet.

Im not a doomsayer. I just want to see a game launched that has the features that we were told would be in it.  I doubt that first 13 lvls will show ppl that.

We already know Guild Cities are in the beta client already for example. We know mounts are in, we know Drunken Brawling is in, crafting, border kingdom, PvP servers etc etc as well as everything else in this thread. And what reason is them not to have them in at launch? None.

Most of what you say is false.  Prove of that is that Drunken Brawling will not even be in the game - thats official.  So you claiming the rest is in is very dubious. 

 

Reason for not having these things in at launch ?  Its not ready would be my bet.  It hasn't been thought through.  The basics of these features are not working on have not been tested.  What we do know is that first 13 lvls will be ready.  Thats always conforting in a 80 lvl MMO game where endgame content makes or breakes the game.
