Gold sellers ruining the games....is there no stopping them?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/17/07 3:43:16 PM
It is easy to stop but you have to do it in a wierd way. You have to make gear less important (or not important at all) and money not important to get gear. This would stop gold farming but the problem is it would also destroy the possibility of establishing any kind of an economy. So is it stoppable yes but you would ruin other parts of the game in the process. Since it is difficult to stop just learn how to make money by taking advantage of the inflated economy. I was so good at selling stuff in wow I literally had more gold than ten toons combined. All i did was found out how much I could sell basic things like linen cloth. Alot of people sell linen cloth for 2 silver to vendors not knowing that they can sell it in the auction for alot more. You also have to know whats valuable to other classes like one toon gets fade leaf or swift thistle and sells it for one silver. They don't realize that rogues need those two ingredients to make potions so they will pay alot more then vendors will pay. If you do these two things you'll be rich despite the fact that gold farmers are inflating the economy. |

Looks like a cool instance. I do like the fact that wow is know only making 10 man raids and 25 man raids. It is hard for smaller guilds to get 40 people together. Smart move on blizzard part. |

Wow is still tons of fun for the newbies and thats why there numbers may still be increasing subscription wise. But alot of members who have been playing for a year or longer are starting to get bored with the game. Wows popularity is waning but its a good game and it will go strong for awhile. Alot of people are also only playing wow right now to kill time until another game comes out. I am not hating on Wow it is a really well done game its just showing its age thats all.

Why a WoW killer would be a very bad thing.

There is going to be so much competition in the future. I think this will prevent one MMORPG from dominating the market like Wow currently does. I think in the future several MMOs will have about 1 million subscibers while others have about 250k to 500k. I think wow became the powerhouse it did because it was a much better game (or atleast appeared to be) then the games released in 2004 and 2005. But companies are starting to release much better games now and i don't know about you guys but when I look at future releases I see alot of games that I think i might be interested in playing. This is far different from the time I looked at future releases back in 2005 and all i could say is Wow is way better than anything else out there. So while it is possible for one MMo to dominate the market, I think it will be far more difficult to do so in the future. |

Don't feel bad. I know alot of people that don't like 24/7 PVP including myself. I like pvp but i like to have the option of just exploring the game without having to worry about getting ganked sometimes. And I agree with an early post ganking does not require skill. Its very easy to roll a toon with stealth capabilities and wait till a toon who is 30 lvls lower than you to pass by so that you can kill them. I think killing is ok but don't pick on people 40 lvls lower than you thats just wrong. |

Well if you haven't played WOW. You will like it. The only reason i quit Wow is because I am bored because I have played it for so long. As the previous post mentioned roll lock or hunter if you want to dominate most of the other classes in PVP. |

A Point I think is funny about LOTRO current sales.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/11/07 9:39:23 PM
Lotro is a good game. I just want to try something different like Gods and heros. That game looks like its going to be good. Age of Conan and some others also look like contenders. But I think while they are going to be good games they won't have numbers like Wow because Wow is a good game and had a major timing advantage. The competition is getting better so its going to be more difficult in the future to have such a large portion of the MMORPG market like Wow currently has.
