Gaute could never do that.   Gaute's "Let them eat cake" style of aloof management from afar and too obviously, proving once again with AoC that he had absolutely no "pulse" on the customer base, I am sure, frustrated the hell out of FunCom. 

Gaute may have actually been asked to resign -- one thing for sure, the folks and FunCom aren't sorry to see him go.  It's the equivalent of hari-kiri career-wise for Gaute, but that's okay, he's been with FunCom for 16 years and I've sure he's taking a good chunk of the company's value with him.

Everything about FunCom has always pointed to "Those who refuse to learn from History are doomed to repeated it."   FunCom, even if Gaute said the contrary,  didn't learn from AO and made many of the same mistakes (and a host of new ones) with AoC.

 What was really annoying the FunCom investors was that AoC was not only underpreforming, it was heading south quickly while Gaute played Nero's fiddle to investors while roleplaying Marie Antoinette to the player community.  

So here we go, history repeats itself -- Craig Morrison to the rescue *AGAIN* ...Craig has a good reputation and track record. He is certainly well accustomed with taking things from a blue funk to harmoniousness with charm and panache, yet in a purposeful, determined way.

this game is as fucked up without switchblade....

AoC world comparing in size with EQ2 or WOW expolorable areas could fit under microscope and even then you only have one linnear option of moving ...pretty much there is no exploring in AOC. This game suffers from seriously retarded design. It does look pretty if that is all you expect from MMO but fails in every other aspect.

I got game few days ago after playing list mediocre MMOs before EQ2 and I love it , it has so much content that equals at least 10 overhyped MMOs right now on the market, just got  lv 20 and had a blast, didnt notice a problem with grouping and comunity is awesome

lol I have never seen so delusional dev company as Funcom....only semi polished content in AOC is noobie island of Tortage rest is epic unplayable crap

I really really wanted this game to work out and be everything that Funcom hyped it to be....but after 3 months and 20+ of usless patching I am sick and tired being a  alpha tester for this pos....I went to play EQII also most of my friends canceled their accounts as well....good luck to you Funcom : you mastered the art of propaganda but  yet have to learn to design FUN games , personally I will never buy their product again.

Ok I played Wow for 4 years since day one then switched to  "epic failure" of AoC, and just got EQII , I personally like it , it has loads of content and comunity is the most friendliest one I seen in any MMO where people actually take time to show you the ropes....I just started the game so maybe its still to early to have any meaningfull impressions....well many of those same "WoW flamers" in reality are same people that bitch if the game drastically differs from some basic concepts of design that Blizzard mastered first. Making things extremly complicated and hard-core on the end doesnt make $. 90% of players are in reality casuals with real life responsibilities. I would like to see a dev studio that offers "Hard-core" servers aka super dificult  so all those who bitch and complain about games being to easy for them can go and marinate their "e-peens" , lol wouldnt be suprised if those servers are complitely empty...btw back on the subject of EQ I find it extremely fun....that might be also that I still have bitter aftertaste of unplayable pos of AOC that after 24 patches or so still plays like crap , has no content and will make the newest gaming rigs scream : "Mommy" on the other hand EQII looks awesome on even lower end PCs has more content than AOC WOW and any other MMO combined toghether....zones are huge, you do not need to grind whatsoever because there are billions of quests....I do not know about pvp...but I heard that is really crappy...so far there is no rellally good fantasy MMO there that has polished PVP, WoW ' s PvP is a joke, AoC's PvP  is sad failure of a joke...so I gave up of looking for MMO that has balanced and challenging Pvp.

all I have to say they got till Sept to fix the crap ...and if they dont bye bye Funcom...I wanted it to be fun...but I am not gonna spent another dime for someone's else delusions. I wonder how this games won all theese awards before they even launch ....this industry is the only one that awards hot air. Imagine Oscars being given before movie release solely based on 50 second trailers. E3 is a joke, as well as IGN, Gamespy and 100 of other PR dummies. I also wonder if 90% of devs actually ever played any MMOS...more and more it seems games are designed by people who dont have a slightest clue what average MMO gamer wants from the most basic elements.To summ it up hype it hype it  then take a crap in really nice candy wrapper  then proceed collecting whatever you can for next 5 -6 months and squeeze every penny you can then send it first class to MMO graveyard (SOE). Then rinse and repeat with new title.

Sometimes I wonder if all this game developers actually ever played any MMOs or video games in general.....

I actually have 4 year old alienware that is slightly above minimum requirements and strangly on highest setietings with bloom not enabled just highest resolution my game seems to run much smoother. Beta convinced me this game willl be a blast , I cancelled my other MMO subcriptions in anticipation for this game.

Are you kidding me?  They are actually letting the whiny forum posters dictate how the game is developed.  Makes me a bit sad that they actually take into account the community's feelings when they NEED to make a change to the game.

What is there is other stuff that they feel is a detriment to the game but they will not change it because they don't want to upset the community.  Bah!

I mean come on.  I could understand their viewpoint if the game was already released but it's still in development, they shouldn't hesitate to change anything that needs to be changed at this point.

I can only imagine the pressure they receive from the shareholders to release the game (I'm sure there unreasonable people among them as there are among the people of this forum). Your complaints and whatever pressure you assume you (not just the last poster but generally) put on them is nothing compared to the pressure from the people currently paying the bills.

Lol just another way of squeezing a buck from someones pocket, I am suprised it took them so long to go for "legit gold selling" and give it some fancy corporate name. On another hand it might actually benefit gaming as a whole if it done properly as in removing spam-gold famers that plague almost every MMO. I just dont want to see games designed for sole purpose of being virtual shopping malls.

Perpetual is nowhere even close in legue of Bioware and Blizzard..... Its like comparing Yugo to Porche or Mercedes

That is something AOC devs shouldnt even have us wondering about.....I mean AOC is all about PVP and guilds vs guilds it should be implemented . I would go further and have even guild Banners or flags on keeps , guardians or shield wearing classes should be able to have amblems on shields etc.
