Prediction: At the end of 2012 EA will buy ZeniMax/Bethesda
General Gaming « General Discussion 4/17/12 10:58:03 AM
Zenimax is in far too good a financial position, with EA getting into trouble on the other side. A takeover won't happen, not this year, not for the next few years. At the moment, EA can't afford to buy Zenimax and even if they could, after all the recent hubbub Zenimax shareholders won't sell ;p |

Edit: Ultra-delayed double post. Yay me! |

PvP: You can be attacked anywhere at any time by any player, and vice versa.
Also, no RP servers in EU. Frogster can't support it. |

Aren't they the site that hates on Tera for dodging but loves GW2 for dodging? It's one site out of millions. Stop giving them free advertisements in a forum for a game they hate so much ;p |

Having a proper support can make or break a game. The game can be awesome to high heavens but if you have a problem and costumer support gives you the finger, you're not going to keep on playing for very long ;p If the game is somewhat bad but the support and communication is top notch you might stick with it for a while longer simply to see how it turns out, if nothing else. On an unrelated note... You just made me realize that "dynamic content" in Rift and GW2 is a cost-saving excuse to not make proper quests 0-o |

Patent issues over patents which have never been filed in the US. I don't see how a US court is going to justify making a ruling based on that since it would involve having to recognize the validity of foreign patents - Which is one of the core issues of the patent/copyright situation of today. NCSoft is getting diddly squat in the US, even if the Korean Supreme Court decided otherwise. |

If I'm Going To Play TERA EU Is There Any Point Checking The EN Masse Site?

No it's not. Happily playing NA here.

Oh look, Tera fans getting way too excited about a niche game and GW2 fans busting in to tell everyone how their game is superior to God. Oh my god i am so surprised! |

+1 Two completely different games to begin with. Different target audiences. Thread already derailed into a fanboi argument. |

Actually, that's entirely intended. Think of other 'combat' games - For instance, Street Fighter. You can't move and attack at the same time - You have to choose, do you block, do you move/dodge or do you attack? Same with games like God of War - You can't just do your big attacks while moving around. They have a certain animation that has to be followed. Do you make this attack, or do you play it safe and reposition before trying it? This makes the combat a lot more tactical. It shouldn't be a matter of facerolling the keyboard like in a lot of other MMO's, you have to think about when to do what, rather than follow an optimal rotation. It sounds a bit rude, but the combat is not going to change. Tera may not be the game for you if you can't adjust to this way of thinking (just being blunt here, not trying to be rude! :P) |

Sounds like you've got some connection issues between your system and the Tera servers. Try running a tracert or a ping and see what it tells you. I'm playing from Europe (Netherlands) and i'm having no trouble whatsoever. |

Give Tera a chance in the open beta in a few weeks, or if you find a closed beta key, this weekend :) |

There's a sizable amount of EU people who'd rather play on the US servers. I tried both myself - EU feels ever so slightly more responsive, but US has far better support. I don't want to compare communities at this point. Still, has to be said that the very few run-ins i had with Frogster support weren't all that great, compared to the incredibly quick response times from the EME staff with exactly the answers i wanted to hear. That, and it's cheaper to play in the US - $15 vs 15 Euro ;) |

Why GW 2 will be considered p2w and a disappointment to some.
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/05/12 12:15:15 PM
Plenty of subscription games still running 8-9-10 years after their release. UO is still sub based. Plenty of subscription games will still be released and happily float along.
Very few games have actually been shut down over the years compared to the ones who are still running. Again, some people seem to have extreme tunnel vision. |

Many people in this thread underestimate the value of consistency. |

Fans usually use 6w at most (the big ones). an 80-120mm fan usually uses 2-4w. Anyway... GTX 400 series cards run quite hot. 90C in a SLI setup is normal, it's the price you pay for such a thing. That said, SLI is pointless anyway. A single GPU card runs cooler and can run games about as quickly as 2 lesser cards in SLI can - Anything over 60 fps is usually a waste of resources anyway. |

They changed it so that overall, the investment stays the same (you spend about the same amount of gold/materials in total). They just removed the negative chance so that more people will try it. |

"I don't care about graphics" immediately followed by "Dn abilities look cooler" and "RaiderZ looks just as good so it's just as good as Tera" |

Will TERA get anywhere or is it another flavor of the month?
General Discussion « TERA 3/29/12 12:25:07 AM
It's supposed to be 'rooted'. Think of fighting games like streetfighter and tekken: You can't jus tmove around willy nilly and mash buttons. You either attack or you move. This makes combat more tactical. Do you move out of the way or do you attack and risk being hit? This is what it's all about and what makes the combat actually fun. Compare this to 'faster' games like WoW where a friend of mine once tanked an ICC boss during WotLK (using a paladin) while literally rolling his face over the keyboard. That's what combat in most other mmo's usually amounts to. Hit your cooldowns and avoid the nasty patches on the floor if there's any - No thought about aiming, blocking or moving beyond avoiding 'death zones'. |
