Boobs and booty. Combat looks greats. I especially loved the "Destroyer class, and the whole grab face/throw a mile". But they are really laying the overkill on fan service. While it's nice to watch, it hardly makes a MMORPG better except for the "Visual experience", and that akward, "Why is everyone a half naked women in the game you are playing honey". They have porn for that kind of thing.

That video honestly dhhas thing than even softcore porn won't touch.

Well you seem to be looking for the same thing that most MMOers are looking for. What I like to call the "Perfect Game." Alas, this game doesn't exist. So were forced to settle for what's on the market today. Have you tried EQ2? It has great PVE with a ton of quests. The game also has some great customization. But it is lacking on the PvP side. EQ2 also has 1 more thing you’re looking for which is a great community. I'd say this would be your best bet. It has a free trial so you really don't have anything to lose. Give it a try.

everquest2.station.sony.com/freeTrial.vm

EQ2 would be awsome if it had a influx of new players. Alas, it doesn't get enough newbies to compensate for the ammount of high level turnover. To sum it all up, your best bet to enjoy the "Meat" of the mid levels is if you enjoy soloing by yourself and being excluded from all the mid level group content untill you reach level cap.

It's such a shame really, all that amazing content, and it can't be fully appreciated due to the one, primary need. Other players your level. It's kind of dumb too. If you think about it, MMO's are built for the long haul. The longer since their release, the more content that is able to be added, and the better the game can get, coming ever so close to that ultime MMO youve always wanted. But by the time it gets to that aged, well defined, quality sate with content upon content. All the players have fled!

You and me both. Tried giving Aion a shot again even because I was desperate and failure continues to abound and couldn't even really get a weeks enjoyment out of it. Parts of LoTRO make me want to try that again, but there are just as many parts that don't interest me. All in all, can't find a damn thing that I have the slightest desire in playing anymore. Personally I'm just going to kick around in Allods, being free and all, until I get tired of that or until someone actually uses their freaking heads and releases something that isn't a complete self obsessed POS.

Fallen Earth was ok, but after about a month and hitting most of the minor goals I set out, I kinda lost interest /=.

Wish Eve wasn't so horrendously broken/boring, as I like what its going for, just not how they're doing it.

Don't blame the MMO's just because you are burnt out of the genre. No mmo will ever be exactly what you wanted. To me, it sounds like you could use a fresh taste of Pre-tramel UO, and you'd need a time machine or a private server for that.

Got to love that a thread about a Genre changing video gets derailed into discussion about bots! no wonder this site has no meaningful discussion to read.

Pretty graphics and recycled concepts aren't 'genre changing', especially when talking about making improvements to a game with such glaring problems...such as rampant botting.

You might have to make another troll account soon, because this one will be banned aswell.

Sorry kiddo, you've got me confused with someone else.  I -closed- the only other account I've ever had on this site.  Besides, this is in the general discussion area, so I'm not trolling anything.  NCsoft think they can polish a turd and keep their dwindling Aion subscribers interested long enough to get GW2 out the gate, then this garbage of a game will go the way of all the other titles they've killed over the years.

Sorry that you like a dying product.  Must suck,  I guess.

look again its in the AION forums, so yes you are trolling.

on topic, the video looks great. and yes to me that does look like a monk class REALLY looking forward to that!

Hm..you're right.  I got this one confused with all the other threads talking about the same maybe-someday-this-game-won't-suck video.

If you hate Aion so much why are you in the AION forums? im guessing you dont have much going on your life right now? lol

And if Aion is so incredible, why aren't you playing it right now?  Hmm..?

 Unskillfull troll ^

Woah dude whered u get that one? I didn't even read him mentioning that  he likes aion. He just sees how stupid everybodies arguing points are, most notibly yours as you don't even have any to begin with.

So this is what Aion was supposed to be like when I payed $50 for it? When is it being released?

Oh and Perfection66, I can bet you anything that Cataclysm will sell more copies than this updated version of Aion.

How can this make any sales when its going to be free. >.<

Oww and btw .. this ain`t all coming in one Update. Early next year version 2.0 is planned for release[ also known as the first expansion] and with it some of these features will be implemented. After , the rest will come over time with each new content update.

When a game developer releases a graphics and/or engine update to an existing game, it is done so with the intention of not only retaining existing customers but also attracting new ones.

Oh and wtf does >.< mean?

How about we argue about the quality of the content rather than box sales or industrial motives. Because lets face it, you can't down play a developer for providing content. Reason being, the motives are RIGHT THERE. It's not a hidden fact that a mmo company wants money, subscribers, and so on.

Getting players into your game = money... Then money = resources for feeding you family and proving players content. Content = More players and "Happy players" hence more and more money. It's a never ending cycle and at the end of the day. "Everyone wins". The player enjoys his game, the developer provides for them while making money and feeding themselves. Notice something here?

I don't get why so many people make this seem like a crime.

Hype hype hype!  If I had to guess, they put some of the art, models, mechanics into a single player beefed up version of itself just to record the damn video.

I've never played Aion and never will, but the video / forum hype crap has been done 200 times over from MMO companies who pushed out underpar games.  Hopefully, for the Aion fans anyway, I'm wrong.

Naw, It was most likely an actual client build that they are working on. You half to remember aion has been out longer than a year in korea, and they've probably been working on this since before the official release over there. Companies tend to work on future projects ahead of time and work their way up to it.

FYI, despite the hype. Aion wasn't underpar. Unless you can give me some "Unbiased" "examples of games that where more polished at release. "We really can't go on fun factor because that is subjective, hence bias". You also half to understand, you are making mass marketing through quality trailers sound like that bad thing. Which makes no sense because every single MMO has to do that in order to get people to realize it exists.

I am starting to feel old.

This thread is funny, lots of wishful thinking from disgruntled ex-player of such games

My guess is one of the low populated SOE games, like PotBS or Vanguard.  They got 2 games launching next year, with more coming up, they can't keep staffing for games with very low population.

I keep thinking to my head... "Did the OP put magic marker text on the thread title that actually turns to "Place ya beta! Next mmo YOU WANT to shut down" When you put on special glasses?

If that's not true, then alot of idiots who can't distinguish between personal opinion and what is actually realistic are missusing the thread. When you think Aion will be the next MMO to shut down, something it wrong with you. I don't care how much you hate the game, theres no chance in hell it would shut down anytime soon. That's what we call a "Losing bet"

Don't feel bad for them. Aion is Garbage, and this is coming from someone who was preaching to his friends to play it before it Released. There is so many things wrong with Aion and they will never be fixed. The game was simply put together with no thought to anything atall. Everything about the game was randomnly made with no design thought.

The only thing that drives me crazy is the stupid glitch that makes every other player who is flying look like they are doing 360 spins animations while they are supposed to just be flying straight.

That and the retarded Disconnect error spawned from the cry.dll pack.

And the caps sensitive AH...

Honestly though, anything else that happens to be mechanical is very minor.

Everything else that is a problem is driven by human intent. Which probably accounts for 99% of the things that piss people off in the game.

Other than all that, aion is great

Don't feel bad for them. They are making this game to make $$. There is no passion involved like in some others. They give a *#*$% about you, they only care about your money. Don't you dare shed a tear for them.

Last time I checked, the people behind the art direction, lore direction, animations, weather, and just about anyone who ventured into the gaming industry by choice puts passion into it. Even famous artists who spent their entire lives devoting to improving their art had "Surcharge" just to have a painting custom made for somebody. Then the actually payment for he completed payment. This is because

A: The artist needs to eat, and stay alive in order to make the painting in the first place.

B: Because of the time spent on the painting.

:Does this mean the painter disliked painting? By no means, people who picked up painting usually set something else aside to pursure it because they loved it. Or at least they had other choices to pursue other things, but the passion was in painting. So just because NCsoft has being a corporate giant in the asian market, does not mean that none of them as individuals have no passion towards the MMORPGs that they create.

As a company, NCsoft is a goliath and is very hungry for $$$, but the people responsible for making the games have a passion towards it. And those are the people who I support to continually deliver content with my monthly fee.

Call of Duty's gameplay + WW2 Online's massive persistant world = Cash machine.

I would so play that.

It would be more like guildwars campaign where you form up a group and do a certain part of the missions for story mode. The only difference from the normal call of duty multiplayer is that you will have virtual spaces to stage before you set out into each chapter. PVP would be more like..... Think Huxley/Global agenda...

Activision will not by any means be making anything like WW2 onlines world. I know this because A: It's activision, these guys practically invented the term, "Following industry standards"... I mean, I accept and fully understand that MMORPG's are big business in the industry, but as it stands, what a current "MMOFPS" is being defined as, I don't feel the worth in putting monthly payments down for.

No matter how good call of duty's gameplay is, in a MMOG setup, the fact is, it would just be another call of duty game with a few more freedoms. Activision is just again, poking it's head into mainsteam marketing by following suite with all the other guys who are attempting to make MMOFPS...

Notice how almost no MMOFPS ever existed, then all of a sudden in what? The last year or so? You start hearing about MMOFPS projects. First it was Tabula rasa supposedly, then Huxley's announcement, then global agenda, then crimecraft which has already failed to give a purpose to having a large empty city to roam..

All these MMOFPS trends are complete and utter fails because they are going the route of insanely heavy instancing. There will be no dynamic exploration, and all it will be is a regular single/multiplayer shooter with virtual lobbies and purchasable outfits/customization/xp slapped on.

I hope planetside 2 doesn't do this. Because IMO, I'm much happier off just playing a deticated server hosted FPS with no monthly than one that barely goes beyond that. The only true MMOFPS that I accept as true MMOFPS are WWII online and Planetside. And I prefer planetside as it's easier to get thrown into the action.

Ofcourse they're doing NGE 2.0, only this time they're starting with an entirely new game so it probably won't be nearly as broken and poorly done as the NGE.

They're copying WoW because that's what they percieve as the only successful way to market a Star Wars MMO.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are copying wow. In fact, it's more or less them copying themselves. They are following the same template they had for the KOTOR series, as that was already a theme park method, and expanding apon that epicly for online.

I swear you could say someone is copying wow just for having other players in it anymore.

as a fan of WoW lore i find it insulting to see the Lordaeron icon in a game like Aion tho'.

I don't want to see any WoW symbols in aions pathetic world.

then wow should stop ripping stuff off lotr then:P untill then you should just stfu

link or gtfo

another sad day for mankind go watch the lotr movies then come back or gtfo dumb dumb or no go read the books even but i doubt you have ever read a book tho

still waiting for that link.........

seriously? you never even seen the movies of lotr? XD man you are such a major failure its funny go google it even a idiot like you can do that your making such a fool of your self:D your a shame for the rest of the wow fanboys hahaha

still waiting.........

I suppose you wouldn't take the address of your local library as an answer?

i dont think even knows what a library is by the looks of it lol

We shouldn't be hard for him, they might not have libraries in USA. I've heard that they have adults that can't read.

Just what we need more eurotrash bashin on us just to bash on it.just keep in mind you rotten bad tooth moron that 90% of the games and more than likely your OS comes from US.Ofc 90% of you peasants just steal  your OS and pretty much all your games and music and movies  to begin with.

Canada here:

Why doesn't the US just move to the Moon and leave everyone else alone then?

Right...they haven't found any oil there yet.

If you didn't understand, it's clearly because there is a world outside of the internet, gaming and operating systems. You depend on exports from other countries, so your defense is pretty much null. As for the downloading, that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Also, please stop giving people stuff to bash you with, it's at a point where it's all too easy.

I can't even comprehend how this thread got so off topic.

Well clearly aion is good enough to garner players who are still fans of WoW lore despite the fact that they are playing aion. I'd be proud to know my lore was good enough to bring into other games.

I dont see why you can't use the "Swastika" Hitler wasn't the first one to use that symbol. The Japanese have used it and many other cultures have as well.

Unfortunately, popular opinion isn't on a first come, first serve basis.. There are far more people who understand the swastika shaped symble as exactly what it is most common as. The nazi swastika.

Does "The Orion Project", have anything to do with "Orion prophecy" released waaaay back in the mid 90's?

I have a friend in RL that plays this game, but I just can't get into it. For one, it feels dead--I'm only a level 7 black mage, but I don't play MMOs to solo everything. Personally this is a fundemental problem of level-based games, not just FF, so I'm going to drop this gripe.

My biggest gripe however has to do with the communities attitude. "If you don't sub white mage on summoner, no one will party with you." What. The. Flying. You-know-what. Even my RL friend has this attitude about min-maxing. I can understand why min-maxing is beneficial, espicially after dying and de-leveling, but for me it takes the immersion out of the game. This leads to another gripe: the combat. It seems so static. If I can kill something than I can kill it. No surprises. My friend once told me while watching me play EVE that it seemed more like Excel-in-space. I whole-heartedly agree, but Final Fantasy feels like Excel with the equations already filled out and I just keep telling it to recalculate.

I know this is a troll thread, but in all honesty, I'm also hoping you can soothe my thoughts.

It's not just you, in fact. The reasons you stated are exactly why they are making FFXIV.

I was attracted to this game because I thought it would offer a good balance of pvp/pve. I suppose one could argue that it does at higher levels, but what about the journey to the end game? Surely , rifts are a great idea. But in my experience they have been too few and far between. The abyss is available at level 25, but good luck finding any opponents around that level to fight once you get there. SO, I have come to the conclusion that I will not get a good pvp experience until I have obtained a higher level through pve, and that, Im afraid, i am burnt out on. I played WAR for almost a full year, had fun in pvp , but it was the lack of end game and decent pve that eventually got me bored...Where is a game with a genuine balance between its pve and pvp content? So then, what do you guys think could/should be done to help the pve/pvp balance of this game?

Put your panties on because they already said they are expanding upon the abyss and making more fast pace PVP accessable areas.

So what is it?

Mindlessly grindind off simple mobs, no, that's not hard...

Running through content like Mist Mane with a group that doesn't work great together is a huge bitch.

i disagree that there are no tactics in mmos, we used them in DAOC all the time.. these days ya, less and less of that is seen

i honestly like both equally, pvp mmos and fps

though i get bored with the boxed map of a fps a lot quicker then i do with an mmo (i really dont care for instanced fights)

not gonna go into detail bout it though, others have said pretty much how everyone feels and whatnot, mine is no diff

The person who spouts that isn't any tactics in MMO's, is clearly playing the wrong MMO. That or he doesn't full comprehend what it required to consider something a tactic. A tactic can be as simple as having a more convenient method of communicating through guilds so it is easy to meet up for battle. Which happens all the time in MMOs liek DAOC.

The only problem witch tactics in MMO's is that unless you have a core network of people willing to cooperate, it can be difficult. 99% of the time in MMO's you have a bunch of people who are their own 1 man army. Or people who wont listen to a thing you say. Hence the mindless zergs. That's also why having a good guild system in place is essential to have a good ingame leadership structure so you can actually get set goals completed.
