Looks like they've had a (temporary) change of heart: http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/02/18/facebook.reversal/index.html?iref=mpstoryview.

Are you going to be an English/Writing Major, because thats the only college degree that requires more then 1 year of English in High School.  Vocabulary and basic sentence syntax will get you through life.  So I wouldn't bother wasting the time to learn better grammer.

I think its good that you are attempting a self-schooling route.  The Charter Systems are consistently better for retaining knowledge then typical public schooling, especially in Texas.

Did you mean  1 year/2 semesters of English while in college? Most Texas colleges I know of require at least 4 years of high school English for admission as a freshman.

OP, do I understand correctly that you're looking for help learning English grammar? Future passive specifically, or all areas? Or are you just venting?

cag, I'm another guy that's been playing for years. I keep thinking I'm going to cancel my account, but I just can't give it up. Even when I'm busy with school and work and church, it's a nice, fun game. Like the others have said, it's not very deep - very casual friendly. You can make it deeper if you want - get a really serious supergroup, do hardcore RP, really get into PvP and the Inventions. But you can ignore all that and still have fun.

Is it just me, or does the oiginal concept look like a squirrel? Before I started reading and found out she was upposed to be a fox, I seriously thught she was dressed up liek a squirrel.

Also, why does the gothicized version have 4 ears?

I'll be happy gamer when a MMO comes out that finally gets past the stupid tank / healer paradigm.  Most people can't stand to heal, so why make the game dependent on it?

Tried City of Heroes/City of Villains? The While there are heal powers, they are only small parts of larger powersets. At higher levels, the related buffs & debuffs are usually more helpful than the heals.

Impressive. There's also a lot of good stuff on the Facebook Graffiti application - and that has even more limitations than Paint.

OP, are  you planning on starting fresh or picking up your old character?

If you're planning on starting fresh, you should also tell your wife about the new Leveling Pact. It was designed with someone like you in mind. How it works is two players (you and your wife in this case) each start with toons under level 5. You enter into this pact and just go about your normal business. You can play on a team together, or play separately. You don't even have to be online at the same time.

As you play, you build up experience and share it with your pact buddy. If you're both online, you both gain experience at the normal rate. If the one toon is offline, he gets all that experience when he logs back in. That way, the next time you both are online at the same time, you're at the same level. You haven't fallen behind and have to sk or catch up.

Better instructions and details can be found here: http://www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Leveling_Pact.

I tried it with some random SG-mate. It worked okay, but we were both playing alts, and had no way to contact each other outside the game, so it didn't really work ver ywell for us. But for a husband & wife duo, or two irl friends, it should work much better.

As much as I appreciate the opportunity to get these badges on my alts, I wish they'd come up with something new for the holidays.

*sigh* I know, I know, if I think it's so easy, why don't I come up with something myself...

Thanos, I don't really have much to offer, except that I've been playing for 46 months. I've tried stalkers, but my highest is only lvl 11. I just don't enjoy them like I do scrappers or brutes.

The Arachnos Soldier you're thinking of is the Villain Epic Archtype (VEATs) that are now available. The two VEATs are Wolf Spider and Blood Widow. From the CoX site:

Villain Epic Archetypes
Infiltrate the Arachnos organization from within! Upon reaching level 50, Villains unlock two new Epic Archetypes; Wolf Spiders and Blood Widows. They have their own unique storyline and missions, power combinations and costume sets. Branching powersets allow the Wolf Spider to specialize as either a Bane Spider or Crab Spider and the Blood Widow chooses from the Fortunata and Night Widow branches. Each brings with it unique costumes for your Arachnos duties, as well as your newfound role as a Destined One.

Both VEATs can be played as male or female, if you were wondering. Like it says, you do have to be level 50 to unlock them. I don't have a villain up that high, so I can't tell you much about them. However, they do seem to be fairly popular.

X - An unknown or unnamed factor, thing, or person.

What he said.

X is just the standard for an uknown. In algebra, X is the most commonly used variable. Check out the superscript/subscript button on the post editor - notice the letter used? It's an X.

Also, I was reading another thread this morning, and the other posters kept talking about CoD. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was - nothing on the game list matched. Then someone used it as CoD4. Ah-hah! Call of Duty 4!  Using another letter might have created similar confusion. I would have totally thought there was a third City of ____ game.

Their other choices were somewhat limited, due to real co_ words:

  • cop = police office
  • cot = small bed
  • coy = shy, playful
  • cod = fish
  • cob = part of an ear of corn
  • coz = cousin
  • cos = cosine

I've been using it to good effect. Bought a few things, sold a few things. Figured out how to do the foolproof influence transfer (important because I decided that, with 3 years of tweaks, I should start over with new toons).

What I can't figure out is this: why do so many people sell things on the consignment house for far less than they would make just selling it to a Field Trainer? Like DO's for 5 influence. That kind of thing. SO's for 100 influence. I've seen enough of it now to think it isn't just somebody being stupid. But what is it? Is there a reason to sell your junk for less than it's worth?

Edit: Wait, I may have figured it out. Is it people so rich influence doesn't matter to them trying to get the Power Seller badge?

Very likely. I'll usually go check out the prices in the auction house before selling salvage to a store, but I'll sell it to whoever will give be the best price. I'm not rich enough to just toss things away. Although I may toss the cheap stuff.

I don't like how they are seperating servers by country. I like EVE in part because you can fly with people from many different countries. Many stationed Military play EVE. Great to fly with my friend who is stationed overseas.

The name "Global" agenda is kinda ironic for them keeping only people of that Country on that server.

That really shouldn't limit you. There's a guy in my CoH supergroup playing on a US server even though he lives in Japan. Before they launched the European servers, there were Europeans playing on the US servers. I would hope that the GA team would not limit your server access merely because of your physical location.

If that is the case, then what about the person that is in the middle, at 50% ? This person would be comfortable with either sex. This person could be happy being straight, or they could be happy being gay.

If you try to indroctinate the 100% person, you are wasting your time. If you try to make the 100% gay person into straight, or vice a versa, it's going to fail.

But, if you try to indoctrinate the 50% person, you can be successful. You can turn someone that appeared to be straight into gay, or someone that appeared to be gay into straight, if they fall in this middle.

Does 'successful' mean 'happy'? Even if someone in the middle were persuaded to one end of the spectrum or the other, would they necessarily be happy? I'd conjecture that there would also be a chance that they would never be completely happy and would want to, ahem, try out the other lifestyle.

And yes, it is a slippery slope. Either way, you're going to wind up with people trying to 'cure' the group in the minority, either through psychology, pharmacology, or gene therapy-type stuff.

This is one of the few issues I have with CoX - I'd like more human hybrid characters: centaurs, Naga-types, harpies, etc. Maybe someday...

One of the problems with true non-bipeds (horses, birds, snakes, snails, dogs, whatever) is the lack of manipulators. Like someone else mentioned, they can't use traditional weapons. They'd have to fight with body parts (hooves, talons, fangs) or with magic. But the addition of a "rider" could add to your character's offensive capabilities. And riders could be responsible for attaching armor (how is a horse going to buckle his own straps?)

OP = Original Post or Original Poster. "In your OP..." refers to the post that started the thread - post #1. "The OP said in post #25..." refers to the person who started the topic - in this thread, that's you.

Are you in Europe, thomjohn? That looks like the EU updater...

Just making sure. I'd hate for you to download the wrong version and have to start over.

In the 2 previous years double xp weekend was crazy, every server was at least medium and the 2 most popular were red all the time, even having to be locked cuz they were full at points. This last one? The light servers stayed light, and Freedom and virtue NEVER went red. Oh you might login and it would say it was  full, but you backout and go back in and it would be medium, never high, and it was like that all weekend.

Really? I didn't play most of the weekend because Virtue and Freedom were grayed out. Saturday night, Virtue went down to yellow briefly and I was able to get on, but then I foolishly decided to switch and couldn't get back on until Sunday morning.

Day & night cycles - yes. They're very quick, but certain mobs come out more frequently during the night/day than they do the other half of the day. The ones that immediately come to mind are Vahzilok and Clockwork, but it depends on the zone (which I can't remember right off-hand).

Weather - not really. You're not going to fight in a rainstorm or a blizzard. At least, not one that's not generated by a hero/villain. However, Croatoa and Dark Astoria are constantly foggy (DA more so). Really, it's just to set the mood.

I had to vote 'no' because I'm not a fan of FFA. I like PvP, but on established terms.

I do like the idea of having a separate FFA area, though. I don't know if I'd rather have a server or a zone. Story-wise, the lack of FFA in the Rogue Isles is easily explained through the influence of Arachnos. You don't break the rules without catching the wrath of Lord Recluse. But I could see the addition of another zone/isle where Lord Recluse hasn't established Arachnos yet. Except for maybe a foothold/base for transportation purposes. Make it Villains-only content to keep it from becoming another RV.

With a new zone, you'd have to worry about level. Although, I suppose you could make the notoriety system like the XP system - your victims would have to be within a certain level for the take-down to be of any benefit to you. Could there be a built-in griefing penalty to keep the lvl 50s from picking on the level 1s?

How would you entice people to go there? Exploration badges? Salvage/recipe drops? Optional mission arcs?

Could also work as a special Ouroboros arc - go back to the Rogue Isles in the early days of Arachnos.

I don't know. I noticed earlier this week that it was laggier than usual. Maybe they're doing some system-wide fixes?

They do look kinda cartoony, but in a JLU kind of way, which I like.

Is that guy with the big white star on his jacket wearing a gold balaclava? Or is that his skin?
