Strait from the site:
"Battle is an indispensable element in any online game. Myth War possesses a totally different battle system from other MMORPGs. Usually, battles in online games are all real-time or turn-based. Myth War combines these both and uses the ATB fighting system, meaning: player's turns and moves are controlled differently by each other, the ATB system is active throughout the whole battle, depending on each player's statistics, turns are determined by it, thus players can actively change commands depending on the battle situation wisely.Unlike old tradition ATB systems, which enforces 'DEAD' commands (once players select the command it cannot be changed), and it gives players a feeling of actual in battle, controlling and tactical playing environment." Sounds like FInal Fantasy... Havn't tried it yet, about to. |

Originally posted by berryg2005 Greyhawk (The spell checker for my browser dosn't function on MMO.com's weird forums. My point about Greyhawk is that is isn't a completly defined setting, at least as far as I know. I've never seen a map or anything, because I don't think there is one, everyone makes it what they want it to be. The devs would actually have to get creative and make their own setting, while using DnD to power the mechanics. As I said a few posts ago in diffrent words: I'm tired of MMOs "based" off of such clearly defined things like FR, Eberron, Warcraft, and such. I like original works. I still think a DnD engine that could be used online to stage a game just as if it was on Table top would sell well, with a DM and everything. NWN came close with the DM tool, but I mean real-time. 'Course, then it wouldn't be an MMO really, but I've always thought that idea would be awesome. Also: I'd prefer a FR one over Eberron too. |

Yes, that was the one. Hard to get info about, but I'm researching it.
Ditto on the wishing... Originally posted by berryg2005 No kidding. Although I feel the same way about FR also, why can't people be happy with the default of Grayhawk? Grayhawk > Forgotten Realms > Ebberon IMO |

There are two game styles I have been waiting for:
- A mech, Gundam would be awesome ( I know Gundam Online was in Dev, and other mech MMOs too, I heard it somewhere... I don't think It was like this though), suit MMO where you start with a piece of crap "combat suit". Basically a 7 foot tall power-armor assembled from whatever crap you could find. It'd be cool if it was all rusty and such at first. Also, for the gundam game, a PVP only system would be cool, no trash mobs ever, no drops besides cash, just crafted things and (actualy useful even in endgame) store bought parts, with other, not-necessarily combat focused things available to do when you don't feel like/no one is on for pvp. Perhaps users could start nations and factions, like guilds, with territory, and you can try to assault/spy/infiltrate others' area to try to get more for your faction. Inside your territory, you can control the NPCs like turrets and perhaps even mercs (Ok, so kinda trash mobs, but none that are put by the developers!). Buying a spawning merc base that made them pop up like tradional mobs to defend your nation might be cool. Anyway, I digress, and didn't mean to go into that much detail. - A truely, actually historic based medieival and such MMO.No magic. You die: that sucks. No rez spells for you, or fire or ice for that matter. GW does a good job of showing a combat system based off of tactics that could work in this one similarly. The goal would, basically, to live long enough in your profesion/class to make some money and not have to do the dirty work: Become a noble and maintain an army so you don't have to die anymore. Paying a large sum of money to make another under-lord/vassal character that you can feel free to die with, and a certain % of his money earned goes to your main would be a cool idea. Another idea I like is playing a family line. You only have a single family (mabye 2 or 3, for RL familes who share an account If you took the time to read both of those, you will see two themes I believe are healthy for the MMO genre: - Stop making the heros so heroic from the start - Put more world interactivity into the hands of the players. Second world is popular for a reason. My fingers hurt. Edits: -MMOs based off of non-game property( I saw a Harry Potter one...) , while interesting at first, would almost always suck in the long run. I am designing a table top RPG about Naruto with a few friends, and we quickly learned things like this just don't give enough source material for spin-off games. - We have too many me-toos, as most MMO fans will tell you. Total re-invention, like GW and the upcoming Warhammer, are how new r revolutions are born. - That Pokemon Idea, if not a few years late, could actually be quite cool. Or monster hunter or similar taming game turned into MMO. They were pretty much screaming that since they were made, with all the NPC (that could be PCs) battles going on. |

There are a couple things about Maple and leveling I've observed, after leaving for WoW, and now coming back.
1) If you grinded in WoW, It would be comparable to MS's lvl time. WoW just keeps you question enough to make it faster, and actually has a cap. 2) After you've hit a certain level, getting to that level again with another character is much better. It took FOREVER to get the the second job at 30th level, but my second 30th took probably about 1/2 the time. You learn what to do. 3) The game obviosuly takes patience, to help either play some music on your MP3 or in the background, watch TV while playing, and switch up your monster "diet". Many guides list one or two areas to level, but if you feel bored, by all means get adventourous and find a new spot. I'd rather level a little slower than when in another area than get so bored I quit, eh? 4) Being rich makes the game funner too. Use www.basilmarket.com, it helps alot. Escpecially later on, 20+. Scrolls = millionare. 5) Don't play a theif unless your funded, don't go into the wold as a warrior without pots, don't play an archer if you don't want to manage your arrows, and don't play a mage. We have enough of them already. |

I think I actually have a good example of how I think it sounds it will be in another game: Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus.
When you aim at something, the little cursor makes a smaller reticle on your target. You press shoot, and sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss, and sometimes you get a HS, based off of player stats, weapon stats, and range. I'm not sure if TR will have this, but you can also choose to use a scope to manually aim, then it is just like a regular FPS as far as HS and hits go, but the enemys move quickly, so it's hard. |

I made a hard decision to quit WoW after almost a year, after realizing that there was almost no mid-level content at all, escpecialy on the alliance side, it seemed.
I quit for CoH, played for 2 months, got bored. Now I'm back to Maplestory to sate my MMO hunger until Tabula Rasa. |

From what I've seen, MS is the best free MMO I've played, and I've played quite a few before I got WoW and CoH.
Grinding is bad, they need to revamp some of it. I have two problems with the game: -Too many immature kids who get off on being jackasses (or adults, I don't discriminate by age, I discriminate by attitude -The develepers/GMs seem to not give a shit about their players, and their presence isn't there. I've talked to numourous GMs after only a month or so in WoW, I never saw a single GM in my 2 1/2 years in MS. Also, I hate how Sins basically HAVE to be funded or they are gimped. |
