And I think I responded with I agree to disgree, correct?  Perhaps you'd like us to rewind all the drivel posted since and just go back to that simple statement?  You gotta admit I tried.

I think ppl got your point.  You like the game.

Saying that every time someone says something diffrent does not change their opinion ;Þ  If someone doesn't like the minstrel Class as the healing class of LOTRO (be it part of the lore or not) then they will not like it any more cause you like it .   Get it ?

I think I have stated pretty clearly why I dont like LOTRO lore wise that is.  I feel it should have been done alot better in a way.   There are many other things I dont like and were as much of a game killer for me.  I've already named few of them here before on the forums.  But this was topic about the Lore and I tried to stick with it.

I've said this few times before - I will say it once again.  I feel LOTRO has come out 5-10 years to early.  The MMO genre needs to develop more to bring out such epic story in my opinion.  The movies of LOTR are masterpiece in my eyes and do the great story alot of justice.   LOTRO does not in my opinion.  Part of it is lore related since it doesn't fit into the MMO schene.  Part of it is poor work from Turbine in many departments and outdated gameengine.   If the movies would have been done in 1980s they would have been flop COMPARED to the status they now have.  I feel the same about LOTRO.  It is a flop compared to what it could have been.   In 5 -10 years we will probably see some MMo that would give the story more justice.   But it will not be in the world of Middle Earth sadly.

You don't even know about Maiar. You're referencing the movies all the time. You said

"The Wisards you talk about are powerfull but are they SO powerfull that no player in MMO version of the game should never get close JUST cause the lore talked about 5 of them ?"

Seriously, why did you even try this game? You seem to have no interest in the Lore whatsoever.

I am quite happy with the world I live in, so why shouldn't I want a gameto have fun?

I play on Landroval, what I understand has a relatively high population.  I get the sense that, even at primetime, there can't be more than 1000-2000 players on at the same.

Given these factors, how many active players can LoTRO possibly have?

Why are you so ignorant. Did it ever occur to you that there are also people in Europe and beyond, who play lotro?

http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=serversmw6.jpg

As you can see there are 11 Servers in Europe ( 4 German, 5 English and 2 French)

There even are 2 Japanese servers.

This makes 24 Servers worldwide

I love how some people so want to believe LOTRO is a failure that they give credence to the OP.

Here's a screenshot from Elendilmir, right now, 5:00 pm EST.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/6610/screenshot00178gt8.jpg

Note at the bottom: Search overflow limited to 100 players...

Was that pic Jan 1st? And it has been noted the OP went to 5 different forums, for several different games and posted attitude posts just like this one...

In so many words...yes, he is even more of a troll than I am (amazing eh guys?)...and had NOTHING to do on Jan. 31st...bummer..(someone needs a girlfriend me thinks)

Later

I completely agree.

Stating something like the OP on New Years Eve just isn't fair. The Lotro community probably has enough RL to not go on a raid or in the Ettens at THIS Evening of the year.

The OP just has to show us a screenie to start an actual discussion about this game losing its endgame players.

Btw: this doesn't look to dead to me:

I think this is the crux of the issue with LOTRO. The game is VERY popular overseas in the foreign markets...

In the US?...well, maybe that is the problem...as constant posts note population issues in NA / Canadian based servers...

Anyone care to do this at primetime (say EST time) on a non-holiday weekend (Sunday like the OP did) on a US based server? also preferably Silverlode..

Think there is no harm in that...how about you do it OP..

Later

I also think, that it is more popular in the EU. But the OPs statement seems kind of extreme.

the rift and the north down screenshots don't seem to work.

I'm just stating that lotro can also be the "raiders" choice.

Guys.. this game is really rocks... thank you Turbine u've done a good job...

Uhhh....did you just start this game?

What else have you played?

I like the game quite a lot. Been playing since the open beta.

As to your second question...

EQ, AO, Horizons, EQ2, WoW, AC2, CoH,

plus I tested MXO, Tabula Rasa and a couple others that sucked harder than Horizons even...

Ah okay nice.... I dont know though, it just seems it has to few zones and content or am I wrong?

It has as much or more content now than what EQ2 and WoW had at release for a comparison.
Granted, EQ2 and WoW probably have more content now that what LoTRo does... however, they are 3+ year old games... so they SHOULD have more content.

The devs have been consistently adding new content every couple of months as well.  The game is about 6 months old and by the devs estimate they've added an additional 20% of content.  So, if they continue at that pace they'll be close to 40% by the time the game is a year old.  That's pretty good; considering that is all additional content at no extra cost to the subscriber.

They have yet to release an "additional-cost" expansion.  Some people (myself included) believe that the first expansion will be when they include Rohan with mounted combat, as that seems to be a popular topic on the forums.

My guess is that their first expansion will be sometime late in 2008 perhaps into first quarter 2009.

Huh?

I don't think so. WoW had much more content, including end-game raiding. And EQ2 still is a deeper overall MMO experience.

  WoW raids

10-man:
Upper Blackrock Spire ( not really endgame more like Carn Dum; )
Karazhan  (after Burning Crusade)
Zul'Aman  (after Burning Crusade)

20-man:
Zul'Gurub (released in patch 1.7 nearly one year after release)
Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj  (released with Patch 1.9 - about 14 months after release)

25 man:
Battle for Mount Hyjal  (after Burning Crusade)

40-man:
Molten Core ( only 40 man raid on release)
Onyxia's Lair ( not sure when)
Blackwing Lair ( released with patch 1.6)
Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (released with Patch 1.9)
Naxxramas (Patch 1.11.0 a few months before BC)

Outland raids  ( All after Burning Crusade)

25-man:
Gruul's Lair
Magtheridon's Lair
Serpentshrine Cavern
The Eye
Black Temple
[edit]
Future release raids
Sunwell Plateau

So after 7 months WoW had Molten Core, Upper Blackrock Spire and maybe Onyxias Lair.

Lotro had Helegrod and the Rift.

Not even WoW had all this Endgame stuff from the beginning.

Monsterplay
The Peak will be Rohan Expansion, but I think they'll release Mirkwood first.
My Kinship owns one. But I don't have one for my char.
This is one of the most epic Forum-Wars ever.

I didn't really get a chance to see how the voting worked (heck, I'm not sure if I had ever heard of this award ), but I could offer up some ways a nominee could win an award WITHOUT being the most deserving nominee:

1)  People were allowed to vote more than once.  This would mean that, although you got the most "votes", say 500 people voting twice, you didn't have the largest amount of "individuals", say 750 people voting once, voting for you.  (like when fans used dialing machines to rig American Idol)

Voting was tied to ip and to an existing E-mail Adress. This means if you wanted to vote "500" times you would need 500 E-mail Adresseses and ips.
Hey Sempi! Why don't we change the subject and talk about Roma Victor Subscribtions. Last number I heard was 200. Lotro could have about 200000 worldwide. It will never commpete with all those f2p mmorpgs, but at least it seems to be still worth the Subscriptin fee. (unlike Knight Online, flyff,...)

Although many have tried, the top Raid boss Thorog has only been beaten by a few dedicted kinships in the entire LOTRO universe using intelligence, experience, strategy and tactics .  No dolts, nor common raid groups have conquered Thorog. Actually, the vast majoirty of well organized raid groups can't complete Thorog either. This acheivement does qualify the players as "top players", simply from having the wherewithall to figure out how to beat him. No small detail: we're talking about "buddies" and "dolts" with advanced degrees... doctors, programmers, military personnel  and other accomplished invidivuals.

To the comment about leveling difficulty above 40. I agree. The groups are hard to find. The game is also somewhat warped in that the loot drops often do not correspond  to the time requirements for certain group quests. This makes the game boring and tedious. The devs have said the game is soloable to 50. This is completely incorrect unless you're a gold farmer that never quests.  In that case you can grind yourself to 50 and die from boredom in the process.

Regarding dominating and conquering: you bring up a good point. The pvp model is unique, interesting and fun, but when you do finally dominate and conquer, it lasts about 10 minutes before the other side takes it back. Its very unsatisfying.  EVE  seemed better in this regard and I'm thinking about reactivating my EVE account.

Thorog was killed at least 3 times on my german Server (with screenshots) again: get rl

12 american+ 11 European+ 1 Testserver +2 JAPANESE SERVERS!!!!! can easily hold 500000+ ppl

12 american Servers + 11 european servers + Isengard(Testserver) + 2 japanese servers ( http://www.lotro-japan.com/ ) = 25 and a half servers worldwide 500000 / 25.5 = 19607 Subscribers per server

We just have to be patient.

But they have a good pace, so that we can expect to go over the misty mountains next year.

LOTRO_Saffron - Scenario is typing. :-)
LOTRO_Scenario - Not as slowly as Tens though.
LOTRO_Scenario - Hey Lava. For Book 10, we are finishing off our work in Evendim and opening the gates to Annuminas. We'll also be opening the way to one of the hinted at locations on our map (though it won't be a full region). Going forward, we are looking towards Eregion. Outside of that, almost anywhere in Eriador is fair game and we'll get there as we are able.

Why are they fixated on Eridaor so much?

At this rate, we'll have to wait 5 years for Gondor.

Heads up

Eregion ( Hollin ) is known by some, to be the gateway to Moria and everything behind that (Rhovanion, Lorien)

Let's say they could have had more succcess if they had released it as a mmo based on the movies and with EA as publisher...

But I'm really glad Turbine didn't
