Actually from what I heard release will be simoultaneous for everyone. It will happen for North America, Europe and Austrailia and maybe a few other parts of the world all around the same time.

Lol, so many people making their opinions seem like the facts. The truth is, we won't know, but what the devs have stated is that they will do their best to make the game as accessible as WoW was during it's time of release.

In other words, you may not be able to switch everything high, but the game should run smoothly on a standard computer (of today) and possibly older computers. People with older computers may have performance problems, hence the reason why they give us the option to lower graphics and tune performance with graphics to form a balance, where the game uses the optimum settings your PC can handle without dropping in performance. Well thats what the devs seemed to be intending anyway in my opinion with a bit of logic.

So what if you can't set everything to full cause you don't like "wasting" lots of money on your PC, the idea is you get to play the game anyway.

I believe vmoped seems to have said the most sense. It was always the dev's intention to make the game as accessible as wow. Obviously requirements will be higher then WoW's but WoW was released 3 years ago, and the standard specs of a PC have risen as well.

Huxley = hoax?

There are videos of it being shown at one of the E3 places. And interviews and the such. It is a game which is like most Korean games, not really being marketed in Europe+America much yet. It's in closed beta in Korea so I guess you'll just have to wait the same as we all do in the west.

I've heard a lot of mixed feedback from people who say they've seen the game. I would imagine it's actually being made, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Waiting is all you can do.

Dude, exactly why you should forget about this game. If you aren't into crafting, forget about this game. It's really only a crafters paradice. If you don't get what I'm telling you, thats your problem but I don't care if you like crafting or not.....I'm telling you stay away from this game if you don't like crafting.

The game has a lot of systems wrong, and I'm serious....the combat isn't fun at all. It's more like a text based game for combat. You can't do the things you are talking about. Ignore the descriptions about this game....only crafting system works.

Mainly, because none of the features are solid. Unfortunately the developer team are a low budget amateur developer team with limit resources and they take  a lot of time to do very little. Although it does have all the features we ever wished for none of them work well. Skills is messed up with bugs and other issues. Lag, server bugs and the works. And the combat system is horrendous cause it's full of bugs, server glitches lag from god knows what. It's quite a mess of a game.

I would recommend the crafting would be the funnest part of the game. Everything else is broken at the moment and still being sorted. Not a game worth buying in my opinion for anything else.

If you enjoy crafting, you may find this game to be a picnic. You've got a mega huge variety of crafting abilities and the such, from housing and structures, to tools, weapons, and lots and lots of stuff. Clothes, armour, cooking. Not much else to look forward to in this game except a fun crafting system.

I agree with the OP and don't think there is a place for a MMOFPS.

There are already multiplayer FPS with up to 32-64 players. I highly doubt including MORE players will increase enjoyment. You won't notice the different anyway.

The only difference is a persistent world. However, the lack of a persistent world does not seem to detract from all the players playing HALO3, COD4, and the so many multiplayer FPS.

While arguably leveling/items are not essential to a MMO, it has become the main draw for MMORPGs. I don't think it will change anytime soon. Even in Eve Online, players need to get money and buy stuff (noticeably ships).

thats my point exactly.

I enjoy a multiplayer FPS as much as my son does. But in a persistent world where I have to spend 3 months working to reach lvl or skill cap ? Then I have to get into that MMO's endgame be it raiding or whatever to get the best gear. Thats several more months invested. And then there are side things one can do to improve your character like crafting and such. Its a serious long-term investment but we are rewarded for it. Why would anyone want to play a MMOFPS where all that work is negated by someone who had 3 mountain dews and hasnt broken their wrists several times ?

If they made a MMOFPS that had no grinding whatsoever but was in a persistent world with new content then maybe it would make sense to me. But make me level grind, raid, etc then I shouldnt be held accountable for bad reflexes

Just so you know, no MMOFPS that exists has those systems. What ever game you are talking about doesn't exist, is in development (only possible mmo is huxley really) and is not out at the moment. The other MMOFPSs currently out have no grinding for equipment, except you have to gain a rank (which doesn't effect any stats) to use the equipment....you get the equipment free.

You're making the mistake of an MMOFPS being an MMORPG but just with FPS combat. No, no MMOFPS out till now has that sort of system. Only game which will have a similar system is The Chronicles of Spellborn, but gear has no importance in that game even though it is an MMORPG/MMOFPS...with an FPS combat system, gear has no importance. It's all about skills (abilities like tripple slash).

Apologies for not reading the last posts. But you need to play Planetside and WWII Online. And you will see the difference.

I agree to a certain extent about gear, but if there is a looting system where players drop their loot when they die in an MMOFPS then it's a completely different. It works with loot and the such. Granted....AOC has some weird systems but it is nothing close to an MMOFPS. Trust me mate.

Anyway, I respected what you had to say, cause you are right about gear being pointless in an MMOFPS, cause it just makes the gameplay wierd and a game like Huxley just seems wrong. I don't think it will do well at all.

BUT please check out Planetside and WWII Online to see the difference. Can't guarantee you will like WWII Online, cause its a very niche game, and you have to really like simulators to enjoy that game honestly, but planetside is a really great MMOFPS, till you get bored of it. The damn game is too repetitive because you have 20 of the same exact base to attack nearly all the time. But it is so much fun in a  100 vs 100 or more battle.

Honestly, no FPS like it, and neither WWII Online.

Thanks for understanding and apologies, I just was a bit offended by the kids play FPSs anyway RPGs are for patient mature people statement.

Edit: Ah and about the gear, in an FPS it wouldn't be hard to get gear. Face of Mankind had all gear player made, but the real thing was gear only gave you certain advantages. It was mostly about your skill. Gear just gave you advantages. But Face of Mankind was a crap game cause the combat was horrible. But the concept was genious. Gear was easy to get, it was all crafted. Just purchase it, and you're off. Didn't gave you only a little advantage.

I'm sorry I have to say this but I find the argument against MMOFPS games to be completely ignorant. Your argument says there's no point having an MMOFPS since there are 32-64 games already available. And that mostly little kids play FPS games. I feel quite offended by that. I have a hard time believing your an adult to have made such an ignorant statement making your opinion seem like your argument is the only right argument.

That has nothing to do with what an FPS should be about. You are just thinking of entering an instance and shooting away at people. Clearly you haven't played Planetside or World War 2 Online enough to realise the potential that MMOFPS games may have in the future once technology (mainly for the internet) has reached a certain point where MMOFPS games will rival MMORPGs.

I spoke briefly above. The reason I mentioned planetside and world war 2 online is because those games have  incredible strategy and one of the many reasons and unique reasons they have strategy is because of the massive global strategies you can make.

Planetside has people gathering at a certain location to head into another location to make special ops. You've got territorial disputes on a massive scale which cover a whole planet. How can you have this for a multiplayer game.... Where you are competing against other countries for many territories. You have dropships bringing in massive waves of troops from the main HQ, to drop infintry into a base so they can infiltrate it quickly and take it over. You can't have a game like Planetside as an RPG (Arcade FPS battlefields on a massive scale. And you can't have some of the cooperation, politics and such which go on in a normal multiplayer game.

The same goes for WWII Online, except in that game you also have limited supplies to make do with, special air combat missions and a large variety of vehicles. You've got Bombing missiongs heading to the UK, and Berlin, while battles on the ground taking place in Holland, Belgium and France. Special operations to weaken the enemy's supplies on the ground and to quickly deploy troops to take a town before the enemy can react. A lot of strategy goes on in the background. Again you can't have an MMORPG for a game like WWII Online which is an MMOFPS/Battlefield Simulation.

AOC is NOT an MMOFPS....you completely went off with that. Play a real MMOFPS and you'll see the scale, and the difference. AOC is a hybrid, of stands mixed with MMOFPS features.

Another good point is, Oblivion which is a hybrid but feels like an FPS. It's the top RPG game available. Why? Because it's new, different and combat system works, but it's still an RPG. If possible it would make a great MMORPG. Another great game which is an MMO, is Jumpgate, which is now maybe going to be replaced by Jumpgate Evolution, which is a really really great game, is kind of an MMOFPS since it's a real time space simulator (sort of) game. It has real inertia physics in, and is a real time combat game which you have to aim and shoot in real time. Levels just allow you to buy better equipment.

The MMOFPS genre is still very young and will get better once technology improves. Hopefully we'll start seeing NPCs and MOBs in FPS games as well, to have coop games instead of constant PvP, but thats for the future. If you think AoC is anything close to what MMOFPS games are available, you are sadly mistaken.

A little food for thought for you before you make your opinions into statements. Please don't jump the gun and make narrow minded statements. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences. Respect them.

Regards Mikey.

Edit: just one more thing to add....MMORPGs are not MMOFPSs in my opinion. One has a combat system of leveling, calculations, point and click  + hack and slash gameplay, with many algorithms effecting combat, while the other is all about quick reflexes, quick strategies, perception and real skill. I'm not saying people who play hack and slash don't have skill, just saying they don't have skill levels. You still need skill and intelligence to be good at a game like that. But what I'm pointing out the differences. Not only kids play MMOFPS games, many many adults play them for the realistic feel, and adrenalin rush. MMOFPS games have as much right as MMORPGs to exist.

Hmm, so it seems a lot of peaple have decided to makeup a bunch of facts which aren't true. I don't cover how well the gaming market does in Asia, but I know that the most popular games there are usually the Korean games. WoW maybe among the top 3 for those who have different tastes within Asia but I can't be sure, I just know Blizzard games are incredibly popular there.

The be all and end all we have to face but fail to accept is that everyone has different tastes. You can't say L2 is the best game ever...cause some people will like it while others will not like it. It's a well known fact that MMOs have varied tremendously.

We have PvE focused games which just dumped in PvP without really creating any proper system till more updates later came out which were to improve the interest in PvP (example: WoW). I remember when WoW (one of the first MMO's I played) first came out I was wishing it was like Ultima Onlne for some silly reason cause I didn't cover enough about the game before I played the Open Beta. I was kind of disappointed that it's PvP seemed meaningless, it was just for competitive reasons. No real gain or point to it. But I found the PvE to be incredibly detailed, immersive, interesting and fun. It is probably one of the best games there is for PvErs up with City of Heroes and Everquest 2 and now Lord of the Rings Online. I probably mentioned the top MMOs everyone could agree are some of the best out there at the moment for PvE.

We can also admit that no korean or asian MMO can compete with the PvE of the games mentioned above, because the detail those gaes have and the immersion and player interaction and guidance is quite in-depth. But what we lack baaadly in the western market is with PvP focused games. Games which focus on PvP. There was UO which is probably and will be remembered as the Great GrandFather of PvP games. We had shadowbane, DAOC, AC, and maybe some others which I've forgotten about at the moment and they were all great games during their time which now has kind of expired since they are not played much anymore. But now all we have left is Eve. Please keep note I'm excluding Korean games at the moment. Eve is the only game offering that great PvP system which many people who wonder about these forums wish to see in other games. Many people enjoy Eve, I myself enjoyed it for a little while but I got bugged because it's a Strategy space sim MMO, not a proper Space Sim MMO. But there are many reasons why many people got put off by Eve Online.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is there is a huge gap in great PvP games and so we rely on the games which come from the Korean/Asian market to fill in that gap for us.

Aside from that keep in mind the fact that around half the MMOs listed on this website which have been released are Korean/Asian games.

No flames please this was intended to be a neutral post.

Hey, I heard Knight Online is a good PvP game. I am not really fond of F2P games but I've been given some strong recommendations to try it. Read what a few people had to say about it, which encouraged me and concerned me at the same time.

A lot of talk about a bad community which is not suprising with a F2P MMO.

Anyway, I would register except I can barely browse the Official Website. I'm not sure, but either a problem on my side, although I can browse most other sites fine.....or else the website is overloaded with people browsing or trying to browse.

Any tips by the way, of what class is best to level up quickly, any differences in the races and that kind of information is appreciated. I can't get that information from the main site cause I can't browse it. Don't know if any of you guys are having the same problem....

Anyway, game I heard is one of the best games for PvP although its F2P. Hope its as good as Lineage II.
Thanks for your replies!

Guild Wars I avoid. Not a fan of Arena PvP and the multiclass thing causes the PvP to have way too many healers. But thanks anyway for trying.

Now the real problem is all MMOs mentioned have their good and bad points.

Knight Online sounds good, but its a free-to-play MMO. I don't know how comfortably I can sit with that. And cheating drives me mad thats why I avoid free-to-play MMOs.

LOTRO is a very great game from what I've heard but I'm not a great Tolkin fan and I am aware of the interesting combat it has where you can choose to be a monster when you reach level 10 and go to Bree Town or one of the main villages.

Archlord is being given really hopeless reviews. I played in beta for a short time and found it a little fun, but a very clunky interface. Maybe it improved now but it went Free-to-Play if you purchase the game. But I am curious...how does Archlord compete in the PvP genre? What are its good points?

So far I'm thinking of between DAoC and Lineage II.

Hoping to hear about other MMOs which might have fun PvP too...
Hey, I'm looking for a Medieval Fantasy PvP game. I've done my research and can't be bothered to try the trials because its pointless. You can't experience the full potential of PvP in a game with a trial account so I don't see the point with using those to decide whether I'll enjoy the game or not for PvP.

Mainly I'm sick of having to rely on the MMO developers to get new content into the game (Example: World of Warcraft) where you play when new content comes in and then stop and wait for the next content patch after it gets boring. I don't like playing MMOs like that.

So I'm wondering what MMOs have fun PvP in a Medieval Fantasy setting. And yes I'm even prepared for a grind if its a korean game with fun PvP aslong as its worth it.

Till now I've found two PvP games; Lineage II and Dark Age of Camelot which seem to be very popular. I'm wondering what people think of them and if you know of any better games or similar MMOs with good PvP.

Thanks for reading this!
