What is funny about this is you are so right.  Although I loved the banter that went back and forth between Morrigan and Alistair.  What made it even funnier was the optional choice at the end.

One thing that disappointed me is I heard a lot of people claiming 100+ hours of gaming time.  Either these people royally sucked or they did a lot of standing around.  Finished the game in half that time at lower 90% completion and I highly doubt that the last 10% would get me more than five to ten hours more.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, I was just hoping for a little more. . .

I haven't run into too many glaring bugs in the PC version.  Granted there are a few but none of them have been game breaking.  to those with long load times, after you install the game, run a disc defragmenter it helped a ton for load times.

I seriously doubt this game will have anywhere near 100k players in the US and Eu in 6 months.   More like around 50k.  Is that successful?  For most MMO companies it is.

Here's the quote from MMOdata.

"Because of this, I have set a new estimate for Aion worldwide at 3,6 million subscribers, this will be included in my upcomming version 2.1 of the MMOData charts."

"I believe this is a conservative estimate, and I would not be surprised that the actual number is larger, but since NCSoft is no longer providing subscription numbers in their quarterly reports, I have no choice but to be conservative."

Chew on that...

Nah you chew on it, because I mentioned nothing about the Asian Internet cafe's that make up the bulk of Aion's customers.   All I am concerned with is the US/EU market.   Sorry to rain on your parade.

Actually the parade marches on.  If you would have read the entire thread your assesment  of the US/EU market was pretty much debunked.  But thanks for playing.

Let's talk in 6 months, until then...neither of us can say a word.   I believe I did say in 6 months.   This game will go the way of Lineage and Lineage 2, neither did well in the US/EU - at least not like most  MMO's such as EQ, DAoC, AC and such.    I am thinking that Aion will at the most hover between 50k and 75k if that...is that a bad thing...not for an NCSoft P2P game in the US/EU market.    You people that think it will have upwards of 250k to 300k in 6 months are seriously delusional...the game does not have any staying power.  It is shallow and there are much better games on the market than Aion - hell Perfect World is better than Aion.

Kind of funny, leave this place for two weeks and the same people are complaining about the same issues as before.

There is no difficulty in any MMO released to date.  A 'hardcore' person equates to someone who spends too much time playing a game.

A question for you Mr. Eben, why are you even here?  All you do is troll the Aion boards day in and day out.  Do you stalk an ex-girlfriend and trash her in front of everyone that cares to listen because you feel she wronged you?  I am pretty sure if you were to talk to a head shrink they would tell you this kind of obsessiveness is not healthy.  However, carry on, the longer you troll the fewer people will take any credence in what you say.

For every one fanboy that cries, two more tell me I'm right.

Rather telling that you equate a video game to a girlfriend.  Maybe projecting a bit?

Please, I spend less time in a video game than some of you take thinking up responses.  I just find it comical that some feel the need to carry on a personal crusade to bash every game released for "the better of future customers".  Such a glorious cause, it must make you feel all warm and fuzzy that you may have saved someone $50.00

Has it ever occurred to you that not everyone has the same personal tastes that you have?  Perhaps some people are having a good time in the game but everyone that has a good time in game is a fanboy right?

1 reason, cause it's not easy like WoW

How so?

Please, someone, for the love of <whatever>, tell me how Aion is harder than WoW.

Seriously, come on.  What, because some opposite-colored little angels might come floaty-gliding in and attack you at random intervals...or what?  Or is it harder because you have to gather more worthless shit?  Harder because you have to grind more mobs?

What is hard about any of that?  The game is on rails, tells you basically go here, here or here, leads you to quest mobs via the quest log, has built-in coordinates so you know exactly where to go, has a laughable combo system that practically does all the work for you, has an auto-follow thing that even runs up to the target...explain how any of that is any harder than what you get in WoW?

Meh, people need to make up their own minds.  Then again, therein lies the problem, most people have a hard time choosing what color underwear to wear without consulting someone else for their "opinion".  Oh well, let the leaders lead and the followers follow . . .

Depends on what you define as a "big game".  If you are speaking of WoW big, no, but it does look like a good contender for the 3rd or even the second seat.

Should report the OP, as far as we know he is promoting it.  He could even be the one spamming . . . .

Keep in mind this is all his opition....I much prefer Aion over any MMO in the stores right now. Alot of stuff he states I 100% disagree with so it goes to show that not everyone enjoys the same type of MMO. Theres now way I'd ever return to WoW after playing...nough said :-)

. . . and yet every game that comes out, including those with as much publicity as Aion, people have no bleeding clue what they are buying into.  The OP goes into his distaste for the armor designs, we have known what the armors were going to look like for well over a year!

I didn't care to read any further since his post is a carbon copy of everyone else's that feels the need to post an excuse for their dislikes.  Next time, do a little more research, it might just be a pond filled with piranhas that you are leaping headlong into.

I won't call you a lier or anything, and I don't know anything about your illness.

But given the amount of people playing WoW and the amount of time played, you could probably find many people who suffered some kind of illness while playing WoW, that have nothing to do with the game. It's all statistics... Every day/hour/minute/second some person gets an illness for no reason what so ever.

You just got it while playing WoW. You might as well have been watching a movie.

 This.

I have watched idiots weld with no visors on and experience no health issues.   Granted, I am not saying it isn't possible but I don't believe you.  Sounds to me like just one other person trying to get rich the American way.

WHAT is grinding?

None of those is grinding.

Killing shit solo for a particular item or reputation = Farming

Killing packs of Mobs in a team or solo = Hunting or going on a Hunt.

Stacking quests = Questing

no grind. People only call something a grind if they hate doing it.

Like I hate quest stacking so I call it grinding to piss the themepark guys off and they in turn call hunting grinding.

If you consider something a grind then you need to stop doing it because you dont enjoy the game your playing.

^^ this.

Grinding has been taken out of context by some and has now become the term used to define anything that gains exp in an MMO.  It is right up there with the term WoW clone.

What a dumb fix. People play on popular servers so they can compete on multiple levels as in, pvp, raids, gvg and whatever else you can imagine. I predict that this will solve nothing because players that want to remain competitive will always play on busy servers and the casual players want to be on a busy server so they can continue to find groups. Not bashing the game I just think it will solve nothing. They need a better fix.

. . . what?

So what do you think NCsoft should do?  I personally think they should be forced transfers for the idiots that continue to "pile" onto the heavy servers and then continue to complain about the queues . . .

It takes me a minute tops to stop the chat from scrolling, /anon, and block the spammers (including those whining about the spammers).  For the next hour or three that I play there is no more spam only that of those not smart enough to shut up and block the spammers and stop adding to it.

Of course I understand that some forum goers are above having to do anything beyond lifting their index finger here and there so do feel free to leave as many before me have said.

NC Soft has done something about the Gold Spam!!

they are committed to making this game great -- looking forward to being here a good long while.

I couldnt agree more. Ncsoft is a great company no matter what the haters say. Their the best company out right now IMO. And that included Blizz! lol If they continue to keep Aion running the way they have been we're all in for a great time.

Good on ya NCSOFT!!! :-)

People are leaving the game.  If they keep running Aion the way they are running it now, they're going to be without customers.

As long as I have enough people to fill a group I couldn't care less who leaves.  As a matter of fact I hope all of the OOC whiners leave.  I don't know who is worse, the spammers or the whiners spamming about the spammers.

Why not just put in a filter for the gold site urls and block messages that contain them?  There are usually only a handful of sites that spam.

It is too easy to bypass filters now.  All we would see are a bunch of wwwdotbuyfromme2dotcom messages.

Rather than set a level cap, they need to set up so people can report a spammer.  If you are reported for spam by say three different people you are silenced in all channels and await the banning.  The only thing is this would have to be restricted to whispers since there are jackasses out there that would purposely do it to others in OOC.

I love aion.

Aion owns. End of story. The only people complaining are those people who play WoW and expect every game to be just as easy. Fail.

Aion is easier than WoW.

No, the people complaining are the ones that get tired of the same game with different graphic styles over and over and over.

How long can you play the same game?

Seriously?

Years. As long as you take a few weeks/months breaks in between.

People keep proving that with every mmo released.

Ill direct this question to you. Do you really want every MMO to be exactly the same? A fucking quest stacker with the same gameplay, basic UI and feature set in every game?

When you load up one of these games don't you get that feeling that you've done all of this before?

When I load up a SP Rpg its a new experience with different gameplay mechanics, I don't bring home a game that plays like Final fantasy over and over. Those copycat games that bring nothing to the genre are given low ratings and dont sell, yet the MMO players eat that shit up and are all but destroying this genre.

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke that a 5+ year old game is so dominant. Fuck, I would go nuts if every Fps game played like Halo or every Rpg was the same shit like FF or every Action game played like GTA.

Yet here you are happier than a pig in shit playing the same crap over and over and over since EQ.

It's just like every game genre.  FPS games, sports games, rts games, they are all very very similiar and feels like I done them all before.  It sounds like you don't like the genre so stop the hate.

I disagree. The FPS genre has come such a long way since games like Doom, Quake and Half-life.

Rts games don't even resemble old shool rts and Sports even being a bit handicapped by a RL ruleset have really improved leaps and bounds. Play Madden 10 and tell me Madden 93 is the same shit.

meanwhile most people (that started with MMOs back in 97) will say WoW is just a Dumbed down version of EQ. Basically no innovation whatso ever comming from the themepark (linear) sub genre.

Really?? Tell me the huge difference between doom and current fps, besides graphics?  real time cutscenes?  vehicles?  and huge jump in fps gaming can be equated to the huge jumps mmo's have made.  But in the end, FPS are shoot em up games, with repetative play,  and ironically the shotgun is usuallly still your best gun, lol...

Yeah you really have no clue what you're talking about...that or you only play Halo when it comes to FPS games....0o

. . . and yet you offer up no reasons for the difference?  FPS are FPS, Action is Action, Sports are Sports, and MMOs are MMOs. The only difference between games of equal genres are minor advancements in programming efficiency and gimmicks to lull the less fortunate.

Tits are bad for them, right? But blood and gore is ok i guess?

Blood and gore is something you SHOULDN'T be doing in real life while sex is. So watching porn in video games is bad yes, while looking at blood & gore is fine.

What? Firstly that logic is so flawed it's quite scary. Secondly, if that's your idea of porn you have lived a sheltered life and have some serious net filter software going on there.

The logic is flawed and that is the point.  This is how society is now, sex and nudity is the devils work yet every time you turn on the news you see some guy beheaded in the streets or the gory scene of a mass murder.  Kids are aware how sexual activities work from the TV what they are not aware of are the repercussions.  The parents should be teaching them precautions instead of keeping it a dark secret.
