WAR will never "=" WOW, because PVP will never "=" PVE.  I know these boards are full of PVP'ers and I know there is definitely a market for PVP, but from my years of gaming experiences across several MMORPG's, I have discovered that PVP falls into the category of "be careful for what you ask for."

The reality is, most folks do not like extended PVP play; most players prefer PVE.  PVP games have never competed well with PVE games and will always be dwarfed in comparsion, when comparing "apples to apples" like "WAR to WOW".

WAR should do well, very well, but mostly because of polish and because there will be a substantial amount of PVE content.  The PVP, however, will get old very fast for many people.

This is all very true.  I am anxiously awaiting WAR but I hope there is enough PvE content to finish aside from the PvP.  PvP is great and all but after time with it being the only end game it would be no different than grinding raids.

Though, I will say that this is the first game that I've seen that you can hit all the sites that are offering pre-orders and they all say the 23rd...  Well...  BestBuy has the 23rd-29th...  But everyone else that I checked has 9/23.

Sounds a bit early to me though.

Well it is hard to judge but if you think about it.  Look at all of the beta invites, the removal of cities and classes, guild beta invites, whispers of NDA drops, I think we are spiraling down and it could be very soon.  The timing couldn't be any closer, give till the middle of August for closed beta with an open beta starting the start of September for a few weeks then a couple weeks downtime to make everything ready.

This post includes heavy speculation all in an "as is" condition with no warranties or representations

GFW: How many of your key staffers migrated from SOE [which also has a studio in Austin]?

GW: I don't know that we have a count. Some from SOE, some from BioWare Edmonton, some from other companies completely. It's not like we had to go knocking. Experienced people want to work on a product that can be successful.

==========================================

Some of the devs from SWG NGE have been hired by Bioware to work on KOTOR Online. Given how much the SWG NGE devs screwed up on NGE in terms of game design and in terms of producing huge amount of bugs, I am worried that these same people will ruin KOTOR online with their incompetence and poor judgement.

Which devs were hired specifically? (names?) And what will they be doing exactly? (coding? design? animation?)

Will KOTOR Online just be SWG NGE 2.0 with even more bugs and even less fun? :(

Yes. KOTOR is going to be a re-release of the NGE. It's not even 2.0. They will just change some of the names, and a few of the models, and add some different quest dialog.

Otherwise, it's the exact same game.

SWG NGE devs have also infiltrated Barack Obama's campaign. When Barack become President, they will do an NGE on the American Government.

Hey!  You got the memo too!  See its not speculation at all.

Good point.  GameStop does own, run and operate Mythic.  I'm sure they have the exact release date....

We will see. . .the thing is its very odd for them to be sending out emails regarding pre-orders and free overnight shipping for delivery on the 24th.

Also, your sarcasm is well noted. . .

KOTOR Online will be the same EXACT code from SWG.  Didn't you get the memo?  Little does everyone know but SOE owns EA, Microsoft, and the US Government.  This is why Smedly won't release the pre-NGE code to the SWG servers.  He is just going to resell it as KOTOR Online.

I'm curious as is everyone else but no one knows and won't until they actually tell us.  I've heard everything from this Fall to first quarter 2009....

My money is on it being based on WotLK's release date.  That's stiff competetion regardless of what fanbois on either side will tell you.  WAR is going to have to hit a good bit before or a good bit after to maximize subs, imo of course.

Exactly, if anything I am willing to bet that we will see WAR release perhaps a week before WotLK does.

I think that people are a bit clueless as to why WoW has so many. Casual game, good for people who are not gamers, families play, it's easy to get into, you don't have to dedicate your life to it (yet I know gamers feel you have to, however not one person I know who plays wow does - they just play to have fun), you don't have to pvp if you don't want but it's there if you do, etc.

Truthfully, I don't think even Blizzard knows why WoW is so popular.  The game is easy to play, yes, but it offers the same things every other MMO does.   I don't think even Blizzard will be able to match WoW's success.

I would say Mythic will release a date by the end of July or the start of August.  Everything seems to be running at full swing now what with all of the beta invites and all.

The game has come a long way if you ask me. You also see some good mount action about half way through.

Linkified!

I believe Lineage 2 was this way as well.  But AoC has such trouble and apperantly WAR couldn't do it either.

I'm no programmer or coder, but it does make me curious.

Korean and Asian games always seem to be a step ahead of Western based games graphic-wise.  Perhaps the Eastern companies have better coders than the English.  Also, on a side note Eastern games usually have very limited customization, Perfect World and Aion seem to be out of the norm.

I think you mean when you are a different faction and I don't think this is possible anymore.  You have to have someone else purchase the item for you and send you the money as you can't bid on your own auctions.  I think they changed this at some point.

Yeah.  It's not possible.  You can't interfere with your own auctions.  It's a per-account limit, so it even applies across factions.  I learned this the hard way when I was trying to move some Ally-only recipes to my hunter.

Did this change recenty (well not really recently but within the last few years) I haven't actually played the game since way before BC came out..  Perhaps it has been so long that I too was screwed out of it.

Sliders will more than likely be non-existent.  With it being an RvR game the less customization they have the better the game will run with a lot of characters on the screen.  You can probably expect to see a few faces and hairstyles and color settings.

Just as Ascension08 mentioned the customization settings will probably be along the lines of DoAC.

Blagh!  I hate console war garbage.  Personally I think everyone would be a heck of a lot better off with just one system and tons of games.  Now if only Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo could set aside their differences and make one system. . .well that would be the end of the world for sure but one could always dream.

Serious, it is not an MMO. It is the same as Kotor but with some multiplayer action, I know this and do not need to divulge my sources.  The real SW MMO is being developed along side this game but will be Clone Wars era based and not a Kotor MMO.

The new SW MMO will be announced soon and will be released in 2009, it will run along side the tv series starting up in 2009.

If you want anyone to believe you, you'd have to. As you don#t this is just a random comment with nothing going for it. But nice try!

Im not here to make anyone believe nore force this upon the masses. Just remember this name in the near future.

It is kind of funny because yesterday I made mention of a parallel to the clone wars show (check my posts).  I had heard a rumor some time ago about an MMO being based on the new Clone Wars show being made.

Haha, I couldn't care less what happens to SOE or SWG for that matter.  It just silly to think that you have changed the world.  You are the one having delusions of grandeur nothing more nothing less.
