Exclude your politics from my fantasy world. We have enough of that trash IRL...
People who use memes should be banned from life.
Vanilla was already easy mode so yes, it will also be. But that is what people want... So why not?

it only  takes 3-4 days /played casually to reach 50. If you really pushed it you could probably hit 50 in 2 days /played. It's not even a stretch to imagine he got 50 in 10 days.

You should listen to them. It's just like WoW but it's got Rifts and Soul Stones (read customizable classes). If that sounds like fun to you. Buy it.  It's easily the most technically fit and polished single player quest grind to cap game to be released in the last year.

I'm loving it.

Preemptive anti troll troll?

The first game I ever bought for my C64

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

Well, it was painfully brutal and one misstep meant "Load From last Save Point" (which took forever back then). You had to use graph paper to map your own dungeons. But man it was so awesome.

FFXIV is worth checking out. The crafting system in itself  is massive (currently every item in game is craftable). True there was a lot of problems with the launch and it was pretty much unfinished at release, however, if you are looking for a game with long term potential and not something you can cap out in a week like most games these days, It's at least worth a look.  Plus it's beautiful from a graphical standpoint.

...

I like how angry it makes the trolls on this forum... JK

I like how the game feels and looks so immersive. The scenery - incredibly beautiful. Love running someplace and being surprised by a new view. Love accidently running the wrong place and getting hit for 8k hp too :)

I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it is to group up and work together to solve the problems presented. The game was clearly designed with Group Vs. Group in mind and I think this will become even more evident as people start learning more about playing their characters.

Also, file under pleasant surprise - the in game community is nice. I am not going to single out the people who offend me in other games I won't mention, but I am sure they will be trolling my post :D

In general it's just new and different, but feels old school and classic at the same time. I am definitely enjoying the game and exploring the new gameplay mechanics is very fun to me. There are a few things that feel cumbersome about the UI and targetting is pretty crappy, but I am still having fun.

One thing people always forget is that 9/10 times, the people enjoying the game are too busy to get on here and tell us why they like it. The ones who don't enjoy it are the ones who come on here and tell us why it's bad. We all know it has flaws, yet we all also know it's got it's good side. If you have a computer good enough to run it and enjoy what the game offers, why the hell shouldn't you play it? If you don't enjoy what the game delivers, don't play it. What you may find broken another may find new and intriguing.

Sure, the game comes with a learning curve and slightly increased difficulty level, but that's what some people love about it. In all honesty, it weeds out a specific player base (cough, cough). Could it have been a SLIGHT bit more informative about specific features, sure, but it doesn't break the game.

Yep, normally I am too busy having fun to log on here and get called a fanboi for saying anything good.

I know you dont 'need' more than one character, but on this issue I'm gonna have to side with those that say they do. I always have at least 3 characters in every game. One is the Mr. Nice guy who is usually running a guild or an officier in one, always go out of my way to be helpful all the time, even if it means sacrificing my own items and money to help someone else. But you know, there are those times when you get home from work and you just want to hang with the group of guys on the server who tell it like it is, piss off half the world, and laugh thier ass off because they are having unihibited fun. Hence characrer number two. The third character is my hider, when I want to play but just dont want anyone to know I'm even online. Never in a guild, and the RP personality is always a mute, never says a word to anyone...ever (will emote occasionally but never speak).

So yeah, I will have at least 3 characters in FFXIV, already have them built actually. I'm willing to foot the extra $4 for 3 characters (normal MMO is $14.95 - game plus 3 characters here is $18.99) because I will enjoy my time playing better this way.

I have all those characters too :) Schizophrenia ftw!

I'd say the minimum is a GTS250

BUT you will probably  be much happier with a GTX460 if you can afford a little more.

like whats already been stated, the thread point is now moot... I've already cleared up my concerns with the game, and am still playing it every now and then to see how it ends up.

My OP was merely just a representation of what a newcomer is to expect when first entering the game... And the type of frustration you can encounter. Getting past the initial frustration stages, I've levelled myself to 10, but the game still seems rather dull to me, and perhaps it infact isn't for me.

There are people who enjoy chopped liver and spam.  Someone buys those pickled cow tongues and pig brains they sell at the grocery stores.  People eat chitlin but I guarantee you can't order it at any 4 or 5 star restaurant in the US.  If we start saying that a bad game isn't bad because it's all a matter of taste then you can throw out all subjective critiques, be it movie, music, book or game reviews.  A bad game is a bad game in the same way that the movie Show Girls will never be held aloft like Citizen Kane.  Before you even factor in things like storyline or art direction, you are left with bad programming and lucky for us, the former two can be,and should be critiqued.   Your post serves to provide a critique that potential future players can read before they plop down their money, the more the merrier.

I was going to stay out of this, but you had to cross the line and dis Chitlins. That is just wrong. I don't approve.

Not that I expect anyone to care,  I am loving the game - Looks like a movie on my GTX460

Sorry but if you were fool enough to buy this POS after reading all the beta reviews here then more fool you.

People who buy these EQ clones and then ask for money back do not deserve it as these generic cookie cutters are very open about what they are - they are not offering anything new in terms of game play from the original EQ with the standardised auto attack snore combat and go kill X amount of Y and go fetch X from Y....

Seriously ....

Seriously? There is no auto attack...

However, if it was an updated version of EQ1 with better graphics. I'd play it!

You may have noticed by all the shouting that people are obsessed with getting to 'Max Level' for whatever reason.

The system allows for Freedom, because once you reach your "Surplus" you are now free to level up other classes and round out your character without obsessing about 'Max Level'  Remember, this game focuses on multiclass synergy and not being locked into one role.

...

That is patently silly. Apply this argument anywhere else and look how foolish it is: "We've decided to allow more freedom for women by taking away their right to vote, thus freeing them up to think about other things besides obsessing over who gets elected."

Everyone can change classes as much as they want. The surplus system doesn't make that possible. It's already possible. Even if it is good for someone to play multiple classes (and therefore good for the game to reward people for playing multiple classes), don't try to play that off a limitation as freedom. I do agree that every game needs rules and limitations and that the games can be vastly improved by them, but I can make that arguement without saying that limitations are freedom.

Your comparison to voting is pretty much non sequitur.

As to your other comment, which does apply, I did not argue that there was no limitation. Of course it is a limitation - as are all game rules. That does not mean that a limitation can not cause (or allow for) freedom in other areas.

Forcing someone to do something is not freedom.

No one is forcing you to do anything.

Not even play the game.

While I still plan to play, I don't see how this system allows for more "freedom", forced diversity yes (maybe everyone will praise the system for that fact months later). This system has less freedom, because it attempts to sway you to play something else after so long. I agree that many new casuals will drop this game and the whole surplus thing will be for not.

Really, I think the biggest issue that I am surprised isn't being talked about is the fact that the game doesn't seem nearly as group centric, good and bad things could come of this but I enjoyed FFXIs community, thats really what kept the game going and less grouping SE stands a real chance at loosing that in this game. Whatever, 4-6 months from now we will all see.

Obviously this system is not going to be for everyone, but I bet that more than a few people would like it if they gave it a shot.

Yep buying two copies. Can't wait.
