From what Ive heard alot if not most of the end game raid type content will be coming with the first expansion. Right now there isn't a lot to do end game, although they have added a few things.

3.0 P4
2gb ddr
geforce 7950 512mb

I can run EQ2 on higher settings with much better performance than I can Vanguard. In Vanguard i drop 20-30fps ever time I go near a town or settlement or dungeon. Not so In EQ2. This is one of the main reason I hope that SOE's involvement in Vanguard will be a good thing. I hope they can make improvements were the current VG devs seems to have become stuck.

it did die....its now a Zombie MMO

just kidding lol SWG seems to be doing better. its in desperate need of a server merge IMO

Sorry, I didn't mean to butcher your language Your English is fine. Heck its my native language and I don't use it properly most of the time and my punctuation skills are pitiful.

i understand what you meant in your posts and I honestly dont want to argue we are all entitled to our views.

Should we hold Affiliate sites responsible?

of course the community should holds affiliate sites responsible for their moderation styles. We shouldn't hold affiliate sites responsible for VG Dev/community reps lack of participation or interaction.

we still don't know the full extent of SOE's future involvement in VG. I personally hold no hate against SOE. I understand why others do though. I think they can only help Vanguard at this point.

Tentonhammer is worried about their reputations. I can understand that. However the community knew long before which sites did the "spin control" type of moderation. You calling Kat a liar when you obviously have no proof just goes to far.

I think that this thread has remained positive in support of KAT and people like her with integrity and respect for the community.

And the tentonhammer/rpgsite thing is also missleading.People stated that KAT said they would leave the game, people stated that KAT left the affiliate because they was told to edit post. But that was simply not true. Those things, those reactions, that implications that other affiliate site is accepting. That is what the tentonhammer meant by 'thrown under the bus'. [/quote]

I dont think you are in a position to claim truth here. How do you know? Do you run an affiliate site? What reason would KAT have to  make such a false claim? She is obviously not one of the Vanhaters you like to spout about. She said she will still maintain the RPsite and play the game.  Please dont try to spin this and turn it back on KAT.
Thats ok Atheists God doesn't believe in YOU either.

CODING NOTES
- There is a new programmable shader caching system to reduce hitching. You will hitch a bit more than usual while programmable shaders are cached the very first time you see a different material type in game. This is the last time *all* shaders will need to be recompiled. Hitching should be greatly reduced afterwards.

This is their latest performance increasing measure. However at this time it does NOT work the game fails to save the cache. Hopefully when they get this fixed people will really start to see some improvements.

Sad News But I applaud their decision.

Leaving the Affiliate Program

I have made the decision after much soul searching to recuse Vanguard Roleplayers from the Affiliate program.

I am sure that this will come as a shock to many of you, but I can assure you that this will have no significant impact on our site. I came to this decision for a variety of reasons, but the most important ones are these:

This site exists for players interested in immersive gaming, not to manage spin and public perception for Sigil and SOE.

I will not edit people's words or make posts disappear that do not reflect the image of Vanguard that Sigil desires to be broadcasted, and I will not ask other people to moderate the forums in such a way either.

We are not paid to run this site. We are in no way compensated for putting ourselves through the frustration of having fellow players harass and insult us for moderating them. We have been provided no real support by Sigil in exchange for the burden of being their first, most accessible and most visible line of customer service. Rather than have paid staff members trained in handling this task of dealing with disgruntled customers, the management of Sigil decided it was better to disperse community management across multiple sites in order to lessen the visibility of customer displeasure. The philosophy behind this is that it is better for Sigil to simply be at fault for controversial game changes and someone else who is not Sigil to be at fault for controlling people's ability to express themselves when upset about those changes.

I was happy to run Vanguard Roleplayers in compliance with the non-disclosure agreement prior to the beginning of open beta. I believed in the necessity of it. I cannot, however, bring myself to volunteer to do things that conflict with who I am as a person in terms of honesty and personal integrity.

When Sigil moved from Microsoft to SOE last year, many people were only reassured to remain by the promise that SOE would not have any control or direct contact with Vanguard.

There are still many wounds left from the experience of the NGE that hurt those of us betrayed by that turn of events in SWG. As creative gamers, we become emotionally invested in bringing our characters to life and developing friendships with other players. We become more deeply bonded with the game world than anyone, and when that connection in SWG was ripped away from us, for many it left a disillusionment and pain worse than many can understand or sufficiently express.

I can and will keep being a customer and paying player of Vanguard looking forward with hope to the new relationship between Sigil and SOE. I will not, however, be an accomplice to controlling their spin. I cannot in good conscience remain in the Affiliate program and respect the terms of it knowing that there is a possibility I may be in the position of acceding to a new type of non-disclosure agreement in the future relationship with SOE - one where I might end up knowing things I cannot share with my community, be required to withhold from them information that I ethically feel they should know, or deny them the comfort of being able to express their concern and unhappiness if things do take a turn for the worse. I was disgusted with this in the past when I witnessed it as a player, and I will not run the risk of being that sort of mouthpiece to the SOE propaganda-machine as an administrator.

SOE does not have a good track record with being honest with or respectful of its customers. It does not have a good track record of making decisions guided by artistic and creative vision rather than chasing the ever-elusive secret to WoW-like subscriptions thinking it can be found through the implementation of various mechanisms of instant gratification that ultimately erode a game and weaken its long-term success.

I hope SOE will turn over a new leaf with Vanguard because I love what I have going on in the game right now as far as the friends I have made and the creative venues I'm exploring. However, I am very aware that if what is happening right now had been how things had happened this time last year, I would likely not even know most of the friends I have made through this site because I would not have committed to the responsibility of creating this site nor would I (or many of these friends) have put myself at the mercy of SOE again.

Managing our forums to create a positive and uplifting place for role-players and those interested in the immersive aspect of the game to congregate, share ideas, and learn more about the game is something I am thrilled to do. It is something I can believe in, and it is something that I can feel good about asking other people to join in achieving. To this extent nothing has changed, nor will it. The only difference is that we will not be bound by the restrictions and responsibilities of the Affiliate Program any longer as we provide this forum for role-players.

Vanguard Roleplayers is a community. For many of us, it is a family. We are going to rely on our bonds with each other to find enjoyment in the game. We already have been. That is the nature of our playstyle. The chaos of this transition does not need to plague us with hand-wringing and despair because we are already playing a game that is less than friendly to our desires for it. We can choose to worry about what might happen, or we can choose to enjoy our time together exploring the lives of our characters and the world in which they live.

I am choosing to enjoy myself. I hope those of you with us here will, too.
Im playing and enjoying Vanguard. However, my advice would be to go with LoTRO for now. Come back and try Vanguard in 6 months

How can you rate graphics more important than game-play? Graphics are important, but gameplay is all a game is about. It is like saying that you don't care if a plane can fly, you only care about how it looks. it may look fabulous, but if it cant fly, its useless.
The graphics connects us to the game world, to the story and thus to the gameplay. Each are just as important and if a developers has done their job right you shouldnt have to settle on one aspect. Gameplay without graphics you might as well play a board game.

yeah you are wrong. What YOU were probably looking for is called griefing / ganking there are penalties for these actions. Try egtting into the organized pvp and stop trying to run around attacking noobs and being a wuss.

It is generally true, but IMO the problem is worsened by two facts. First, there is no guiding quest-line or selections of quest-lines which ppl can follow to do quests along some overall storyline. That would keep people together despite the size. Also, the placement of the big cities is the worst possible. I still cant believe anyone could place them so far at the borders of everything thats going on! If they had made them social and commercial hubs like Ironforge for WOW, Qeynos for EQ2 or now Bree for LOTRO, ppl would meet and gather and at least loose the feeling of being lost all over.

Why they made the summon stone system as travel solution is beyond me. Thats plain stupid!

What they should have done woulde be placing teleporters into some cities and villages (similar as in Morrowind), so ppl teleport not everywhere but from city to city.

The add trainers for all classes everyhwere and reduce the auctioners to the 4 or 5 biggest cities so ppl gather there, best also offering XP bonus when ppl log out in a city tavern. And a selection of more social things, like fishing, camp fires asf, you get the idea.

I agree. Maybe  Sigil will take a DoOver
It also sounds like he is saying only a New PC will improve the games performance. I hope They havent made all the improvements to performace that they can.. I like VG but Im not gonna buy a new pc for it.
hit C which should bring up your equipment window. Look at the top where your name is. You should see a button + for your titles.
you friend wouldnt tell you how to do it?

just checked the VG forums and Aradune, Brenlo and Grimwell were all logged in... could be posted any time now.

oh I cna turn everything up to max on my pc too. and I can maybe turn in a full circle with those settings if i try really hard. Cant play the game or run through town with thos esettings at max though and I still doubt anyone else can. Brad himself stated that the game was built for future technology
