Not necessarily:

I've been testing this game before even closed beta, and even though my first impression was mixed to bad, I am actually really enjoying the game now.

Sigh euro same as dollar -_- Euro is only 40 % higher in value -_-

And on top of that they are based an Europe... trying to rip off their fellow Continent-Men.

The point about Order RvR is, at least on my server (also a lot more destro) is actually quite the opposite.

Order is holding nearly always all of T2 & T3, while destro mostly hold T1 and T4 being constantly contested. As for nightly raids: Actually it is the destros who start attacking every day at 4am. (I was staying awake late chatting with a few Guild members, when our keep was besieged).

the council is packed with PVPers  I dont think there is any carebears on the council at all,, PVP corps are bigger than any pure  non-pvp corp.   cause once they get too large they are constantly wardeced  which forces then to either become PVP or  people leave the corp or the game.

so all the issues brought up by the council are going to be PVP oriented which makes the game worse not better.

just go read the forums on STAR TREK ONLINE they are from maby EX-EVE non-pvpers that want a game that they can play in peace and not harassed by other players while mining or exploring.

as for walking around stations  id rather have them spending their energy fixing the broken systems in the game like the courier system  and that grind of a misson system.

I wanted to try moon mining or gas mining  but those are only accessable by PVP corps  or at unreasonable risk

LOW SEC is POISON

Could you define PvE a bit more, because everything that involves trading in EVE can be counted as PvP (maybe with less fighting). Also in the interview it was said that they want to work on the industry.

Yeah, glad they're polishing up World of Warcraft 2.

I don't get why people seem to think that WoW invented online gaming... the whole Starcraft & Warcraft world were heavily influenced by the older and more mature Warhammer & Warhammer 40k. The way they build their MMORPG is influenced by Ultima & Everquest. Ok, they just made it to combine a bunch of good concepts, but thats it!

(Notice I am not using "stolen" or "copied".)

I will not give any weighted statement, I just want to try to explain the rise of such "vs." threads.

1.) Many people just don't have time to play to MMORPGs, so they want to know which of them would be the better investment for their money and time.

2.) Many MMORPGs NEEDS large populations to fully function (for example WAR's RvR), so if people find out that most people avoid such a game, they think that playing it wouldn't make that much fun as they could with enough players.

3.) People like to be fanboish!

I hope that helped clear up what was possible already well known.

Thx of you read it!

1. No  FPS combat.

2. Why look at this game, it is dead. Darkfall here we come.

3.. Grow up developers, we are geting very tired. You think we accept this kind of bollocks ?

You should have read the posts in the beginning:

We choose to reveal the game to this extent and this early simply because we wanted to get input from the players. We knew we would take a lot of flack from a few people who feel it is necessary to tear down any developer who attempts to do something new. Since the art of the game is only at prototype level, we knew this would also take a lot of heat. However, there are also those who understand that we are doing our best to fight a system where new game design is discouraged as ‘too risky’ to fund. We’re doing this by investing our own time and funds to the project, and have for three years so far. However, the team members are committed to the ideals of this game, and are willing to work to make it a reality for those who would like to try something different in their MMO game. Please be patient and kind, and help us with constructive criticism rather than angry attacks. And remember the words of the Enchantress…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Flaming a game that is still in early development is lame and stupid. You always have those people.

But there is also something called constructive critisism ;)

Problem is that many of us have seen so many statements from developers before about their new MMO being revolutionary and something new, who would stand out of the rest of the competition. And in the end only ending up in one big dissapointment, because they couldn't deliver on their promisses.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is a prime example of that! How many players got shafted by Sigil and ripped off $50,- is just unforgivable. And that still stings on many!

One thing that always plays a key role is "budget". Money investment is what desides what you can or cannot do. When you run out of money and thus time you will have to make choices as company. And usually it ends up in either scrapping a lot of promissed features or rush out a terrible bugged / flawed game.

All I hope for you guys is that you have enough money to support your claims and promisses and that you can deliver on all your claims.

Then I say: GO FOR IT!

Cheers

Although I normally go for PvP, this game sounds, although explicitly said that it only contains minor PvP, very interesting.

One thing that bothers me is what they will do once one or both enemy factions are defeated, because either you don't even get a chance or they invent something for after that. The problems with the first one is that, in the end it could end either like WoW:  Just searching for the best equipment; or like Guild Wars: fighting (maybe not PvP) again and again in battlefields. The problems with the second idea is, how are they going to invent new stuff and balance it, when they don't even know when exactly they are going to implant it.

So I hope they find a way to solve this

(And I hope they take all the time they need, I would actually even donate if it helps)

Now it seems to me very clear why in most fantasy settings necromancy is forbidden...

Stop resurrecting dead threads!

Hi,

I think people expect too much from an mmorpg. they expect something new, refreshing! well what new then? A quiz within the mmorpg? I think not. Housing? Not new. A stock market? not new. Technical invention? Happens all the time, not very exciting. Crafting? Old thing.

So what do people wish as new? Perhaps a mmorpg, where you have to buy a costume such that you may feel how it hurts when you get a sword into your loins. I think not!

I think people want something new, but they don't know what.  Just read those postings of criticsm. Most of them only say what's bad, but they don't say how to do it in a way more fun. Most of the time it's just destructive criticsm and not constructive. They do it this way because they dont know what they want. So I cannot take them seriously.

greetings

I think your right with what you say, but the problem is also a matter of the worst of all sins: money.

Money causes many games to fail, even offline. Here are a few examples: Games get released earlier, unfinished, games are changed to suit the publisher's perception and themes and ideas are recycled in hope of imitating success.

Even if the developer has enough money for trying out new stuff, they will go to the old concepts, because they want to make even more money. A sad example is Westwood Studios: They did a lot of (for that time) innovative games, mainly CnC, and gained amazing success; Still they faded away! And why? Because after their success with CnC, they created just more CnC! There was not major advancement from CnC to CnC Red Alert 2 (still only one resource, still not able to place building far from each other, still two groups/nations opposing each other...)

(Please forgive me minor factual mistakes with CnC)

So if we get the money out (impossible) we could eliminate this barrier locking away the creativity of game designers. (For the guy talking about the education being the problem: Education teaches you to go after the money!)

-> Rise of the Infernal Age <- Is getting prepeared for Warcraft 4 (hopefully with innovative stuff.)

For some reason I don't get it really... I mean there is always a bigger fish, or a better build.

Like although stalkers sometimes kill me very fast (ok I am not very much of a tough hero, ->controller) but still, if one hits me, my aura slows them, I blow them away, then freeze them and the DOT prevents them from hiding long enough for me to kill them.

And this even works with other tactics. Not only against stalkers but with every class against every class.

I have my on and offs. Sometimes I would like to sell my WoW account on ebay .
and sometimes I ask myself why did I stop my subscription.

One time I got really pissed off when I finally got to lvl 52 and then burning crusade came and I had to lvl up not only 8 but 18 lvls.

Ans I had once for five month no internet (believe that! ) after I got my internet again I played on one weekend 36 hours or so.

Advice: Only play WoW if you know what your doing
