I have as many alts as I can have across servers. When I try to make a new character, I get the "This account has reached the limit on characters" or somesuch message.
So if I want to make a new alt, I have to delete an old one!
In City of Heroes I only reached level 42- too many alts. I've been playing WoW off and on since it came out in '04. I just got my first mount ever yesterday. I've never been 40 before. In the poll, I voted 6-10, because that's how many I actively play at one time. I guess if I think about it, I have hundreds of online personas. hmmm...

I agree with you 100%. I have often looked at a painting and wanted to see what lies within. I think you have a very positive and creative outlook on our hobby.

I remember EQ fondly as well, and I'd say the "journey" was most of the fun. It was discovering the unknown that did it for me. I think people forget this, but for me at least, WoW was like that at the beginning too- but easier due to the quest markers and such. Imagine WoW with no exclaimation marks or question marks over npc's heads, then without online resources like Thotbot or other simillar "spoiler" sites. But eventually the world becomes "known" to the player. You can only go out and 'discover' Blackburrow once. There will only be one 'first' overland journey from Qeynos to Freeport. But the subsequent return and exploration was fun too. I do have fond memories of trying to get through Kithicor before nightfall. Ok, I'm rambling... I'll stop

You dodn't mention any details regarding why you got banned... you might want to find a MMO that won;t ban you for whatever it is that got you banned... No grind? Good question... There's no game I currently can think of that I would want to play that has absolutely NO grind.

Trying a newer server and finding a good guild might help, but only making level 10 might mean WoW isn't for you. |

In regards to BGs, I think the answer tends to cahnge in each level range too (10-19, 20-29, etc.). That and the extent to which one is twinked out.

I never really agreed with the rogue "disappearing into nowhere" mechaninc that MMOs tend to use. Hiding in shadows is one thing. Disappearing in the face of an army of enemies under full light with nary a bit of cover about is ... absurd, really, in my opinion.
And mostly.... I appreciate a developer with a spine. |

NCsoft may not have the best games (although CoX is one of my personal favorites), but I love their business sense- this show a lot of respect for their players.

I forgot it was April Fool's Day when I first read the headline. "Cool" I thought. !A bard class is actually a great idea, but yeah, a few sentences in, and seeing the "screenshots" .... it's April Fools.
Dang.
That and the Molten Core trailer is hilarious if you played Atari games back in the 80's. |

I think my favorite memories come from my first character- a gnome wizard. Not knowing the landscape and not having an online resource like EQAtlas (yet) made the world seem so vast. Getting through the Lesser Faydark to Kelethin and Crushbone and eventually making my way through the dwarf-lands to the boat... only to be whisked away to another unknown land- the deserts around Freeport. And that was only half the continent.
"BOAT!"

I still assert that dedicating a patch to someone seems a little odd. You can attempt to scuttle the idea, but when one gives their on-topic opinion in a post and then offers a valid suggestion or alternative... ...that is not complaining. That is discussion. Your post complaining about people complaining, Martie, is thoroughly ironic. |

This patch was also dedicated to the late Gary Gygax.... Don't get me wrong, I think it's a nice gesture, but a patch? How about an NPC in Stormwind named Gary and one in Ogrimmar named Gygax. Something a little substantial.

That 386 Compaq is fine, but I prefer...
The Radio Shack TRS80 II! The only problem is finding WoW on 8 1/2" floppy disk.
Seriously,, though, as stated- if you buy a new computer today, just make sure it has the best graphics card you can afford. |

In my opinion, Verisimilitude, or the feeling of being in a real world, is the most important thing in a game. The fact that any one of my characters could not step over a one foot high wall ruined everything for me. But the stmosphere was appealing. It was definitely Star Wars-y. The versatility available to the playerswas great. I loved the fact that there were no jedi players and that entertainers filled the cantinas.

Just wanted to thank you, Pappy13. I honestly appreciate your positive attitude. Much of what a person feels is based on how he or she reacts to a situation. It's nice to hear a consistenly positive take on things.

I think things started out great on Twisting Nether. We only grouped together on our mains. I think the problems started when we switched servers. We didn't just change the place we played, we changed the way we played. One thing I've said from the beginning is: Keep the players together, forget about the characters. I think we may have lost a bit of that idea. I still have hopeful expectations for our group, and I concur with you in that I have met some great people.

Ogrimmar is really a hop, skip and a jump away for everyone except Taurens. Blood elves can translocate to the undercity and catch the Zeppelin with the Forsaken. Orcs and Trolls can get there on the North Road out of Razor hill. Taurens have to hoof it all the way from Mulgore though. Once we're all together we'll probably end up moving to a starting zone, so maybe we should just make one of the starting zones the meeting place. I'm talking Tirisfal glades, Durotar, or the Blood elf forest (forget the name).
Tonight sounds good to me.

Twisted Nether. Horde. 8:00 EST Meet in Ogrimmar. I know Tymora's character name. We can send her a tell and get an invite to the group. From there - we can go wherever we want! Sound good?
EDIT : If you don't know Tymora's character's name, send her a PM via this site. |
