Comments regarding the game; The developers have said that they'll be prioritizing polishes and fixes the comming months. I feel the game is quite solid at its core but it evidently needs more tweaking. The new player experience is currently leaving a lot to be desired. I actually would suggest that people interested in the game should wait until the issues have been resolved. Unless you've got guidance from a veteran player the new player experience is virtually undoable, because of bugs and other various reasons.

But fret not, as I said the developers have acknowledged this and they're working on it.

And yeah, in ER, as opposed to other sandbox games, say Darkfall. You're able to become pvp viable very fast. After one week of playing I managed to beat a veteran player of 7 months in duels. So skill matters, not eternal grinding

That was boring to watch, and I have no interest in such game-play anymore.  Not saying what I enjoy is for everyone... but for anyone to call themselves a PK / PVP and to think games like RIFT is where the true fun / skill is at is pathetic at best.

Darkfall's PvP system isn't fun.... It's downright stressful... I got so paranoid and fearful in that game that it reminded be of hardcore duels on D2... I don't like high levels of stress in my games... That's not fun for me, that amount of stress is just uncomfortable.
If you like the PvP of Darkfall that's great, but you can't say that Rift PvP sucks based on a game like Darkfall... They are two completely different games... the low death penalty of Rift and the severe death penalty of Darkfall are like apples and Oranges for PvP.

That's what makes Darkfall so much more fun to me, the fact your heart is racing and that there is an actual and purposeful reward for killing someone other than to just to kill for the sake of it.  People really need to stop getting attached to their pixels so much.
 
I wish more people would give games like Darkfall a chance, more so if they like PVP and want a game where every kill is rewarded just as every death you lose out.

sorry, I'm an idiot. I made an assumption without proper fact. I based it on the experience I had with the starting zone, which was instanced. Either way, I am glad to have been corrected. We need more seamless world in the mmo genre

I am not loving Rift, however, I am determined to at least give it a shot. I will level to cap and pvp. Probably as a rang/mm/sab or /rang/riftb/sab :O As someone else said, I aswell started to get more and more of a EQ(2) vibe the longer I played (I got to 18)

One of the most ridicilous things I read on the official rift forums was that, appearantly, a lot of people consider being pvp flagged "hardcore pvp" and that all pvp essentially equals griefing. I mean come-the-fuck-on, if they so wholeheartedly dispise pvp then they are free to play on a server with a pve ruleset. I tried telling them, in certain other mmos you lose everything you have equipped and in your bags when you die. But they wouldn't listen and still claimed to their silly belief that world pvp is and always will be griefing. Bunch of carebears, never thought I'd see the day I'd read something as mind-boggling.

I was always tempted, but I was also under the impression that the game was dominated by hacks and bots... which in a game like Darkfall sounds no fun at all.

I played DF for over a year and I never encountered a single hacker or bot.

It doesn't look like a PC game

melee mastery is very fast to get. Don't kill 2 mobs then go do something else.

Erm, the guy in that video has the shittiest weapon in the game (leafblade doesn't count)and it's not even a 2hander. GG what do you expect?

Darkfall is a very special mmo. It can make you angry as hell and sometimes give you sick adrenaline rushes

Also, if I kill another player really quick I ress them. And if I can tell they are noobs I usually don't take their loot either since it's virtually nothing for me but it may be everyting he owns right there in his grave.
