Give it up, man! None of the editors will stoop to doing that. Spell checking costs MONEY!

Poll : Which of the following has turned you off from your formally favorite MMO
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/26/07 1:49:13 PM
I played CoH/CoV for almost 3 years. In the end, what made me leave was the lack of new content and repeated drastic changes to "balance" classes and abilities. Part of the balancing was quite obviously for PvP despite the developers insistence that it wasn't. Of course, this greatly affected the folks that were only interested in the PvE game.

I enjoy "playing" the worldwide AH - the regional system doesn't interest me. If the MMO doesn't offer the worldwide version, then it's like it is missing an important gameplay feature for me. I've beta tested plenty of MMO's and found several that I thought to myself how fun they could be if they had this. And of course, I didn't subscribe to them.

If the issue of breaking the EULA was set aside, I don't really feel there is anything unethical with buying gold. I'll earn mine, thank you very much -- but if you want to buy yours, it's your money!
I just really really really hate the spamming tells in-game. |

Performance problem or normal for my spec?

I think he's suggesting a defrag and spyware clean and try it then.

First Impressions: Very disapointed.

I would have recommended checking some of the posts here prior to purchasing. Most are either gung-ho for or against. Not so many straddling the fence. I didn't like it, personally. Beta'd since August and I think it needs another 6 months to finish BEFORE going live and THEN polishing out remaining rough edges. But I have a friend who loves it as is. Everyone is welcome to their own opion.

World of Warcraft: The Bruning Crusade Breaks Sales Records
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/25/07 10:33:18 AM
I like how the original article refers to it as the "Bruning" Crusade. I'm guessing spell-checking or proof-reading isn't in the author's chosen talent tree.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Release Date January 30th
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/11/07 5:11:42 PM
Been testing for almost 6 months now and based on all of this up until yesterday, I'd say a May release is probably too early IMO. |

I *did* get a chance to use the performance forums quite a bit during my 4 months. That's how I managed to improve to 15 fps in a city from 4-5.
There's definitely some good stuff in there but the performance issues really needed some TLC (not trivial loot code, mind you) before going to beta 4 much less 5 or even lifting the NDA. By the time beta 3 was up, a very high (and should be significant) percentage of people were begging for Sigil to focus on that before working on anything else. But here we are with no NDA now to hide these things. |

Can you put in another option? I'd like something along the lines of "I'll wait 6 months for the second round of reviews and then make a decision."
edit: oh, and I want an option for "I like DVD's" in there, too. I would shudder to thing of all the CD swaps for the 17 GB install. At least they trimmed it a bit -- at one point, the directory took up 22+ GB on my PC. |
|
|
shouldn't that be "end of AN era" or something?

Frame rate in the cities is pretty bad even if you have 2 GB of RAM. I think I once broke 15 fps.

The haters were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT

Originally posted by MaxziusI'll agree with this. The game itself is absolutely beautiful. When you can get a decent framerate, that is. Despite a fairly large number of tester's crying out about the lack of a hook, nothing has changed. Not once in the last 4 months of testing (first heavily, later changing to sporadic testing) did I ever encounter something and say to myself "I'm gonna go put a level or 3 on and come back and kick that thing's butt!" Sure, there's some different concepts like the diplomacy card game thing but that one left me totally uninterested. The crafting seemed very dry and the naming criteria/enforcement was brutal. I lost 2 names with no explanation offered -- I just logged in and they had these very generic names. |

Open Beta - What we know, what we don't know...

Anyway, I just double-checked the regular Vanguard forums and the NDA is indeed still in effect. No specific date has been announced for Beta 5. I'm sure the beta testers can't wait to be able to share their experiences (based on my own beta testing for other games). I'll be patient. :) |

While I am not among those who solo frequently, one of my RL friends is. Why MMO's? Regular content updates. He occasionally groups with friends as well but primarily plays alone. When I asked about other options (NWN, TES, etc), his reply was "I play those, too!" His job is one of those "you have to be there even when there are no customers/whatever" that usually allows him about 30 hours a week of being-paid-to-play type gigs. And he plays avidly after hours as well. Must be nice!
