Here's the trailer for the previous UO2 concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EGWBSjHVGI It'll probably make the ole UOers sad to view it.

Heya. Would someone please provide me with the URL to the house building program they had a LOOONG time to that let us preview the abilities of house creation? I wanted to show a friend something that all other MMOs lack (that I know of).

If EA is in charge of UO2 I would NEVER play it. EA has done horrid things. Hell, they can't even do a decent job in regards to stability with BF2142 (I suppose you can blame DICE too) or the master server. I am also feeling that the NEWER generation of MMOers are beyond carebear mode. There are not enough players out there that could handle the dymanics of what UO was. I would guess that most of the UOers out there now, that still play have been tainted as well. Carebears are the dominate player base now and for ever shall be. The last time I played UO, to my semi disgust people could insure every single item which prevented their loss if they died from a monster or player. That pushed UO into carebear mode. UO still neato stuff that's better than near all the MMOs out there. Odd, I think. Has any MMO created the ability to customize your house brick by brick?

Heya. There have been two times that I've tried to play EQ2, never making it past 2 months either time. I was just wondering what ya'll thought about this. If you've played EQ2 did or do you find the majority of players beyond moronic and very annoying? The game was fun to me except for the constant annoyance of the players. Since you HAVE to party up to do anything they are a required to deal with them. None of my online or "RL" friends played it more than 2-3 months either. We all came from UO many years ago, where you could kill anyone who was a whiner/punk in theory. I think that's been the primary issue. That and can't steal from players or break into their house! |

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Game/On Audio Interview

I recall them specifically saying there would not be PVP in DDO. Guess their desire for a larger user base was needed. The lack of PVP was the primary reason why we didn't buy DDO.

The insurance thing invoked a large amount of anger or frustration (in a gaming sense) in me. I was gone for many months ..came back to that. Yes, I noticed the stealing message. Yet another amusing thing you won't see again in future games. My friend has been keeping up on DarkFall. He said it's gonna have some of the traits of UO. We'll see. |

Ultima Online 2 Movie (game play video)
Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 1/21/06 10:49:06 AM
Heya. Anyone have a link to the Ultima Online 2 movie(s)? uo2.com of course is dead and I didn't see it off hand anywhere being hosted. If there was more than one, the one I was interested in is the flick with the ettin.

I played on Pac. I'm sure my friends that played back then will tear from the video when they get this link. One of my buddies literally is ALWAYS looking for a game to matches what UO was (and yes notice 'was' is used) and so far nothing can compare. There is one positive or nifty thing they did way later, not that it makes up for the sin they commited by destroying the game... the house building ability, tile by tile. That was fun.

Have they made any MMO that has the ability to design your own house tile by tile and piece by piece as Ultima Online added a year or three ago?

I blame whiners and EA for Trammel.
daveospice: I played when they fcked everything up and during the time they added siege perilous I had no desire to start ALL OVER simply because EA wanted to keep the babies around. They SHOULD have simply created ONE server that had trammel and left my Pacific shard alone. |

Nothing will compare to UO. . .ever

I have to agree, at least from my perspective. I have yet to find a MMORPG that has came close to what I found appealing besides good ole UO. UO lost a lot of the flavor when they gave into the whiners and nonPvPers (or the ones who wanted to PVP but didn't want to lose their items). Once I could mine (helping a smity friend out) without the random fear of some punk attacking or trying to steal from me, it wasn't as fun. I've tried AC2, EQ2 (no pvp haha), AO and others that I cannot even remember. They are poop. What was the number one thing that crossed my mind whilest playing EQ2? "If only I could attack this as*hole". Heck, even if you could "steal" everything is attuned and valueless. yeesh, I literally could go on and on (I won't, it'll make me sad) about the things nifty about UO or what UO was that no other MMORPG has came close to.
