A friend told me that the term they used in Paris was "Ambush" to some reporters. Don't you think that word clearly states what its all about... Very soon EA Mythic will trademark the term : "Ambush" which is their word for Stealth. Then they wont stop there. There are all the other points above which they will TM too. Then after everything that can be trademarked is. They will promote and market the game as the best of its type because no other company has a leg to stand on if they do the same.

So no one else is upset about how the crafting is looking. Isn't that convenient. |

Mark on Comparing City Sieges vs. WoW or DAoC

Originally posted by Wickersham Exactly what i was trying to say in the gear thread. It now looks like Caroline Koh for mmorpg.com's Novemember '07 report will be true. There will be multiple instances at end of siege, and I see them all being like long drawn out raids to get the best l33t gear. And with news that crafting is weak and not many components, we will lose the ability to craft the best items in equal statue to the raid like instances from CS drops. Bingo Item Centric Game again is born. Want the best gear for PvP or PvE (RvR) then you will have to CS your life away till the end for the best drops. (time put in will be like a few raids linked together time wise) |

Nice find, but look: Just like AoC: "One thing about crafting that appealed to me was the removal of the mechanic requiring you to be near a specific crafting station (a forge, anvil, loom, etc.) in order to create an item. Allowing players to make potions on the fly or craft a new weapon or piece of armor in the field removes a large part of the hassle and tedium involved. I'm glad that someone remembered that these games are supposed to be fun and not a second job." As a crafter, I for one am glad they are taking this approach with warhammer. It's good to see that they borrowed a good idea. Although their crafting skills look a little weak and lacking substance at first glance, considering they only just went into the game though they have a little while yet to be fleshed out. |

Even saw Pheace from these forums posting on a website. there are videos and screen shots to back up what I said. Maybe you are the only one not to find it yet?? btw its Tikovoo, dis-grunties.. I used to think warhammer was seamless too, but it seems the instanced scencarios outweigh the rest of the game.. |

Originally posted by Grunties Wait till you see both, then I'll take your techical inside knowledge of both game engines and see for myself thanks :) either that or go to you tube and see the website that is posted on those recent videos. I'd take less people with fluid animations and different looking characters rather than 100 people who all the look the same complaining it take 5 second to complete one attack and that the combat animation has 20 frames to it.. |

Whats depressing is the combat, slow, boring looking and your fighting in a bunch of people who look just like you. It needs speeding up big time. |

Best looking mounts of any game. You can see the sword poking out atop the mammoth so yea, player controlled. I love the concept of magic in this game, the effects look great and free flowing action i think will make people feel more apart of the game. not to mention the classes are pretty different, at least they are "half and half", like a "mirror switch"with out any thought like some other games out there. Boring! Conan's mage classes do sound like they will be so much fun to play. Thats another area where they have done a great job. |

You can climb mountains, you can get to fall off cliffs, climb trees and buildings, the zones look huge and fun for an explorer. Warhammer, Darkfall, The Agency whatever, will all have invisible walls, doubting it will be only kidding yourself, trying to prove that they wont is like me proving that they will. Same goes for AoC, it will have some its in the games make up, but the size of the world is massive. Can you climb building, roof tops and tree's in other mmo's?? can you realistically dive underwater and actually drown in other mmo? no how is that for interactions. There are no seamless games coming out in 2008. |

i just a couple on youtube, sort by date ones within the last 2 weeks there is one on there with scenery thats new footage i think. Looks massive and immersive to me. I wouldn't worry about invisible wall, war has small instances that block you in when you go thru the tiers, one enterance at the top of the map one at the bottom thats all. It seems to be happening in alot of games more so lately. Although in that AoC video atleast it looks like there are multiple enterances and exits to zones. |

Thats what i will be doing The pathing apparently is not as bad in some other games, but I bet you the environment looks better than anything else coming out this year when you see it. For me that adds greatly to immersion. Besides Aion / War / Lich king all coming out fall 2008, TCoS no US publisher. No harm in giving beta a go then keeping tabs on the game.

WAR Delayed: Will you now buy AoC?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/26/08 4:33:32 PM
I remember reading in several interviews that Jacobs said that warhammer online will release Q1 2008, doesnt matter if it was FY or CY, this was last september i think, then with the following delay they all said Q2 FY or CY or whatever. Barnett was quoted so many times pumping out we will release 'THIS PERIOD'. Then they give the next time frame of fall 2008. I SO remember in those interviews it was a "we will release" "warhammer is scheduled for..." not a "we are aiming for but might miss it". I could probably find them out but im a little disheartened right now. Somewhere on commonsense gamer, ign, etc. So here we are being told the game will come out "they think" 18 months after it was supposed to. Its obvious from Non press write ups that this is a good thing delaying the game, there are plenty opinions out there, screenshots and videos as proof that if they had released next couple months it would be disastrous. If you look past the official line and the fan sites you see the bigger picture. If your not in beta then well... You can hide behind the official word and 1 objective based rvr part played by press - if you only really knew.. Let me just say too the developers at AoC are just as bad in giving periods. Release period is the same as an exact date to me, you expect it to come out in that 'period'. EDIT : if the game never had a release date how can it be delayed?? why does every news report state a delay then? You can swindle the words by saying a date was never given, however periods were, this is just the same. Even warcry say http://www.warcry.com/news/view/82686 "Already delayed from Q1 to Q2 2008, the ambiguous date is now sometime in the "fall". Jacobs indicated that the delay would allow developers to "invest additional time and effort in implementation and polish to make WAR great". |

Warhammer Online delayed until Fall 2008
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/26/08 3:20:40 PM
Originally posted by Paragus1 You would think EA wouldnt be scared with the Beta numbers they like to plaster everywhere and use for marketing. WoW expac sales will kill anything that releases near it. Not too many people will want to go out and buy two games in a short period of time, esp if they are sub based. Unless you a massive company eg Bliz, looks like any game that releases with a shorter that average developement time just wont have the content and carry the complaints. |

I will be playing AoC and warhammer when it comes out. Its just pretty sad have to wait another long time for war now. All those videos saying YES it will release Q2, then December they said would release Q1. Oh well we know not to trust any mmo company now with release dates. I feel a bit pissed off about a few things. If they can combat all the negative previews and make a good game then it will do well. I mean releasing in the next month or two would be suicide with crafting just gone in, no siege testing, not all classes in game, bad animations and rvr lacking objectives are just some of the massive things that need work on I hear and read. At least EAMythic released their game would release sucky, which some have pointed out here for a while and are taking steps to improve the magic that is warhammer.

No official forums = no official avenue to complain about how Jacobs lied with his release dates given. How cosy for them. But after all the moaning is said and done the onus is still on to release a good game. But still can't post positive things on an Official forum.
hmmm swings both ways. |
