These days though i am in lotro, and even there i still get crap server stability and bugs and that game is 2 yrs old now. maybe things will turn out better for WAR in the future. what is certain is that they are far behind and have a lot of catch up. will EA just close the doors here too if things slide down the s**tter more? |

same experience as a runepriest too. same situations all the way up the tiers. had to leave the game as couldn't take it anymore. There is no trying just a usual zerg fest of randoms without a clue. When other people in game can effect your enjoyment of what is suppose to happen right is just bad. |

saw this post on F13 is it relevant? http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=16216.0 Decided to put this in a post to track what's happening with the server merges "free character transfers". US Servers - Alive US Servers - Dead or Dying (date transfers off announced, included)
EU English Language Servers - Dead or Dying (date transfers off announced, included) Total servers alive 15 US + 8 EU English Language = 23 alive Total servers dead or dying 40 US + 18 EU English Language = 58 dead/dying
..... thats pretty drastic and i thought things were getting better. on the face of it don't look good at all. suppose it helps the littel population left though on those servers. oh well going to wait it out a while. |

Additionally, MYTHIC provids absolutely horrific customer service for WAR, just look at the lack of official forums in this day and age. Just pathetic. Personally, I've had fewer problems dealing with FC than with MYTHIC. WAR isn't perfect, but AoC was and still is a lot better in performance. Wow. Just... wow.
Fixed. ``why can I play AOC w/o much problems whereas with war i keep getting crashed (aka memory leaks and other problems), there a time when i crashed to desktop and guess what the customer service did not have a clue how to fix my problem and I had highlight others which had the same problem and the fix that helped them, this took 3/4 days for them to fix. well, if u like war then play it, does bother me one inch, I am just voicing my opinion that war is all hype poor quest design and customer service, ask youself one question why do war not have a forum for ppl like us to post our frustration what do they have to hide`` exactly.. i am sorry both AoC and WAR failed. i think it is obvious that mythic paid some reviewers to give 100% score. it is also obvious that WAR failed big time, it drew a bigger crowd (aimed at kids) and therefore there is more failure talk. naturally, my boy comes home from school and tells me how upset all his friends are with WAR that the game crashes and is just boring. Hopes were high and dashed. will never buy a mythic game again. unbalanced classes, crap population, shit fed ex quests, no social aspect, no one talks just plain failhammer...
Ah, the "post-fixer". Is there any more mentally challenged type of forum participant - one that brings less insight or valuable information to a forum - than a habitual "post-fixer"? I applaud you for your lack of creativity and thought. Your post almost invalidates itself, with no help required, just by identifying yourself as a "post-fixer". I am sorry you can't take my opinion as it differs from your own, maybe your lacking somewhere? As to your assertions, my experience with the game is pretty much diametrically opposed to yours, which makes me wonder if you've ever actually played the game. In my opinion, this game has better class balance than most MMOs, and they are designed more for group play, which is the crux of the game. Again you neglect to take my opinion on board and as it differs from yours therefore it is wrong? I could always link the thousands of posts on say warhammer alliance that share my viewpoint, they have to post there you see because Jacobs cant take crititism. Just like yourself.. or respect different viewpoints because it differs from your own perfect little experiences. The population on many of the servers is very good. As one example, the population on Ostermark is very good, both in number and Order/Destro balance. No they are not - please do not lie. Pick 5 servers blindly and then create a new character, good luck in trying to find 10 different people before you hit level 15. "Some" like what 4? from 50 are good.. rofl "FEDEX" quests are a staple of every game than has quests, which might be a huge surprise to you (the world is also round, which would probably also surprise you, post-fixer). insults. that is very manly of you Social aspect is what you make of it. Join a guild, if you can find one that would accept you. 3 guilds on 3 different servers now, population still sucks.. guilds were not bad, just not many people in them. Lots of talk goes on while playing the game. I know, I've heard the "no talk" BS before, too. When they added the region chat, that improved markedly. Oh, and again, join a decent guild. From all 10 people? yep fasinating, 3 of those 10 ppl are all kids playing in my house. Kids are not the really social types for stimulating chat are they.. Anyway, those are my thoughts on WAR. If you have trouble understanding any of my points, I'll rework it using smaller words. You are, after all, a post-fixer.
It flopped because it was released to early behind a lot of bullshit from the devs. good intentions went to waste. |

I also think you greatly exaggerate when claiming that it's "not uncommon for people to switch from server to server 3-4 times", and I believe you do so in an attempt to make a point pursuant to your agenda. I disagree, and think it is in fact uncommon for people to change servers that frequently. The game is only 3.5 months old, so suggesting that type of transient behavior is conducive toward a search for stability is something of an oxymoron, don't you think?
This from the person that stated in the other thread "The population on many of the servers is very good". Many or very good isn't a hyperbole here? Many as opposed to few or how do you figure that? Seeing the sheer number of servers that are effectively being closed down you would almost have to be assuming all the ones left are "very good" population wise (the thread was about balance) to get anywhere near many <-> few.
I've also read about plenty of people switching their servers 3-4 times on this forum and the Vnboards. To say the least it's more frequent than a lot of other games, if not the occurence then at least the posting about it (probably some sort of conspiracy though huh).
i have changed 3 times now more than i have with any other game. anyone know why you should change once a month? because it is terrible. Each time population is very lacking.. I've seen more ppl in Vanguard.. Sooner or later ppl will get fed up. Everything points to one of the worst launches in history by not figuring out all these issues the game has just a few months after release. OP brings some great points up. |

EA cutting 1000 jobs will this effect Warhammer?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 12/23/08 2:11:47 PM
so it look like an additional 4% got the axe company wide, Additional 4% to get the ax company wide More bad news from the additional restructuring plans at EA comes in the form of an additional four percent of employees to be on the chopping block over the next three-month period, as the company continues to refocus its efforts and narrow its product offerings. The additional headcount reductions will be spread out over the company globally and will not be focused on any specific studio or business unit. The cuts will take place over the next three months and are targeted to be completed before the company begins its next fiscal year on April 1st 2009. According to our source, Black Box studio, which is based in Vancouver and responsible for the Need for Speed franchise as well as the Skate franchise, will move to the EA studio in Burnaby, British Columbia as part of the latest restructuring moves. Plans to add a third studio in Vancouver have been abandoned for the time being, but that’s not to say that they might not be revisited at some point in the future. While some had suggested that EA-owned Pandemic and EA Los Angeles would see significant reductions as part of the latest moves, our sources are now telling us that while these studios would see reductions, they would not be any more or any less than other EA studios or facilities. EA is also looking at the portfolio of gaming offers and while they continue to be committed to taking risks and producing high-quality games, some underperforming titles can be expected to be dropped during this restructuring process. Currently, no specific titles have been mentioned, but it is expected that each and every title will have to justify its profitability in order to continue development. In addition to the restructuring, EA has also announced that it has joined the Steam digital distribution platform owned by Valve. EA is launching on Steam with Mass Effect, EA Sports FIFA Manager 2009, Need for Speed Undercover, and Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack. In addition, the company will also be adding Spore, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Command & Conquer: Read Alert 3, Mirror’s Edge, and Dead Space, with the majority of these becoming available on Steam in January 2009. The announcement that EA will become committed to the Steam digital distribution platform is a radical shift for the company. EA has been a holdout on offering games using Steam for the PC; it has instead been attempting to build up its own digital distribution service. As least for the time being, EA will continue to have PC offerings that will be available using its service as well as Steam’s." Another headline reads: EA not connecting with gamers Star Wars MMO might be best hope in the pipeline What is the real problem with EA these days? Many analysts seems to think that while the company has some solid titles that have had moderate success by today’s standards, the majority of the recent releases have lacked the ability to connect with hard core console gamers. EA has continued to have success with titles in the EA Sports brand, as well as the Sims releases, but other recent titles such as the latest Need for Speed and Mirror’s Edge have been flat, even through the titles received good reviews from the media. As for the future, we have been reporting over the last several weeks that the company will restructure and refocus in an attempt to figure out what gamers want and deliver compelling content to get sales moving again. While the company has some titles already in the pipeline for 2009, the best hope for the company to recapture market share might come in the form of Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO that is being developed by Bioware. It would also appear that EA has not invested enough money in the development of bringing new hit franchise to the console market space. Instead, the company relied on trying to rehash the same old franchises in new ways to drive sales and this strategy had led to a decline in some of the best franchises in the EA stable. While it will be hard for EA to establish a new franchise on the current generation of console system, it is obvious that gamers are looking for something that is much better than the titles that EA has been shoveling out as of late. The innovative titles that have been released by the company have gone unnoticed and it is going to take a lot of hard work and some luck for the company to get back in the game. It might, in fact, not happen in this round of console systems at all, but instead have to wait till the next generation of console system before the company can get some of its mojo back. " Doesn't look good to me, I have a feeling WAR is not profitable enough for them. |

EA cutting 1000 jobs will this effect Warhammer?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 12/21/08 5:12:16 PM
EA plans to close nine facilities and cut 1,000 jobs across all divisions. The company is blaming economic uncertainty for the unpopular move, and claims it is not generating as much revenue as expected. EA spokesman Jeff Brown says the company needs to focus on "making bigger bets on fewer games and cut costs accordingly." Apparently EA plans to play it safe, investing in popular franchises and proven concepts, rather than truly new, innovative, but also risky title. EA expects it will save $120 million a year as a result of the restructuring, although the scheme itself will end up costing the company $65 million to implement. The company currently operates a number of facilities in the U.S. and Canada, and it's still unclear which are to be closed under the plan." "EA spokesman Jeff Brown said the company will close nine facilities in addition to cutting 1,000 positions, or 10% of its workforce. The job cuts will take place across all divisions, said Brown. "There's a high degree of economic uncertainty, and we're also not generating the revenue as forecast," said Brown, noting that the cuts will take place over the next three months. "We need to focus on making bigger bets on fewer games and cut costs accordingly." ""The decision to reduce our workforce was a very difficult one, especially during the holiday season," Kirk Walters, chief financial officer and acting chief executive, said in a press release. "There is never a good time to reduce staff, but this step is necessary, particularly during this economic environment." This 10% staff reduction is inclusive of the 6% cut that the company had announced on Oct. 30 in its quarterly earnings report." Nine facilities, is Mythic effected by this anyone know, is it was some guys are becoming more pally with the bioware folks lately? Right at christmas.... OUCH! |

I do not want the game to fail but it is. some people have to realise that this game has the most leakage in sub numbers ever. common knowledge the game is on it's knee's in EU. Xfire is now down to 4.1k in less than 3 months faster fall that any other game i know. quickest game after release to hit $10 i know of. latest patch helped but really they need an overhaul to fix it up properly. |
