i have been trying to sign up, but it seems my name i would normaly use is too long. 10 characters max? first time i have ever seen that for a nickname.

my usual login name also invalid. im already put off by the account creation.

i will make something else up, but not too happy so far that i cannot have my usual name.

I wont be buying from HMV again

Quick few questions to anyone else in a similar situation

I bought the CE Pre-order box from HMV about 2-3 months ago, but no one took my name to reserve the CE box. i assumed that 'pre-order' box was just that, i had pre-ordered the CE by spending £9.99

noticing some other posts on the subject, some people said they had given their details. so i popped into HMV yesterday to give them my name. They originally put me down for the SE box, i had to point out that this was a CE pre-order box. So he put my name down for that, stating that there was no guarantee i'd get it.

I believe HMV staff dont quite know what they are doing, i have been told the following...

1. Having the CE Pre-order box at 9.99 doesnt guarantee me the CE edition

2. If i do get the CE box, this box is a seperate purchase and i will not be getting the 9.99 off that i had already paid on the CE pre-order box.

Does anyone know, or can help with what they have been told by HMV, can anyone also help provide an HMV head office email address that i could contact them on (cant find it on the web site - seems only for online orders), as i fear that on the day of release, i will end up in an argument with the shop assistant, and not get a CE box at all.

it would be good to know your exact mothorboard. do you have your PC spec to hand (when you bought it)

as you might not know what motherboard you have, do you have an original CD, or use the Option 2

That Option 2 might be for GFX drivers only, you may need to have a look at any Motherboard manuals that came with your PC, this should tell you what nforce version you have. (also need to know if its AMD or Intel)

sounds like you uninstalled all nvidia products, including your nforce motherboard drivers (inc audio)

you'll need to install these again, this nvidia nforce driver is just for your Motherboard and on-board sound.

then you'll need to get the ATI driver

I had vista when it was released, and was a bit disapointed with it. so stayed with XP. but this week i have re-installed, and dual booted with XP again.

My specs are

AMD 4200X2
8800GTS 512
2GB RAM
XFi

Testing both, latest drivers, clean build, Im using Vista64, XP32 btw, i have noticed that all games play about 5-20% better in XP, than in Vista64, i havnt had a game play better in Vista yet, and i have tested 5-10 of the latest games (the closest in frame rate was game i cannot name)

I think if you had the latest machine, you'd be ok, but i still think that you'd get better frame rates for quality in XP.

i just got it too, couldnt take any shots as FF minimised and i had to end task
