Guild Wars: Feast Your Eyes - Our First Ever Video Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/24/11 10:55:11 PM
And I'do go even deeper on that "graphic x age" topic. Dated graphics don't mean ugly bad graphics. Graphics are very closely related to art design and this one, when good, it never gets old. No matter how many years pass, I still think Chrono Trigger (yes, the SNES game) is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played and if somebody asked me to review that game I'd give it a high score on graphics. I myself tend to see "graphics" as a really subjective aspect, more than the technical stuff related to the technologies used. Aside from "art design", I still think GW looks kinda nice, mainly when compared to other MMOs that came 2, 3 or even more years after its debut. |

Dragon Nest: Introducing the World to the Game
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/17/11 10:21:31 PM
I played some minutes of this game and the battle system is great. A decent made action oriented combat in a mmorpg is rare stuff. Still, I've got this impression with Dragonica and soon the game turned to be extremely repetitive and I stopped playing it. So I won't run around screaming that Dragon Nest is the next great f2p that can beat p2p games yet and I'll give it some more time. Also, the loading times are too long. |

How is that possible that nobody made a comment about the music?! The piano music at the beginning of the trailer is absolutely gorgeous. I hope the game's actual soundtrack will keep the same quality. I'm a great fan of video-game soundtracks, but for me it's rare to find music in mmorpgs really memorable. Don't know if anyone already commented about this but: do you know what really makes me think "Good, boys!" when I play Guild Wars? I don't think instacing is the best solution for the classic "I don't feel like a real hero" problem, but that's what ArenaNet gave us this time and I liked it: You know that quest when a random NPC in a town tells you that some monsters are grouping together to destroy the town in a massive attack and you should kill them so a tragedy won't happen? Well, you get the quest and you leave the town and you find out the attack is really happening!!!1!! This should be kinda obvious but in my previous experiences all that would happen is that I'd have to kill some generic mob where the possibility of attacking something have probably never happened to occur in their AI minds. If I failed all that would happen is that I'd have to begin the quest once again (no burning towns =/), anyway it's still a step forward and I hope they go even further with GW2. I love this game. It probably also has something to do with a weak case of "underground syndrome" that I have and with my tendency of "overrating" different stuff for the sake of they being different (even more when they succed), but this game united the single player and story driven mechanics I loved in JRPGs, the action oriented battle system a la Diablo and the mmo aspect in a very satisfying way. So, yeah, there are games a lot more profitable and maybe this even means something to ANet guys. Means nothing to me though. |

Is the game still closed to people outside North America? I was kinda disapointed when I downloaded the game and just couldn't play. |

Downloading generic f2p mmos and playing them for a week or so is one of my favourite sports so maybe this could help me a bit. Of course, I'm hoping the mirros here will be better than the ones that already existed in other sites. A mmo official torrent tracker would be the ideal. =D |
