a tutorial  on how to set up things like better draw distance to high screen resoltion or other things to make mondels and textures look nicer would be appretiated here!

Links within a multitude of threads for such have been disscussed in great detail on how to do this on these forums and at many others....Search and google are your friend...I tire of repeating it!

You've posted these images in a handful of threads here, but described your process in none.  If you have already posted this somewhere and "tire of repeating it" then please post links to where you posted it.  Google reveals nothing.  What purpose does posting your screen comparisons to the community serve other than to boost your ego if you don't share the step-by-step instructions with other players?

The funniest is, my girlfriend and I didnt sleep at all... I woke up at 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am, finally got out of bed at 6am because I couldnt sleep.... she rolled over and said: "barbarians?"  I said "YESS!!!!"

Just to give you guys a look at our hardware over here:

Im running the game on 4GB RAM, with the new 9800, max settings on Vista.  GAME LOOKS INSANE.

BUT WAIT:

My girlfriend is playing on my OLD box, old 7800 BFG card, 2 GB RAM, and a 3 year old AMD processor and THE GAME STILL LOOKS GREAT on medium-ish settings.

Funcom delivered!

I'm hesitant of AoC simply because it's EA backed. If it doesn't produce stellar numbers, EA will pull the plug even if it's the best MMO ever made.

/fail

Logged on around 5PM... created a character and jumped right into the action without a problem.  The game is AWESOME.  super violent fast combat, great graphics, and.... dare I say it -- this could definitely be THE MMO for the next 5 years.

My girl and I come from a seriously dedicated line of endgame raiding and experience and are looking to get in early into a PVE west-coast late night (8-9pm) raiding guild.  Send me a PM ASAP if you have any leads or are looking for a talented tank/ranged DPS

Why should Warhammer change the way that their art looks? It's familiar to the fans, and it was theirs first.

Simple, because it's been done to huge success recently and we don't need any more right now.

Here's the thing: I have no doubt that War:AOR is going to play/feel/act diffrently to WoW, but it's going to look exactly the same because WarCraft and Wahmmer are conceptually practically identical, owing to WarCraft having been from it's very beggining a completely blatant and thoroughly unashamed rip-off of Warhammer.

Here's my take, and while this is MY OPINION, I'm sure I'm not alone:

I played WoW for years. I am not a WoW hater. I had a lot of fun playing WoW. But I am done with WoW. Like I said I'm sure War:AOR is a very diffrent game, and probably a very good game, but I just spent SO much time playing WoW that I look at War:AOR and see a bunch of places I've already been and I really don't want to go back. That whole style... just... no more. I can't take it, I really can't. I think a lot of players out there need something that is in no way similer, gameply or artistically to WoW, and I think those who don't are still playing WoW and aren't likly to stop any time soon (and may God have mercy on their souls).

Now that said, obviously there is a market out the War:AOR and there are a lot of people looking forward to it, and I hope it's everything those people want it to be. But if a lot of gamers are turned off because of this games (even superficial) similarities to WoW, it should be and understandable reaction.

And yes, Warhammer was the first to come up with the art style, but WarCraft was the first to make it into a go-gillion subscribber MMORPG, as they say: Thems the bricks.... or something.

^^^ Basically exactly how I feel but put MUCH more eloquently .  Thank you -- Yes, agreed completely.  It just looks all too familiar.  I got shudders of Barrens, Goldshire, Westfall, etc....  just by looking at the screenshots.  Places I dont want to soon visit again.

I think, and its just my opinion, that WAR should have explored some of their other artwork that they've done for their RTS titles. MUCH more visceral, grizzly, dark, and frightening... Would be much more appealing to see these orcs and goblins more realistically... rendered with much more detail and menace.

As it is, WAR looks like a saturday morning cartoon.

NO!!!

Quite the contrary -- I have two collector's editions on preorder.  I'm just concerned after seeing the latest screens I'd assumed much would have improved since EforAll in terms of animations and look... Im just being honest for me I felt like I was playing a WoW Battleground when I play-tested it.  I didnt have that "ohhh woahhhhh" moment that I had wanted.

Ill admit the characters looked cool but I was looking for that warhammer style but REALLY pushed graphic-engine wise.

Unfortunately that didnt happen.

Its not only the art STYLE that is wayyy too familiar and likened to WoW, but it's the quality.  These graphics are pixelated to shit and chunky.

Yeah Yeah, I get it.  Warcraft is a complete carbon copy of the original Warhammer orcs against humans template.  Even the steampunk/guns/tanks/etc are basically all from Warhammer...

Youd think then, that Warhammer would at LEAST TRY to look different that WoW when they come into their own MMO ?   With the exception of the faces and some improvement on character detail this game looks like 2004, chunky monkey cartoon neon graphics that WoW has already given us.

They could have really pushed it here and gone for some of the realism and gloss of their RTS games... why didnt they take their own direction?

Top.  3 spots left.

Not level 50 yet but want to get in on a raiding kin?  This is your opportunity.  Captains and Lore-Masters here's looking at YOU.

Requiem is a Brandywine LoTRO guild comprised of former hardcore raiders from WoW and EQ. We are recruiting select classes above level 30 as we grow together towards 50. We are PST-based, and our planned raid time will be 9pm four nights a week (one of which will be a PVPM night.) Attendance is mandatory.

We only require from our applicants that they have raid experience (either in LoTRO or another MMORPG) and are willing to dedicate the time and energy required to build a raiding guild from scratch. If you are interested in working together with talented players to do so, then we are the guild for you. We plan on finalizing our raid schedule in the next month, and are more than willing to put in the time to help one another out as we work together towards our goal.

please register on our forums and post an introduction/application if interested. Contact Ceremony or Cenn in game.

<3 CEREMONY

Greetings Brandywine!

Requiem is a brand new guild formed from WoW and EQ hardcore raiding veterans. We are interested in meeting and recruiting un-kinned players who want to join up with a "from scratch" kinship, and make a name for themselves and their kin rather than latch onto an already established kin. We believe that working together, getting to know one another, and selectively recruiting only enough for a strong raid group makes for a better endgame experience than waiting on the bench in a guild with 100+ members. There is a lot of work ahead (leveling, preparing, recruiting) - but our shared experience is strong. Our goal is quite simple: Compile a team of talented players with raiding experience (from LoTRO or other MMOs), level together, and stay competitive and at the high end of Turbine's LoTRO endgame, preparing for future (and hopefully more difficult) raid content and PvP/MP offerings.

At the moment we are taking applicants from all levels with a few pre-requisites: Vent and microphone are a necessity. You must have raid experience (either in Lotro or from another game WoW, EQ), and this must be your main character (you may not be active in any other guilds, servers) to be eligible.

We are all either new to the game or new to the server, working through our levels now (roughly 20-30). We feel strongly that selectively recruiting as we level and grouping/leveling with one-another will yield better results overall in terms of teamwork and talent than wildly recruiting once we hit 50.

Requiem's goal is to be among the top end-game raiding kinships on Brandywine. That said, there is no question that priority #1 among this kin is Raiding, raid performance, and preparation.

Our proposed future raid schedule is 9pm PST a few nights a week and perhaps one weekend raid/event. Exact days to be discussed when raiding begins.

We are looking for talented players eager to work hard in a tight knit group. You will be included in everything, and there will be very little (if any) sitting out on raid nights. We are not recruiting more than 30 active members, and there will be no room for filler. Know your class, love the game, and love to raid hard.

I played from 97-2000....  All i did was wack monsters, hang out in my house, try to figure out macro-skill raising and failed, got PKd a bunch, tried alchemy... never really got the hang of it or understood what you did...

What do you do in this game to make money?  I remember it took forever to level a skill back in the day youd hit something forever and it would be like ".001!"

Is this still fun?  Im debating coming back for Kingdom Reborn?  Are there a lot of people doing insane shit on the pvp area?

Hey guys,

I messed with Lotro for a month after release but went back to WoW... now Im back with my GF, we're hoping to be able to duo to 50 and finish most of the content (obviously not raiding...).... wondering if there are any cute perks here like minipets, mounts?  Are there really cool items/gear that look good or is it all basically western medieval looking?  Any cool unique items like speed boots, flying gear, invisibility capes, the usual D&D type stuff?

How exciting is this game or is it just basically a level grinder?

From what I remember as soon as you hit the Valkurn Dunes you have to group or be eaten by gobbies.

Tried FFXI -- too reliant on groups.  Cant solo or duo :/

*Edit* - Break?!  Stop playing?!  Go outside....?  sun..light??? NOOOO!!!
