Lets face it, TOR is a gonner, sleeping with his fail wow clone friends.

Sure if you like the game and not bored or whatever is posted on these boards, good for you but the reality is, the game is dying really fast.

Sad really , Bioware is part of EA, and EA just want fastfood and move to the next project.

ahh the quest for the mythical "WoW Clone" is still on. I think just like all the other "WoW Clone" Hunters you are just a closet fanboi for WoW. If you want to get techinical about it WoW in itself is a clone of every offline and online RPG that came out before it. Also every RPG both online and offline are a clone of Dungeons & Dragons, because without it there would be no RPG gaming catagory.  The only way there will ever be a "WoW Clone" is if Blizzard comes out with World of Warcraft 2. Just because a MMO comes out after WoW does not make it a "Clone" when will you closet fanbois get that through your thick skull. Do I have to spell out the differences in single sylable words? Also TOR is not dead. Is it at a low point? Yes. Will it bounce back? Possibly, only time will tell. Also if EA Only wanted fastfood type games it would not have allowed The Sims Online to last as long as it did.

Character Creation: Just like every other MMO, Guild Wars 2 begins with character creation. You choose a race, class, gender . . . blah, blah, blah. When are MMOs going to break away from this tired formula of creating a character and then playing the game? I'm tired of it, but it keeps being regurgitated out by every game that hits the market.

Cities: Like every other MMO, Guild Wars 2 has cities. I knew as soon as I saw that there were cities in this game, just like World of Warcraft, Warhammer, and Dark Age of Camelot, this was going to be the same boring formula we've seen time and time again.

Exploration: As if it were copied straight off of World of Warcraft, this game forces you to explore places to advance the story.

Story: This game has a story. Sound familiar? Every other MMO has a story.

Combat: This is where it is most obvious that Guild Wars 2 is just another WOW clone. The combat is just the standard repetition of hitting things, shooting things, and casting spells . . . LAME. And you do all this WITH WEAPONS. Plus, what is it you fight? That's right, monsters and bandits and crap, just like every other MMO.

Crafting: Crafting is the same in Guild Wars 2 as it is in every other MMO there is. You get equipment, collect supplies, and then turn that supplies into weapons and armor and stuff -- exactly like every other MMO.

PvP: Finally, this game has the same PvP we've seen a thousand times. Once again, it's all about players fighting other players for some kind of reward. Nothing new here. No true innovation.

How can ArenaNet continue these lies about innovating, creating a unique experience, and changing the genre, when all they are doing is creating the same game we've seen a million times over?

Except for the combat part (there is a lot of freedom there) you ust made a definiton of an MMORPG. These are probably the general characteristics of an MMORPG. If you made to much differences from this, the game would not be an MMORPG anymore. But GW2 is still an MMORPG, so most of these things apply to it.

face it, GW2 is still an MMORPG, but there is enough freshness and innovation in it to feel different from a MMOs produced before.

GW2 is going to fail exactly like GW1, you level a character get to max level then realise just like in GW1 there will be no end game content. this is where Arena.Net fails they dont care about end game raids only thing they want is for the players to get to max level then PvP. If I wanted to kill other players I'd play games like CoD, Battlefield, MoH or AAO(America's Army Online).

my only question is after countless numbers of years(ever since Morrowind came out probably earlier) of Bathesda and ZeniMax both saying "There will be no Elder Scrolls MMO Please Quit Asking for it". What made them change their mind?

They say "we will not develop a MMORPG, we haven't the skills". And is true.

The problem with ESO (BTW, the acronym in my languaje means "that") is that having the best singleplayer sandbox in the market remade as a online themepart is a big mistake. The fanbase of the saga love the sandbox experience, and will not like the themepark one. And the rest of the people will not have any interest in a lore they don't know...

I know I won't be playng another WoW-Clone. SWTOR was my mistake, not to repeat.

Ive said it once ill say it again there is no such thing as a "WoW Clone". In order for it to be a Clone it must be identical in every shape and form. There are many differences between WoW and SWTOR. First the graphics in SWTOR is much better than the graphics in WoW. Second unlike in WoW there is actually a storyline in SWTOR that even a blind man could follow. Another thing the classes are deffinitly NOT the same. In WoW all classes share the same questlines, while in SWTOR each class(Republic: Knight, Consular, Smuggler, Trooper, Sith Empire: Warrior, Inquisitor, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent) each have their own unique storyline. The only 2 things that SWTOR and WoW have in common is their both MMO's and they both use a talent tree for their classes. Having 2 things in common does not make a game a clone. The only time there will ever be a "WoW Clone" is if Activision/Blizzard makes World of Warcraft 2.

Oh give me a break, they are identical themeparks despite one being fantasy and the other science fiction they basically operate the exact same way.  When the word clone is used in this context it means operates the same way, which they do, SWTOR is just Wow in space.  You can stop your nitpicking now.

the definition of clone from Dictionary.com(2nd as the first deals with biology):

a person or thing that duplicates, imitates, or closely resembles another in appearance, function, performance, or style

Using this definition the only person nitpicking is you. You look at all of the MMORPG's that were released after WoW and pick and pick and pick at it untill you see what you want to see. The only thing you want to see is this fabled "WoW Clone" and nothing else matters especially facts you cast aisde that prove you wrong. If you really want to nitpick on what is a clone and what is not a clone. Then any and all RPG games both online and offline are AD&D Clones. Cause without AD&D most if not all game developers would never have created their game. Also WoW in it self is a clone of all MMORPG's that came before it.

I would like a Beta Key if someone has one available Please

please send the beta key to hosagi@gmail.com

if you guys think the game did not have bots before going F2P then i have no clue what game you were playing. my server not only had bots but it had an alliance protecting said bots. it doesnt matter if a MMO is pay to play or free to play there will always be bots. why is this true? because no MMO Developer will do what is necessary and do either IP Bans or file lawsuits against websites that violate the EULA, COC, and TOU.

Now for My Question: Will a new race be added to the game?

Has anyone came across any games that they found themselves being immersed for hours in?

Games with a great community and world.

it depends on your likes and dislikes since everyones opinion differes your not going to get a straight answer.

its like talking to 20 different people at the scene of a car crash your going to get 20 different answers.

Me? Have I found any immersive MMO? Yes several. Asheron's Call, SWG(Pre-CU), Lineage 2, WoW, EQ2, SWTOR, DCUO, the list for me is ever growing. But my answers dont mean shit to you. If you want to find an immerisve MMO your going to have to ask yourself 1 question: What style of MMO do I want to play? After you answer that then you will find your immersive MMO.

I am about to be a condescending prick because WoW clone type threads piss me off. Why? Because WoW is a clone. WoW as far as interface and character rendering and all that go is basically a DAOC clone with some EQ1 thrown in. WoW didn't really invent anything, EVERYTHING that is in WoW was in Asheron's call, EQ1, or DAOC before it. The problem here is that some of ya'll are young and don't remember these games and think WoW was the originator and bestest ever. The fact is not only is WoW a clone, it doesn't do PVP as well as daoc(not even close) it doesn't do pve as good as EQ1, and its graphics are reminiscent of a saturday morning children's cartoon, and I am not talking about anything as cool as pinkie and the brain here.

And the sense of community, pvp and otherwise was better on EQ and DAOC, but hey keep riding that WoW train, you may even convince yourself panderans don't suck.

EQ1 had better PvE? Better Faction Pride? I dont know what your taking to think that but can I have some of it? I played EQ1 for 3 expansions all I saw was snobs who had their nose so far up in the air they might as well be sniffing the ionosphere. 90% of the players in EQ1 defined what it meant to be narcissistic snobs. And dont get me started on the boredom known as DAoC.

Yeah... I'm going take a wild stab and said you played neither. Of course EQ1 had better PvE.

If you read what i stated you would see that i did play EQ1 from launch till the 3rd expansion. What I hated more about the game than the pretentious snobs in the game is that SOE made you see a loading screen everytime you wanted to see a new zone. DAoC's graphics were so bad it looked like they asked a bunch of seventh graders to do the artwork. on top of that the one class i do play in fantasy games(if the game has it) the necromancer was more spell caster orientated than actual work on the minions that the necromancer should have. IMO if you want to see the older games about PvE content then the only game you need to look at is Asheron's Call. Unline EQ1 or DAoC which forced you to group hunt Asheron's Call allowed you to solo or group hunt depending on your mood. Also what made Asheron's Call better than EQ1 is that Turbine added content every month without forcing players to buy a new expansion pack. Yes Asheron's Call did add Expansions but only 2 as compared to the 18 for EQ1 and the 8 for DAoC.

Also if you read the OP's post you would see that this thread has NOTHING to do on what is or isnot a "WoW Clone" it has to deal with faction pride. please learn 2 read before you make a post. and the only game i have seen with the best faction pride was Lineage 2 during the Seven Signs Event. Closely followed by SWG Pre-CU(this also means Pre-NGE).

i dont know about the server you were on but the server i played on i saw very few players that had pride in the faction they chose. most of the time all i saw was "QQ The Horde is killing the Quest NPC's" or "QQ Blizzard loves the Horde more than the Alliance" or my personal favorite "QQ Why does the Horde always when WinterSpring and Tol Barad".

Lineage 2 F2P
LFGame « General Discussion

Is it worth going back to Lineage 2 with it as F2P?

ok after looking at the 2 screen shots that were submitted to this site all I can think of is how wrong they looked. IMO they looked like Shotacon and Lolicon art, sorry but that is what I see.

Free to play means the developers don't have enough faith in the title to make it a subscription based game.  F2P means move on.

However, that being said.  It is Korean and by default it's cash shop to win pvp in their mmorpg genre.  I will give the story and graphics of the video 5/5 stars.  Amazing to say the least.

apparently you dont pay attention to whats happening with F2P Games. lets start in chronological order(from my stand point)

DDO Started as pay to play subscription numbers went down Turbine switched it F2P and subscription numbers improved. Same with Lord of the Rings Online, Champions Online, DC Universe Online, and City of Heroes. Hell when Lineage 2 went Truly Free to Play the suprising number of people that came back caused not only the NPC Server to crash but so did the Game Servers AND login servers. On top of that it forced NCsoft to open not 1 but 3 game servers to handle the load. Lets not forget the fact that Guild Wars started out as free to play and lasted long enough for several expansion packs and a sequel. so your baseless assumption that F2P means move on is wrong.

to all those who think that funcom was right for the ban, i hate to break it to you but they were wrong. what they did is filled under false advertisement. they claimed if you paid for 12 months you will get a free expansion pack. the original poster paid for the 12 months and did not get the expansion pack he was promised. because they failed they are in breach of contract for false advertisement, which if the original poster wanted to could have filled a lawsuit about. he did not he told his bank to ask for a refund(which he rightly deserved).

It's a scam to get all your personal information under the disguise of beta access, nothing more.

And what do you think Funcom plan to do with your personal information?

Why do they need it in the first place? There is no reaon they need full access to your profile including everything your friends share with you.

Information like that is worth a lot of money, especially if its from one target marketing group: MMO Gamers in this case.

Not saying they will sell it, but there is NO REAASON to request that kind of information in the first place.

and if you think your employers in the real world arent monitoring your facebook, twitter, and myspace activity your obviously very naive.

umm did none of you realize that with in the past 6 months to a year that SOE merged all the servers down to 1? the reason you all dont have your characters is that when sony did that they gave you a limited time frame to claim your characters or lose them forever.

With FunCom virtually 0 for 2 on keeping their MMO's pay 2 play(Anarchy Online and Age of Conan: Unchained) I am starting a small free and fun little betting pool on how long The Secret World will remain as a pay to play game. The Winner will recieve free cheesecakes to be delivered by lawn gnomes in neon pink dresses.(jk since no currency is used in this pool there is no pot to when i would just like to see how long you all think it will take for FunCom to make this game F2P)

i find it interesting the GUild Wars 2 is listed. seeing the fact that Arena.Net themselves has stated that the Guild Wars Franchise isnt a MMO. THey have stated time and time again that the Guild Wars Franchise is a CORPG(Competittive Online ROle PLaying Game).
