Originally posted by spfil wait, you spent.... three .... WHOLE DAYS playing it? as in THREE(3) days? holy crap man, thats a crap ton of time spent actually playing, did you hurt yourself? =P Seriously though, the game plays fine. It's just like any other game out there though.. either you love it or you hate it. You seem to at the very least dislike it. Just move on. You're not going to prove anything to the fanboys out there. Obviously you're entitled to your opinion. But trying to prove your point, you're just wasting your breath.
To those that walk into APB thinking it will play like any standard MMO out there, you will be sorely disappointed and QQ over how bad it is compared to other MMOs. For one, because it's NOT like regular MMO's. It's not meant to be played as a PvE game. PvP is where it shines. Go into APB with the mindset where it plays more like a FPS.. i.e. TF2, Battlefield Series etc etc. Also EXPECT to DIE A LOT. If you tend to rage hard over in-game deaths. APB will probably raise your blood pressure to unhealthy levels. This game FEEDS ON YOUR RAGE. Is APB perfect? Of course not. It has a bit to go before it's ANYWHERE NEAR perfect. But over all, when you get the hang of it, and play for more than a week.. it is a pretty great game for being free to play. |

All Points Bulletin: What Went Wrong With APB
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/21/10 8:35:00 PM
APB IMHO wasnt an MMO at all.. just a shooter inspired by MMO's. Its a cross between Guild Wars, and Battlefield Heroes. =P and I loved it. If you notice... to my knowledge.. massively multi-player online game is only mentioned twice on their site.. and its in the EULA and Privacy Policy page. and (again IMHO) that was a mistake. Great game, but with lots of hacks, no in game GMs, stupid bugs.. and the fact that it seems to have been marketed as a true MMO.. was it's down fall. |

Is this game really worth subscription ?
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 6/27/10 4:58:20 AM
I will say... that after playing in beta.. preordering and plan on paying $9.99 a month... that no, its not worth $9.99. It's more like $4.99 .. I would feel more comfortable paying $4.99 than $9.99. But.. I enjoy the game for what it is.. and will pay for at least one month, and see how it goes. |

How much skill is involved in the combat?
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 6/22/10 1:16:26 AM
If you don't normally play FPS and aren't used to "wasd" controls.. your skill will be severely handicapped. Yes, very much twitch combat. You have some other factors in how well you do too.. guns (Some hit harder but shoot slower), gun slot upgrades (Some grants bonus damage, faster reload, shoot farther, sharper aim.. etc), character slot upgrades (more stamina, faster regen.. etc) and whether or not you play solo or group, versus your own play style. Sometimes its easier to camp an objective than to rush in, and knowing this is half the battle.. other tips: Keep your cross hairs xhairs small and on target. Your xhairs turn red when you are on target. The smaller your xhairs are (The space in between the lines defines where your bullets randomly shoot or lend. this is also called spread.), the smaller the better. Things that help tighten spread. Aiming or Zooming, Short bursts and Crouching. You can do them all at the same time if you wanted. But all of the above (expect for short bursts) slows your movement down, making you slightly easier to hit. Bottom line though, the odds of winning are stacked against you regardless of your "skill" if your enemy has a ton of upgrades over you. Does this mean you'll lose 100% of the time? No.. depending on the situation, even the Star (newbie starter weapon) can kill an experienced player.. So don't lose hope! =D |

General: Massey: The Myth of Role-Playing Servers
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/17/09 7:03:27 PM
I only join RP servers because most "L33T" kids wont be caught dead actually playing on one. Yeah maybe to harass RP'ers, but wont/cant go past the newb zones. So I'm in the clear. For the most part anyway. I'm not an "RP'er" but respect those that are.. and let them do as they please. I don't bug them, they don't bug me lol. True I've still seen jackasses on RP servers, but its not terribly common. |

There is one that is trying to get off the ground that has a lot of promise I think. Its called Frontier 1859 If we can get some following for it, it might get popular enough to get some funding. I wrote MMORPG.com about it a long time ago, but not sure they ever got it.. or maybe they dont think it's worth the time? |

Locked first person perspective in an mmo is fail IMHO. (I still really don't like it in DFo) It might add to the RP aspect, but in a pvp-centric game.. it's just going to get in the way. Locked FPP is meant for shooters, and should stay there. =P I will say the graphics look great though. Getting on the horse and getting knocked off it was awesome. |

Star Trek Online: New Star Trek Online Screenshots

I think it looks great. I for one am GLAD its not realistic graphics. Since... its.. not real.. and a game. it's fine =) |

I believe the definition of a seamless world is being able to get from point A to point B with no "loading screen". Which is how DFo works. All large world mmo's that are seamless will still have zone "lines" or boundaries. Which when you cross over them, you may notice a stutter, or lag. This is just the nature of the beast. But it is still considered "seamless" UO is seamless, and you would still feel the lag when crossing a server line. |

I'm really wondering how this shuttle looks. Anyone have a screenshot of it yet? |

I'm not so sure about that. There is another post somewhere (can't find seem it again for some reason) that mentions the hack was stickyed on the beta forums.. and that Tacos said it was just a mod, and not a bannable offense. Of course the person that said that might be full of BS, but AV has lost a lot of credibility lately, so I don't think I would put it past them. |
