I know it's not good to necro a dead thread, but I still need some help. I've tried everything that's been suggested, and I still can't get it to work. If there are anymore suggestions anyone can make, then I'd be a happy man. If all else fails, I'll contact support after this.

go to your Vanguard folder then to "bins" and delete the "caches" folder and redownload it from the patcher. It is a known problem. From the Station.com Knowledge base: "Load screen goes black after hitting play

Some players have reported the following message after clicking on the play button, “Vanguard is either already running or has crashed the last time you ran it, click yes to restore Vanguard to default settings”. ...you could always try it if all else fails.

Crow, the weird thing with Vanguard is that there is no way to change any kind of settings through the launchpad. It seems that the only way to do things like this is to actually get into the game. I'll try to adjust things through the properties panel, and see if that works. If you there's anything else anyone can think of, please help out. I've been dying to try this game.

Hey all. I've been hearing some good things about this game, and I've been wanting to try it out. I've been running into a problem though. Everytime I start up the game, my screen will just flicker black constantly, and I can't open anything to close it down. I've used the task manager, and it makes it look like the game isn't even running. Any help I could get would be appreciated, and if it helps any, I'm running Windows 7. I can post my dxdiag if needed also.

Is it just me or do the graphics seem more stylized?

They need to change some aspects of warrior tanking. Sometimes it's extremely hard to keep aggro on some of the larger encounters.

I got owned by too many vets because I suck at FPS combat, I am too used to auto targeting and auto aiming and pressing 123456 until one of us is dead.

OK, truth is, this new patch, just GAVE NEW PLAYERS A LOT OF Resources to own a vets.

You just got more HP, and do not have to grind magic(unless you want) to compete, because Nuke splash damage was reduced.

btw when he said vets, he meant the griefers, the real truly skilled vets, dont hunt newbs or  grief unless trash talked too,

this is what seperates the griefers and the vets. VETS eat griefers for breafast

Besides that yes darkfall is a great game. Just be prepared for the grind it's still one helluva job.

Found it's really pciking up now. Either wait a bit for it or exit and restart. It seemed to help me.
