Love the write-up. I feel that some games do need the overhaul, but some should be left as is and perhaps a new games released under the title (UO for instance). Why not Ultima Online 2? Expand upon it and move forward.

I have mixed feelings, but it's mostly due to two things. Lack of time for me to play and my computer can barely run it at the lowest settings. So, unfortunately, I won't be purchasing the game as it would only collect dust until the day I CAN afford a new gaming rig. I'm by no means faulting the developers for my older computer, but I had to give it a shot just to see what the fuss was all about. So I would turn-up all the settings, make a character (which would take up most of my game time) and ran around smashing things and using the tunnelling ability to get around. That was fun apart from trying to get around certain obstacles. Sadly, I did not get to be that immersed into the game due to the time factor and comp suckage. Will it hit CoH/V hard and take away a lot of it's players? That's something I've been wondering about.

Anyway, if my situation were different I'm sure I'd be jonsin' a bit to play. Games can be terribly addictive afterall.

It's very possible.  Even I am in 1.2 Chinese version now and I enjoy the game a lot, but there is a posiblity here.  After Honymoon period is over, peopel will start complaining.  Look EVE online as crapy as it is, there are still people playing, even WAR still have a lot of followers.  1.3.1 seems will trun the game around, so you never know.

ROFL - I hope your as sarcastic as I was in my post.

EVE is a fantastic game if you take the time to learn how to play it. Its learning curve is very steep though...

When I am crafting in Aion, I play EVE in the back ground.
EVE is very easy,  it did not take me long to learn it.  Don't glorify the game.

Please tec. Eve is one of the hardest mmo's to learn. Again its not hard to learn being a carebear in high sec mining like a mindless drone. Everyone should listen to someone who plays a game in the background. Stay in high sec and off forums.

Off topic, but was this graph made by a 12 year old? Unless you're involved in some advanced physics, time shouldn't depend on anything.

It's from GraphJam: http://graphjam.com/upcoming/?pid=19602

And it's also meant as humour and not to be taken seriously.

instead of sitting behind ur little screens in moms basement waiting for some fking lame playboy (and yes.. it will suck.. pretty much) pixel mmo to come out.. how about moving ur fat/skinny asses outside and looking for REAL bewbs boobs bewbs.. that you horny mofos can hug 24/7 as it is ''AWESUM'' like 1 said on other thread.. tho dont cum when u kids touch em.. nothing special on those..
gotta hate teenagers.. aint that a bitch..

and soon ill see loads of flaming as i prolly got to the weakspots of those skinny/fat fellas.. hahaha ^^

Please don't tell them that. I know I don't enjoy some guy being all clingy and especially around my breasts. That's not cool at all. And it's not just teenagers who behave that way, sadly.

How very sad that that child felt the "need" to lie that way. I hope his situation rattles his senses and makes him realize how daft he was for pretending to be suicidal.

I flippin' HATE when people do that. It's not funny and it's not something to be joked about. I've been around suicidal people and have known those to have done it. It really isn't a laughing matter.

Of course online you find a lot of jerks who think it is funny. And if you don't laugh then you need a thicker skin. Whatever happened to treating others as you'd want to be treated?

It's just too damned easy to hide behind words these days.

Could anyone tell me why they'd say this?

I was planning to give Zu Online a try, but it says to not install the game to the C drive if you have Vista. Well, my laptop only have C on it and I'm not planning to partition. I poked around the site, but their forums are down so I cannot ask there.

So if anyone has an answer, please share. Seems a bit odd that pretty much all the IGG games have this same "warning".

Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm also looking for a Buddy Pass for AoC. If anyone does have one, please and thank you in advance. :)

I have passes for Lineage2 and er... what else... CoH/CoV. Although, I think you can get those anyway. But if anyone wants them in turn, please say. :)

Thanks in advance!

Drop me a line here or at robotika at gmail dot com.

Thanks :D

I've never read this guy's written work before. Is he always this way? If this isn't his attempt at humour then perhaps he needs to step away from the computer a while. A good looooooong while at that.

It's a pretty insulting piece and I could go into details on why I feel it is, but then again I'm not a psychologist. So I'm reading it the way I (for lack of better wording) want to read it. A touch sexist with a smear of macho BS.

Think I'll stop here before I get into my ranty mcrant rant.

PS - The guy/female that said we couldn't recognize humour. Perhaps if the humour wasn't written as if it were some insecure male in high school, then the humour would be legible. If this is humour then this is the worst satire I've ever read.

Eh... WoW is pretty much a mainstream game. It's really no surprise that they're using the game to advertise real world items now. Would you really be all that surprised if there was WoW cereal?

Or who knows... Maybe the next time you grab a box of Lucky Charms there will be a DVD in the box for a free 14 day trial of WoW. :P

Wow. Ok, well I've never posted here before and I'm probably going to get bashed for this but ...What servers are you people playing on? My husband and I play on Blackburrow and there seems to be lots of guilds working end game stuff. Obviously SoE will never be able to satisfy every single person but are you sure you've put as much effort into playing/ exploring the game/ content as you have posting and complaining about it? Its a rpg game , not a fashion show. I can log on and find stuff to do , even solo.. and my main is a Templar!..If people who are guilded can't even put together a 2 group raid for some updates, thats just Sad. You need a new guild. A new server , something...If its because the person is just whining well then log off and let the other people play it. Its a game that you pay to play. If your not happy with it then stop paying and playing and let others who do like it enjoy their time on it. There is plenty of other *easier* games for the simple folk. Like what was it on south park..Hello Kitty Island something? Maybe go fish? Come on people , its not that hard, but you do have to put a little effort into it. No one is going to Hand you an end game weapon and say here, you whined here you go. If you can't take the tools we have currently and get what you want then maybe you should look to yourself for the solution, because you are so obviously the problem. I'm so tired of reading endless crap posts from people who try to sound like they know everything when the crap they spit out of their own mouth proves they know nothing. Maybe Hello Kitty or the local old folks home has a spot in their bingo game for you...

To QuietGamer: I think I love you for this post. Your first and it's bang on.

To All The Whiners:
I ALWAYS find things to do in the game. If it's gotten boring, then take a break from the game for a while or find something else to play instead. It's not that hard to drop the game. I've taken breaks twice and came back to more enjoyment.

My main is also a Templar (70) and yes she raids on and off, but I also enjoy running around collecting shinies and harvesting for rares. It's how I make my coin when I want to relax.

I also drop down to my lower characters to group and have fun with levelling. It's not that hard to do, people!

If you're not a social person to begin with or come off with a crap attitude, then finding nice guilds or groups or raids won't come easy.

So stop your f'n whinging and go level already!

Now if you'll excuse me, my main has a new outfit to pick out. :P

Will he be up again if they reset servers?

Sadly, no. I heard he got banned.

It is very sad when this sort of thing occurs. But it's also sad when anything horrible happens to another person.

I'm wondering if it wasn't just fatigue, but perhaps the lack of water intake or food. More so the water than the food aspect. I know that the results vary. Some say you can go 3 days without water. Others say longer. But if he was dehydrated then it's just that extra bit that can create havoc on ones own body.

Who knows what else was going on with that particular man. I guess we'll never really know.

This feeling is sorely lacking in most MMOs. At least the ones I've played.

Guild Wars does have the cut scenes and I felt that it gave more of an atmosphere than not. Of course, running through the same instances getting the same cut scenes does get tiresome.

I feel that we'd only really get the emotion and atmosphere by having more games that are sandbox. As it is, it's all the same stuff getting repeated over and over in a lot of the newere MMOs.

But who's to say things won't change with the even newer titles that are being released or are currently in the works.

LOTR, Starwars, Harry Potter, Warhammer and pretty much everything else I can think of has TONS, and I mean TONS of fans, but most of their fans read books, play table top games or use another medium that isn't based on the computer. Their fans are not computer users.

The only thing that will topple WoW is WoW2

i'm guessing that's just poor wording on your part, but there are a lot of computer users that are into the other things you've mentioned.

i enjoy Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR and Warhammer. i read a lot and dork out with table top gaming (Cyberpunk) on a monthly basis. i'm also a social individual that enjoys a good party (and not the kind in an MMO. :P) this doesn't mean that i'm not a computer user, because i am a gamer and avid computer user on top of everything else.

i could go on, but i'd start to sound like a personal ad in a newspaper. ;P

The problem is, the first MMO is always the best, no matter what happens. It's the first kiss of the online world. Look at the EQ / UO / DAOC veterans, they love their first game (me too ><) and will forever compare newer games with their first one, and so its with the MMO newcomers in wow (should be the first MMO for around 90% of the playerbase). They'll stay there for some time, because the appeal of the first is just stronger than the discernment. Give them some more time.

you're quite right. i played UO and AO before i got into SWG. but SWG was really my first MMO that i sunk time (and money) into that i loved. i befriended quite a few that i still talk to today. many fond memories were built around the SWG of old. after they got mounts and vehicles, but way before the CU. to me, SWG was my "first".

UO and AO don't make it on that list since i got into both due to ex boyfriends of mine.

i will forever compare other MMOs to SWG of old.

that being said, and trying to get back on topic, i don't feel any of the games listed will bump WoW out of the running. it's easy to get into and no steep learning curves. so i'm not entirely certain WoW will be "destroyed" instead it will just fade with time.

For $1500 I would want it to do the typing for me......
$1500 for a keyboard, and there are people starving in the world

The starving argument holds no weight here. Think about it, everyone posting right now is posting from a computer that could have been food instead of a computer, for a starving person. *SNIP*

I don't know about you, but I've never tried to eat a keyboard before. Even if I'm very, very hungry I'd rather eat ramen noodles over plastics any day. ;P

Then again... ramen noodles aren't that much better. *grin*

I'm wasn't sure what you were asking exactly as I didn't notice a question.
But I'm 51 and I play Eve, great bunch of people, lots of older players.
Seriously though, get a dog. Hell get two dogs. Much better than any online game.

Or get 1 cat and a game. An older cat that loves to spend time on your lap. That way you'll be able to game, meet people, and also have the relaxing sensation of a purring cat on your lap. ;)

My cat does nothing of the sort :( When she was little, she chased my mouse cursor while trampling over my keyboard. Now that she's older, she runs up and down in front of my face, bumps her head against my hands (while I'm trying to type or move or use my mouse) and tramples over my keyboard meanwhile.

Lol. That makes me wish I still had a cat or two. I miss having them around. Mine never did that though. Although, they would try to take over my shoulders. Both of them at once. Does not make for easy typing or gaming.

I am a huge fan of MMOs. But I have a major problem of being unable to commit to a character. I enjoy most of the big MMOs on the market. But I often end up getting so paralyzed with indecision about which of my (always many)characters to play, that I often end up quitting out of frustration. Even when I still enjoy the game itself. I know it may sound silly to some, but I just keep doing it over and over again!
Anyone else find themselves being a compulsive hoarder of characters? Does it end up effecting your enjoyment one way or the other? Anyone manage to break the habit?

I had this same exact problem. Making alts, deleting characters, just really unsure of my characters in general. All that stopped when I found the right game. It actually wasn't what was wrong with me but what was wrong with all the games I had been playing. Now I have a character that I absolutely have never thought about deleting because I think he is just awesome.

Which game are you refering to, seabass2003? I'm all curious now and I must know! ;)
