Age of Conan will survive, but it will never be a huge success. Funcom had it in their pocket and pissed it away without any remorse what so ever.

To those that stick with AoC: I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you can find whatever it is you're looking for there.

We were told that AoC was the end all PvP paradise.

We were lied too.

It looks like WAR, AION or TCoS are going to be our choices. Age of Conan had a shot, just like Fury, at being the pvp game of choice, and it was screwed to hell.

You keep pushing how great the game is, then turn around and beg people here to message you in game. Must be something very flawed with the game if you can't find a group there and resort to coming here.

Wow, look it's DX10!

Looks like Funcom has to hype the BS that was supposed to be in at launch just to maintain what few subscribers they have left, or possibly pull in a few more saps that don't know any better.

They hyped the hell out of DX10 for a year and a half prior to release only to pull the rug out from under our feet. Shame on you Funcom, and those of you trying to push the Funcom agenda and screw over your fellow gamers.

This game has not improved since launch, in fact it is 10 times worse. Every patch they have introduced has messed things up even more. Take that and factor in the crazy nerfing, mass duping, and lack of any pvp due to dead servers and you have "FAIL" of epic proportions.

I still log on from time to time to chat up a few friends that still play AoC on a semi regular basis while they await upcoming releases.

The worst offenders on the Bane and Tyranny servers are still active, and have not been banned. They still have mass amounts of gems as well as gemmed out armors on the market. You automatically assume none of us log in to check this stuff. And you do realize MOST MMOs that have had dupe issues HAVE done things to correct the problem (rollbacks, item wipes, etc.).

Its like you've only ever played WoW, Vanguard and AoC, seriously.

Don't worry about a "breach of etiquette", as there wasn't one .

Anyway, it sure sounds that way after reading that post. It isn't surprising, and I imagine we'll see more people heading out in the coming months.

Funcom finally fixed the gem dupe, but they did no wipes, and the exploiters get to keep their ill gotten gains. This will have a lasting effect on things, such as the economy and pvp, for some time.

If so, how was it fixed...

a) no one can dupe any more, but those who cheated keep gems

b) no one can dupe any more, and those who cheated had their duped gems taken away.

c) no one can dupe any more, and those who cheated had their duped gems taken away, and those who made a killing frm selling dupes gems armor kits are banned from the game.

If a is the case, it makes me puke.If b is the case, I may consider going back at some point. c) would restrore my faith that this game will not tolerate rampant exploits (and by explaoits, I mean hacking and serious cheating, not shooting someone from some stairs)

They fixed the dupe, but didn't remove any gems, armor, gold, they didn't ban anyone, and they didn't do a thing to fix the economy.

So, All those dupers have a serious advantage with their gemmed out armors and filled gold pouches.

Of course I'm sure Mr. Ellingsen ... I mean MrBloodwhatever ... will try to spin this in a positive way.

About $8 million dollars for them. Add in 2 months of 415,000 people paying for subs, you're looking at $12.45 million.

If Age of Conan cost $50 million to develop than Funcom needs to earn approx. $30 million more to break even on the development of AoC.

I don't think the blame falls solidly on Age of Conan.

There has been a string of buggy and broken MMOs released over the past several years. AoC just happened to be the breaking point for most of us.

Also, do a google for Age of Conan cut classes and prestige classes. Several classes were cut from the game with others being merged into other classes (Lich into Necromancer, and Stormcaller / Scion of Set into Tempest of Set). Prestige classes were totally removed, but I believe a few of their feats were merged into existing classes.

This was done fairly late in development and might go a long way towards explaining why class balance is so horrible.

Cons: Rampant exploiting, no end game, no pvp rewards (blood money), no dx10 (after it was promised), horrible social options (Guild panel), GM Petitions take days to get responses, Getting banned for using game "Features" (Take the high ground!), Fanatic Fanbois telling funcom everything is alright instead of helping them to fix what isn't right (Avery *cough*), and last but not least FUNCOM.
