I've played many, many MMOs since 1997.

Including EQ, WoW, WAR ... etc. And I really enjoy RIFT.

Yes, it's a mishmash of WoW and WAR, but it's extremely well done and if you like either of those two games I'm sure you'll Enjoy RIFT, at least for a month or two.

BETA!

After playing in the last Beta event (I got in late and only had a full day of play) I can honestly say:

I can't wait for the next!

The game is much better than I thought it would be.

WTF?

Wheres Darkfall?

Eh, guess I'll share my spare ...

I had all my points last night, 4500 of them. When I logged in deeds started ticking off, more points were added ...

So no problem here.

And you've seen the store, are people really that desperate to buy a few cloaks, dresses, and heal pots that they can't wait a couple days?

I mean, I could understand if there was something on there actually worth a squirt of piss (Maybe the stat tomes ... maybe).

Well, you don't need to pay to unlock them.

You earn Turbine Points by completing Deeds and such, you can then spend those points to unlock the needed content.

It takes longer, but if you don't mind a bit of a grind you won't need to pay for much if at all. I've unlocked a HUGE portion of DDO for free in this way.

The vast majority of LotRO players (Just like every other MMO community) don't use forums.

If VG went F2P, I'd be all over it in a second!

SOE should really consider switching Vanguard over to F2P as a latch-ditch attempt at reviving it. It'd attract more people to the game, they'd probably start making some more money, which means they could hire more devs to get the ball rolling faster, and they may just save it.

If Vanguard went F2P I'd jump on it in a heartbeat!

Same with AoC and WAR ...

People need to keep in mind as more triple A's head in this direction F2P is going to come to mean something other than a spam filled, low quality, grindfest.

I've tried forcing AA through Nvidia control panel (Didn't work), then I tried nHancer and no go :(.

I like the game, but the jaggies are making it really hard to get into.

Lifetime offer is the biggest scam in MMORPG genre so far.

Except LOTRO. Those people really got worth for their money.

But then again, that game was actually polished and of good quality at launch.

And the Lifetime offer in the beginning was only offered to the Closed Beta testers at start, for their loyal support and longtime testing of the game. Along with a founder title.

No, including Lotro.

Lotro just released a paid expansion SOM for a price of 20$ (US) / 30$ (EU) with some additional bonus packages (like 2 more character slots, shared bank storage, and some useless trinkets) for another 10$, that contained one zone and content for 60-65. CO is gonna release a paid expansion probably in the same price zone, that will add content for 37-40 and one zone.

Isn't that kinda -... similiar?

No, no it is not.

And I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain the difference to you, as a quick look at your post history shows you have no love for Turbine or LotRO.

i.e. You won't change your mind, and you'll continue with the snide remarks and blatant misinformation.

Unlike CatinBoots, I'm willing to help you learn the game. It isn't about the brocade boxes or xp kick ups ... it's more like the AC patron / vassal setup for me. I formed some really good, lasting friendships with that system.

If you decide to roll on The Billows (east coast server) use my code and I'll be in touch asap :)

Hahahaha ... good one Deth, good one.

Shall I dig through the LotROVault forums and post some links here so the good people can see just how "Down with that" you really are?

I will try Darkfall.

Why?

Because MMOs have gotten into a rut ... a MAJOR rut. I'm sick and tired of hand holding, false dangers, level grinding to get to the meat of the game, gear grinds, pvp without reprocussions, zones and instances, and the whole theme park feel.

I miss the sense of danger as you left town, hell even the sense of danger you got when entering town (Hope I can make it to the bank before a thief grabs my house key).

If Darkfall can capture even half the feeling than I'd consider it a success.

its obvious you are trolling.

we all know that graphics are not darkfalls strong point.

They are good, and I think spectacular in some places, but they are not as good as VG.AOC or LOTRO. Although in some aspects I think they are better.

Mind you none of the games I mentioned ran at a steady FPS of 75 on my machine, especially when other people were around me.

No, graphics are not the strong point and it's understandable. But you can still compare the artistic direction of each game. I imagine Darkfalls direction is a cross between AoC and VG, dark and gritty but high fantasy at the same time.

LotRO is a PvE game it's true, but it does it well. The same can't be said of recent PvP releases ... Hell, WAR and AoC can't hold a candle to UO: Pre-Ren or AC Darktide.

*Edit*

Yes, I will be playing Darkfall ... if they ever open up the shop.

So tell me.. why the fuck are you talking about LOTRO and AoC graphics on the DF board? Go to some hello kitty irc channel.

Trolling is ok, but something completely unrelevent to DF is just waste. Why would a LOTRO player even be on this board anyways?

Some of us can appreciate a good game, even if it doesn't include full loot pvp. Quit stereotyping, and take the blinders off ... you're missing some good things.

Good for you. Do it in the proper forum.

This is the proper forum. The provided screenshots are there so once we have a few DF screens we can compare some of the differing artistic styles between a few of the "newer" MMOs.

The "kid in a field" is my Halfling Druid. I didn't really have a VG screen that matched the AoC and LotRO shots (Toon facing towards, with buildings / NPCs in the background).

I can't really say I enjoy one games visuals over the others, as they each have their own style.

I wish I could supply a DF screenshot or two, but sadly I can't buy the game yet.

So ... heres a shot of LotRO, AoC, and VG .
