Why?

Because MMOs have gotten into a rut ... a MAJOR rut. I'm sick and tired of hand holding, false dangers, level grinding to get to the meat of the game, gear grinds, pvp without reprocussions, zones and instances, and the whole theme park feel.

I miss the sense of danger as you left town, hell even the sense of danger you got when entering town (Hope I can make it to the bank before a thief grabs my house key).

If Darkfall can capture even half the feeling than I'd consider it a success.

They are good, and I think spectacular in some places, but they are not as good as VG.AOC or LOTRO. Although in some aspects I think they are better.

Mind you none of the games I mentioned ran at a steady FPS of 75 on my machine, especially when other people were around me.

No, graphics are not the strong point and it's understandable. But you can still compare the artistic direction of each game. I imagine Darkfalls direction is a cross between AoC and VG, dark and gritty but high fantasy at the same time.

LotRO is a PvE game it's true, but it does it well. The same can't be said of recent PvP releases ... Hell, WAR and AoC can't hold a candle to UO: Pre-Ren or AC Darktide.

This is the proper forum. The provided screenshots are there so once we have a few DF screens we can compare some of the differing artistic styles between a few of the "newer" MMOs.

The "kid in a field" is my Halfling Druid. I didn't really have a VG screen that matched the AoC and LotRO shots (Toon facing towards, with buildings / NPCs in the background).

I can't really say I enjoy one games visuals over the others, as they each have their own style.

I wish I could supply a DF screenshot or two, but sadly I can't buy the game yet.

From reading your post I'd say you never played UO. So if you've never played UO, and you've never played DF than your opinion is invalid and your logic is flawed.

Wouldn't it be nice to have something like  the Outfitting system that LotRO has?

I know there have been times where I didn't want to ditch a piece of armor because I really liked the way it looked. 

Sadly the game you want is dead.

Fury (Pre-Chosen) fit that bill.

The whole idea behind this game is the war ... not some small skirmish ... but a WAR between the Sith and the Jedi.

Jedi are more than plentiful (as are sith) at this period of time, and the war is supposed to be MASSIVE!

So, it looks like those of you that want a Jedi-less game are going to have to find a different MMO to play ... I hear Stargate is coming along nicely.

Personally I can't wait for this game.

Tabula Rasa looked much different early in it's developement. I can see where the OP is coming from, but at the same time I think it's just a minor coincidence.

Just about every gamer I know has heard of it, and uses it.

The reason people place such a importance on XFire is because it acts like a "Nielsen Rating System".

I've had some dealings with some of the guys from CDP and they are a very professional bunch.

I bet you anything that CDP took a look at the game, the forums, and some of the blogs and decided to tell funcom to get their crap together before they would launch it in Poland.

I've enjoyed several WAR RvR battles early this afternoon that makes that AoC siege look like a couple blue-haired old ladies playing rook.

/Tell (name) Message. It's the standard command in most MMOs.

You can't link items in chat so if you do happen to find something nice, chances are it will not be usable for your class, there's no way to trade or sell it.

I'm assuming there's no auction house or at least I have not been able to find one.

You know what they say about assumptions right? AH is available in the capital city, try a flight master.

Solo quests somehow magically turn in group quests???  You can be working an area and suddenly the monsters turn into completely different level mobs that one shot you?  Meanwhile you can't complete the noob quests because all the monsters in the area are suddenly impossible to kill?  Unexaplained timers showing up on the screen, when you joined nothing???  It's like just being in the area autojoins you to stuff? 

Wtf are you on about? Public Quests have timers .. when you enter the area of a PQ you get a "PUBLIC QUEST BLAH BLAH" on your screen As far as mobs one shotting you, they must be the champions or PQ bosses. Champions occasionally wander around, but they are easily avoidable unless you're asleep at the keyboard or totally unaware of your surroundings (Sounds the case).

Video options?  No gamma control and game is dark as hell.  I've got a headache from hell from squinting all weekend trying to see wtf I'm doing.

How about this ... Try your video settings on your desktop. Do you know how to do that?

Basically the game is about 1/2 complete.  It's a mess.  It's AOC all over again.  Nothing makes sense and with chat so horribly broke you can't even find a guild if you wanted to join one.  I thought AOC was bad, but my God, this POS takes the cake.    

The game is 10 times more complete than AoC is ... i think 90% of your complaints are USER ERROR. As far as guilds go, I see guild recruitment ads all the time (Wasteland) ... In fact the guild I am in recruits actively and We've grown quite a bit.
