OR go read the steam forums and the forums managed by AV and how unhappy people are on no content being added, all the rollbacks/crashes they had, etc.

 

Even Uzik and others have posted AV needs to get content in asap or people will get bored.

well yeah I also wont be resubbing until they fix the endgame content (cost/use of holdings etc.)

but i "content locusted" my first month and still really enjoyed it. I would still recommend people to try the game, just not to buy a year's sub yet.

debating twitch vs strategy on darkfall forums is ironic, since darkfall is one of the extremely few games I've played which you need mix of both. its also partly why the game appeals to a smaller demographic, imo.

people who says "oh its just quake" probably just don't like it because they have no twitch skills, there is definitely strategy in this game in both small scale pvp and server wars. (altho it may lean slightly more on twitch)

I've always been well above average in FPS/twtich games, but was never a great DF1 player because I was not so good at the thinking on the fly and remembering so many bindings/abilities (stratergy).

the new class system means there is less strategy in 1v1 since its somewhat rock/paper/scissors, and alot less abilities to remember/keybinds. but on the flip side the group vs group combat does have more depth and strategy than darkfall 1. And also means less player vs keyboard, ie you don't need macros/naga to be good.

yeah "pvp" in any other mmo just feels like a complete joke after darkfall. theres no adrenaline since your not risking anything, and theres no skill since your simply queing abilities.

hasn't been any great siege videos so far AFAIK, but this one was quite funny, altho 100% melee swinging.

Hahaha, you are quite hilarious. Why do you even try to compare something when you have played only one MMO? What about EVE Online ? Which is in all aspect better than any Dfo. Dfo isn't even a true sandbox.

Eve is more sandbox to darkfall but less to other games like haven. and I would say eve isn't even a real computer game its more like a text based game, and its not exactly hard for it to win biggest world if since its set in mostly empty space.

bindcamping is stupid, but so is getting upset about it. Is it really so hard to just go afk or log out for a 5 min break?

I don't  think its really griefing. but then I really don't care if its against the rules and no one should unless you are a sad excuse of a human being, which unfortunately alot of the posters on darkfall boards are.

edit: this is why they are upset tho, there is a difference between going out of your way to bindcamp someone and simply killing people at a choas stone they refuse to leave.

Actually the land mass isn't that much smaller, most of the map they cut is actually water tiles. I used to have a good overlap image showing this, but all I could find is this http://i.imgur.com/cNElB.jpg. darkfall may still have the biggest seamless non randomly generated world in any game.

And one of the things I hear people constantly complaining about is how they cant go anywhere without being killed. My server at least is very populated during prime, you always bump into people out in the world. it was only like this in darkfall 1 when both US and EU was on the same server.

edit: I would also add even the oceans you cannot go unhindered in. fishing is maybe the best source of gold atm via treasuremaps, I have lost 3 ships today and yesterday to dirty pirates while fishing in the middle of nowhere in the ocean.

I would recomend darkfall to people who like DayZ, dark souls, planetside. darkfall gets hate from all the people who play mmorpg's, they expect/want unoriginality. it shouldn't even have a forum here.

The gathering acheivements require 3,000 each. OK, so let's do some maths...

If 1 node = 40 items and takes 7 minutes...

 

(3,000 / 40) x 7 = 525 minutes = 9 hours.

 

So that's 9 hours of solid grinding to get 1 gathering acheivement !

Such a random reply. gathering is not grinding, its something you do semi afk. bad game design I agree, see my other thread.

you have the option to level up by semi afk gathering, but of course it takes alot longer otherwise it be totally unbalanced, and no one would leave safezone. you are expected to pve if you want to progress quicker, which is kind of grindy yes but this thread was never claiming there was no grind.
