I had the exact same scenario trying to convince a RL friend who used to play wow/aoc to try darkfall with me years ago. you've hit the root of the problem of why mmo genre is such a pile of wank.  99% of the people who play mmo's including pretty much everyone on this site have that same attitude. 

they WANT mmo's to all be like wow, they EXPECT them to be like wow. they don't think an mmo is an mmo unless its the same as wow. they even will refuse to play a game because of the interface graphics, I mean seriously who gives a shit about UI textures it doesn't improve a game. It didn't improve recent versions of windows either.

its really sad. its almost like a girl who knows her boyfriend beats her but would never dump him and thinks thats the best she can do, you know? these people are mentally damaged I swear.

If WoW had sitting this game would have sitting. and that sums up the game.

why no skeletons? isn't one of the "races" in WoW skeletons and they play WoW in china?

I'm shocked they don't even have LoD's in this game. even single player games have lod's.

Been waiting for darkfall 2.0 (aka darkfall 2010, darkfall arena) for years. but now its shaping up to be a game I do not want to play. did you read the lastest blog post about respawning near your tomb? they are going to totally destroy the game... and a great game it was, R.I.P 

While there are other mmo's Im looking forward to; It will probably be 10 years until we see another game like darkfall, thats the despressing thing. What darkfall did in terms of massive competitive twitch combat, in an open world, is still seen as impossible by every other developer.

Don't judge this too quickly, its by the guys behind haven and hearth. if you played that game you know its going to be worth playing irregardless of graphics.

plus its a terraforming sandbox game, are you saying MINECRAFT has better graphics? PUH-LEEZE

was playing h&h again recently. can't wait for salem hope they fix some of the issues in h&h, lag, no claim decay etc.

It doesn't look promising. it sounds promising, there is a distinct difference. there are no screenshots or videos of the game AFAIK, all it is is some some design text and some concept art (which is very bad).

anyone can make a site and say they are making the best game ever with no evidence. However there are other indy games in development which actually have screenshots and videos, only these are actually worth any thought/discussion imo. and even those which evidence of an actual game still can end up being vapourware.

Pretty much 20% pve grinding, 10% pvp, and 70% bank hugging, and If you haven't played darkfall, you probably don't know what this is. But it's basicaly when everyone  sits around a clan bank staring at the vault and/or macroing nearby, waiting for stuff happen.

 I barely even consider this game a "sandbox".  Theres no exploration, trading, merchants, pirates, bandits,crafters, diplomats, ect. Theres just a bunch of mega characters that can do everything and play the game like a fps.

kinda a random rant...but the op's sincerity and/or trolling made me think of it. I hope this game's relaunch actually fixes the game, because the pvp is really fun.

I agree with this post and yet there is still no other MMO nearly as good. what does that say about the market?

I am also a bioware and kotor fan and was super hyped when swtor was announced, joined the forums as soon as they went up etc.

But eventually it became obvious they wanted to copy wow as much as they could and not just visually. I didn't want them to make sw galaxies 2 like others.

but every core mechanic of tor is nothing like kotor and everybit the same as every generic mmo like you say since 2002.

actually your wrong momentum means players cannot sprint zig zag like crazy making them less impossible to predict, more predictable movement = alot easier time aiming with high ping.

at least we assume thats what they meant, will have to wait and see.

I think most people who dont understand full loot are people who play gear games like wow, full loot is only good when gear is relitively easy to re-aquire. obviously in a gear centric game where you raid for weeks to get an item losing it would suck.

Its naive to think it will actually die, but its nice theres less people playing imo because blizzard are douchebags and its such an overated game.

well im in england and i got 20 ping to eu1 at my last house, but I would MUCH prefer just 1 server even if it was in the US. east coast server would be best imo.
