EVE, find a good corp in 0.0 and it helps to have a RL friend to play with because you really need someone you can trust :)

Lets see.

CCP have created their very own, very unique engine for EVE Online, which they named Walking in Station (WIS).

Ok, they will include it in EVE next spring, probably.

They told, they will unveil more info about Dust 514 this November at EVE Fanfest. I am sure, they don't want to tell there, that, all you guys here suck. We create new features, wich you won't be able to play. :D

If I were CCP, I would try to get more money out of my many years of WIS development. That will be Dust 514. If I were CCP I would also include it in EVE Online, to get more subscriptions. Double win scenario. I will increase my EVE scubsrcriber base, and I will open my game for even more subscribers of console players.

If CCP can do this correctly, they will create the ultimate game for PC and console.

If I were Blizzard, I would feel the pain in my *ss.

This is the most ambitious and promising project of the last (say) 10 years of game development.

Nicely put imo

Bartle used to divide the playerbase of an MMO into four types: explorers, socializers, killers, and achievers.  Unfortunately, the way games have developed only cater to one of these four groups.

The first group to go were the explorers.  They left due to all the maps, guides, and tricks available on the internet.  People would uncover all the secrets of an MMO and make them public knowledge faster than the developers could create new ones, so they eventually stopped making complicated mechanics and worlds.  When the games got less complicated, the explorers generally left to go to single player RPGs, which have gotten better.

Then went the socializers.  And the reason they left was a combination of voice chat, developer unwillingness to create new emotes or fluff features, and developer unwillingness to create places where people can socialize (player housing, venues, etc.).  When the games no longer emphasized being a character and interacting with other characters, the socializers generally left to go to Facebook or Second Life.

Then went the PKers.  They left because of the elimination of open-PvP and the restrictions that were placed on PvP in general.  They went back to Counterstrike, or more likely, Team Fortress 2.

So all that's left are the achievers, and that's the only demographic that seems to be important to MMO publishers.  The games today primarily cater to their needs, and only secondarily appeal to the needs of all the others.  So therefore, it isn't any surprise that the games are heavily "elitist," because there's really nothing out there for people who aren't achievers.

Don't cry my friend!  There is hope!  FFXIV will have some sandbox elements, and there is the rumored Elder Scrolls Online being developed.  Then there is World of Darkness, and Mortal Online could come around.  One day... maybe.. there might be hope..

Actually I am very interested to see how World of Darkness pans out with CCP behind the wheel. IMO it will rock :)

In your opinion, what MMORPG has the best PvP?

IRL , that shit is serious business. However it depends what pvp you want, hardcore? DK or War, perhaps you actually have a real life try WoW arenas(NOT raiding and ect).

It's because a lot of us from the introductory days got old.

I was hardcore for years.  Played games >40 hours a week type stuff.  Now I'll be glad to get 2 hours a day.  At this time frame it'd take me forever to achieve the same unlocks I used to.  Three weeks of gear grind to equal one of my olden days.

So what happens?  They nerf the game down to my level so I don't get frustrated and quit.  Can't sit in a raid for 6 hours anymore.  Something called responsibility came along.

This^^^ I remember not even going to sleep... Now I just wanna hop on and stab/shoot a few ppl and go put some burgers on the grill and beat the wife (j/k) but yeah times are changing. Infact, i dont even wanna say it but I am playing WoW again, just for arenas. Just to quench my hardcore bloodlust in a timely casual fashion lol I think once us original "Old School" nerds get damn old we will be hardcore again, after the kids are grown and you have experienced life. 2 Cents u can haz

ROFL! Just hit some friends of mine with it >:)

Please MechWarrior Online!

EDIT: Check out these guys www.mektek.net they are doing a new Battle Tech. Very cool imo

EDIT Deux: Looks like someone already added the mektek infoZ :)

This game is awesome, if I actually had time to play a dedicated MMO this would be it. Although the one down side is the PVP server is dead, had some brilliant times back in the day with VG PVP. /tear So take what I say with a grain of salt, but I do think if anyone is attempting to give this game a shot will not be dissapointed.

Peace

I love EVE, however i dislike the fact of the Tech 2 BPO's. A lisense to print isk :(

He's became a very, VERY sycophantic fankiddie, and an obvious shill. He's claimed to "have the ear of the developers" which, to me, suggests that he's doing nothing more than working the propaganda machine in order to get more subs for the game, and to feed Tasos' hunger for fankiddism.

I mean, if he doesn't get removed, at least give a disclaimer that the information is probably extremely heavily biased TOWARDS Darkfall, because - I don't know about you - but I don't find the fact that new players may be convinced by heavy handed pro-Darkfall crap, just because it seems to be official and on the front page.

TL;DR:
Either remove Paragus1 from "Spotlight Blogs", or change him to something like "Official Darkfall Blog", so that people know to be wary of anything he might say.

I think he does a brilliant job, infact I do not even play DF and I still read them. However if he was to take an Official role I think they would attempt to limit him. just my 2 cents.

So far what i can tell is Warlord > Bloodletter > Shaman  :(

Excellent work! hi5

Good read, I would actually like to see a bit more of a behind the scenes view of MMO's, thanks!
