Just wanted to remind you of the fall of ATLAS, IT and now NC to player alliances and players that is alot fresher.

This due to time and people are not hungry anymore.

That /wear and tear/ closes the gap more than you seem to realise.

To quote something hitting in that youtube video of Vuk Lau, "At least we beat ATLAS record for shortest defence." This from the same coalition that sold the same fate to IT less than 6 months ago.

NC barely put up a fight and the russians rmt and botted their way to all those super caps.  I dont like either side in the fight on this one and watched from the sidelines.

(errh... NC (MM) both sold scaps to PL and let them use NC space to get them.

NC fleets have been lackluster with participants, they stood aside watching R.A.G.E. fall. And uhm people did not bother to log in the supercaps that they had to met up with the PL fleets.

The same thing is said about RMT and NC aswell...)

That is a paranthesis.

The point was, people gets weary of the game and that makes things like this happen. Alliances  leadership been logged for months in some cases. You got alpha fleets with <50 participants, CTA canceled after hours of formup.

This wear already closes the gap more than a possibility to grind SP does.

Yes NC partcipated in RMT as well.  Leadership was more the issue I believe than being space weary but could have been that as well.

Oh, I did not mean to say that one thing was bigger than the other that made NC collapse. I just had this as an example, those three collapses this last year in the life of EVE, one of the reasons being wear and tear and that this (repeating myself I know)  closes the gap aswell.

I voted no.

Not because I care for any kind of veterans, I voted no because I am pretty tired of games that gives 23(24)/7 players advantage level/skillvise.

Sure you will have more options for ships if you make alot of ISK.

With EVE I don't have to compete with players that have nothing else to do besides play a game in the same way as let's say [whatever].

IM sick

the problem with your flawed logic is that if no one ever said bad things about anything, how would anyone get the whole picture?

to put it in another words, if a couple had an argument but you were only allowed to hear 1 persons version of events that caused the argument, you would obviously be biased in favor of the person you heard from. therefore you need both sides of the story to paint the clear picture.

can't believe it had to be spelled out for you but thats why its actually helpful and necessary for people to see those negative postings. sure things get taken a bit to far but the same can be said for the good side of things when its downright fanboyism

If a friend of mine was cpmplaining about her girlfriend nad how unsatisfied he is with her(, perhaps compared to his former wife). I would not need to hear his girlfriend's side of the story. My advice would be to him to think over the relation with the girlfriend... perhaps a few other things aswell.

It does replace socialising, as the server wide chat function is serving the purpose.    If somone requests members (as it is now) and gets no responce, adding a localised dungeon finder isn't going to change that.  All it will do is reduce the number of people asking (i.e. communicating).

I do not consider myself being more social when I order, whatever I buy, through phone as opposed over the internet. I also do not consider myself being social with workmates(friends) when I ask them for help, perhaps when we actually do the specific task.

But each have their own definition of social and communication I guess. (Some would go as far as saying that chatting over MSN is not being social, how about that!)

Tools like this rather makes it easier to be social with others.

I just realised that I didn't see all of Telon.

Wormholes have been in the game for two years now.  The revamped character generator at this point does nothing other than give you a fancier way of making a character portrait.  Planetary Interaction was criticized as being half implemented and thought out whrn it was introduced.  They have been held back by the EVE engine for years.  I'm not saying I don't like CCP or EVE.  Quite the contrary but they really need to quit spending time maiking trailers and quit development of of FPS engine tech (vaporware) and finish the features they have been promising for years.

And do what with them.... Part of why there are a lot of half done features is that they are constantly using old features to support new ones. PI was needed to do the stuff for incarna and dust. Dust is needed to enhance PI. Incarna is being planned to work more closely with Dust and PI.  The thing that makes CCP different from other MMO makers is that they don't just release a system in its own little bubble and leave it there. Sure it means some things start pretty sparse but over the long term it ends up becoming more in depth later on. Just look at the R&D system.

TBH I rather have CCP focus on these things than walk in stations.

I look forward more to the interaction given with DUST, that playerbase and what it brings to the interaction to the current playerbase in EVE. To me it fits in the reasons that makes me play EVE, especially when comparing those reasons to other games.

I have been looking forward to walk in station, but as time passes my interest is fading and I feel more and more sceptical to it. I really do hope they implement it right.

(Yes, I'm a notorious RIFT hater.) But I do want to see something make Blizzard think and if it's this game that forces a company with talent to use that talent. Woot.
  • Their site (riftgame.com), the official forums (@ the same site) still doesn't say anything about 1 million subscribers.
  • Google news for "rift 1 million" and similar things isn't pulling anything up. The IGN thing was released on 4/1. I mean really. I just can't believe they wouldn't make a lot of fanfare if this actually happened. The only downside to such a press release would be admitting that the previous "1 million accounts" release on 2/24 was creative wording (just like someone else still saying "12 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE BEEN METER SPAMMED IN HEROICS" or something like that).

OMG so true!

I just googled "RIFT isn't a giant pink duck with pink stripes and green spots" and go no hits!!! NOT ONE!

Bloody hell, and I thought RIFT was an MMO! Blantantly it's some kind of giant, hideously coloured water fowl!

I'm disgusted MMORPG led us to believe otherwise and even had the cheek to post imaginary screenshots and everything!!!

GODDAMMIT!

I'm calling shenanigans on your post. You Google anything and there's always, always at least one image of a half naked girl. I'm not sure what this says about human culture as a whole...but never the less it's true.

Searching for that tells me RIFT has over one million subdcribers.

no one knows for sure.one chap did some ghetto maths and came out with high = 2k.

Actually he went on a full server and counted the players and came up with the number which was 1900. Obviously not going to get a perfect result that way but 2k seems pretty reasonable.

Ona chap has a well kept secret, why is it only one chap that calculated this?

If I compare Xfira and raptr and use games like SC2 and WoW, I come to the conclusion that Rift have solf 992 457 copies since release/preorder. Of course that includes downloads but not upgrades from standard to CE edition.

Sometimes the problem is on the receiving end aswell.

Some people, not only ingame, can not take what the other one say. Sometimes one just have to take things for what it is.

(I often fall into this myself aswell. )

I can't believe no one has improved combat in these sort of games yet. Conan tried to deviate but the enemy AI is as bad as pacman's ghosts.

I noticed that I just spam 3 - 4 attacks over and over so I put them onto 1 key macro .

Now I have 4 macros for my cleric / shaman

1-  range spell

2- attack

3- heal

4- AoE attack

Most of the time i just keep hammering the 2 button over and over like a mindless goon and sometimes press 3 when my health drops slightly.

The enemy AI is totally boring as there is really only 2 types of attacks  ranged and melee but to kill each you still hammer 2 key but the difference is for ranged mobs you don't use 1 key to pull them close.

4 different macros to do 4 different skills.

Why?

It's not quite free if you have to buy the box, in order to redeme it, now is it?

You still understand the question, don't you?

It's annoying in some way.

But for the moment it feels kind of meh anyway, the day there is only raiding for gear left to do I probably have left the game anyway.

I also missed a bow as a ranger in a group didn't ever bother to ask why someone else needed it. Both had the same fair chance for it, I rolled and I lost.

On the other hand I have played most games by spening my skillpoints in whatever their incarnation is for spending that renamed selfspendable XP.

I do not trust XFire it is way to often that I find games not detected even if they was detected last time I played.

Manual or automatic detection do not matter.

I bet they are controlling the client to manipulate the statistics shown.

Why would they make an effort to manipulate the client that way, and not just rewrite the data on the website (or add a simple additional condition in the database) in any way they like? The usual irrationality of such conspiration theories.

Trion hasn't released sales numbers yet.  So where did that site get it's data?

Here's what the quoted website says:

"Well unfortunately if we were to release detailed information at this stage on exactly where we get our data from then everyone would jump on the bandwagon and competitors would likely get their cheque books out and try to block anyone from providing us with any more data. Suffice to say (and this is where I do have to simply ask people for trust) that we do get data from a number of small retailers."

Damage control it all you wan't. They are always close to official sales numbers.

If frequent inaccurancies of +40% and higher from official sales numbers means "close to official" or "accurate" to you, you have to tell that, because using your own definitions far off  from the general consesus can bring up missunderstandings.

Ok then. Instead of 127k, Trion sold 177800 copies.

Said whom? Reknown innaracurate charts? Or the ignorant hater?

I just added 40%. And dont shoot the messenger. It's not my fault the sales are dissapointing.

Still you chosed to take part and defend it.

That sites lives out of speculations.

Can you please aslo explain the large difference in EU sales vs US sales, when they had to add EU servers and are also running them on high/full population?

rift buy or not?
