Kudos for expressing your (positive) opinion about the game.

Everyone here has played this game, and quitted into their 30 free days. The most annoying part is that the box sales didn't reflect that.
(And uhm I honestly don't believe the coincidence that the most obvious trolls played it rather then googling info. It should be a mere fraction of those that bougth the box that end up posting here. And a fraction of the fraction...)

I cancelled BTW, too many bugs, plus I met a guild of WoW players at a bar near my house, they let me into their guild and are hooking me up with assloads of gold and other goodies...  Not too big of a WoW fan, but getting PL'ed to 70 and having every resource of Azeroth at my disposal makes quitting VG pretty damn easy...  This speaks volumes for the sustainability of VG as I really do not like WoW, and am only playing it to be social and to have fun with some dudes my age...

If 700,000 people preordered it then there would be 700,000 people playing it right now.

But there  is only 200,000 at most playing now.  And that includes the  people who are playing the open beta and didn't preorder

So there is only 150,000 or so preorder people playing.

So either you are lying about the preorder numbers, or 80% of the people who preordered hate the game so much that they don't play anymore.

Not really.

What is the general figure 10-20% of actual subscribers that play at peak times, maybe more when something is hot and fresh?

600k is the number Turbine has been stating. And that was for pre-orders, if I remember. I'd have to check the link on F13.

I'm not surprised the tards found the game, I've just been hearing scuttlebutt that Turbine was gonna crack down on the naming rules pretty hard. All the hardcore lore nuts that speak in dwarven and elvish, memorized Silmarillion, and all tend to freak out when someone poo-poo's in their religion. Just thought it funny was all.

Personally, I don't think they'll be very successful in policing all the numbnuts, especially if the game does in fact pull a WoW-like success.

A Minstrel named Clapton, I can cope with that. Depending on whether he plays old, or new stuff.

When you see a player complain on some forum that there Ipwn756 name has reported and that you actually see lvl 70 character in wow named fgsdfg. It could be disturbing at best, if not a sign of that it is one that you should bother with.
But if ther is a saying over there "empty barrels sounds the most" it could be applicable here.

One notice these name more then other regular and good names, and you also notice those that are rude more then the others.

I think those numbnut tards will come to LOTR sooner or later if they already haven't.

yea who would want to try out a game for free before paying 50 bucks for it? The answer? EVERYONE!

So the population isnt going to increase much at release, if at all

I really dont think that this game will peak at the releaseday/week.

I'v had atleast one friend from other MMO that didn't know that LOTR:O excisted, none zip zero whatsoever knowledge about it. He just doesnt bother to find out what is the next game that one has to buy and play.
Now I told him about it and he kind of not liked the idea to having to download the game etc etc. But shure he did after persuation.

What I am saying is that regardless of beta, internet hype, you have a huge market of players that play the game their friends play and gives a rat ass of what is the most popular game here on MMORP.com or whatever else forum.

So... I am quite confident that LOTR:O will have their fair amount of players and thus it will increase even after the release, for being obviuos.

I would seriously like to know what MMO do people play in which the AI is dynamic, intelligent and leveling paths are boundless, endless and quests randomly generated but logical in nature with an over arching grand story behind them?

Where mobs are as smart if not smarter then you and not just extravagantly scripted scenes.

Please folks tell me, show me the light and lead me to the MMO promise land. A land in which I won't have to grind on mobs to level up ! Where quests are structured like RL adventures or movie/book adventures!!

Where character customization is as varied and unique as the faces seen in real life.

Bring to this MMO promise land !

Am I out on a limb if I'd say youre promoting EVE with that. Otherwise EVE could in some way meet you, although the player quest if I may call them so could turn you out cold. Or if you letyourself be fooled into a big fraud. There actually are some very nice aspects in that game that you may be looking for.

The typical Vanguard experience is a 7 step process:

Step 1: Try to find the game. EBGames, Futureshop, BestBuy don't even carry the game anymore in my area. You can special order it though..

Step 2: After installing the game it's straight to the troubleshooting and support forums to find a .ini file that will allow your rig to play the game half decently (this will involve many trial and error attempts).

Step 3: Create a character, log in, and turn down graphic setting to minimum (welcome to 1999), do a couple of broken quests, wander around aimlesly trying to find another soul in the vast and empty world. Get lagged to death, desktop crashes and log of frustrated.

Step 4: Cancel your account

Step 5: Call your bank and get them to block your credit card because SOE will keep billing you even after you cancelled.

Step 6: Come to these forums and join the "I hate VG bandwagon"

Step 7: Pre-order WAR

That's it in a nutshell

Hmm ye you and this BDM634 guy represents your game just as good. Your friends, posting alts or something?

THIS is VANGAY.  the best, the most beautiful, and the most fun MMORPG ever created in the history of online gaming.  more and more i log in, more and more i get sucked in, it really feels like a long, never-ending dream....

Corrected.

That was cool. Thumbs up. You got some originality there.
Incanse it is not being obviuos I am rude to you, making you out to be silly, pointing fingers. Talking babylanguage to you.

What did you really add to this thread when I think most of the repliers already flamed Hero for being vanboy?

Why should they have metal looking armor, when the player models are made out of plastic?

But enough of this blasphemy, this is VANGUARD, the only triple A title of 2007 with groundbreaking graphics and gameplay! And by groundbreaking they mean angry players will throw all kinds of heavy stuff at their floor, when they realize they were rolled back, lost huge xp or important items.

First what is triple A?

Second, that frustration is what thrives me in games.  And others, my exguildleader in WoW threw his computer down by the stairs after decent amount of whiping (yes noone is letting him forget it). Oh no wait youre talking about bugs I was thinking things working as intended ;)

you keep mentioning the developers.... you know... they have said things... but looking at their posts objectively i think people like you are using those posts and putting words into their mouths... turning them into something like they freely ADMIT game is bad blah blah... they did not admit anything.  please get over it... you people are trying to turn it into something that wasn't.... we had someone... the lead of the company... being flat out honest and actually communicating with the people....

if they don't post, people like u whine because u say they don't communicate.... if they post, u start turning their words into something they haven't actually said by putting words into their mouths.... and whine about something else.... just get over it please.  seriously.

what i want to know is why do you defend this game like its your own.....i think the people who defend the game sound more stupid then the people who bash it...so you like the game, good for you now go back and play it or in your case go back to dreamland.

The only defence I see is Hero defending the truth and his/her opinion of the game. The truth is people are blatently lying to discredit VG on these forums {ref Erinys} and they do twist Brad McQuaids words at every turn.

Im glad Hero is smitten with the game and I have no problem admitting that I am quite smitten with it myself. I doubt it will be a death do us part kind of thing, and as a commitment phobe I can tell you now there is no way I will be having VG babies...all the same I am enjoying our flirtation and expect it to become a full-blown summer romance.

Sweet dreams Hero

I was thinking Hero was the product of posters like "Macquaided" and fellows.

My excuse is that I was not here when things happened. But you have 1000+ posts in these boards.

What's your excuse for that topic 2½ month to late?

Beside from the other things that you said that is a big part of the MMO(RPG) games likes these. I choose to specific to focus on that one sentence.

If you have experienced the lore, the story of the hobbits. Frodos adventure. From either the movies and maybe worse also from the books. What is left to be explored in the game. Is it for sentimental value or are there other aspects that makes one want to play the game.

I'm not referring to that the game has really good graphic, running smooth, the combat is nice etc etc.

What does this game give to those that actually knows the Tolkiens Middle Earth?

After the amount of bad press/flaming this game got I was thinking it was another Vanguard, but from what I hear it might not be. I'll probably try this game out now, thanks :)

Uhm have ther been bad press about LOTR, so you make it to be another Vanguard.

Can you point that bad press/flaming out for me to read?

Why would a company base an MMO off from a movie in the first place? Books always come first, usually not the movie itself. I'm sure they chose the way they did this game for thier own reasons. The game isn't in retail yet.. they are adding news things constantly. A little to early to assume what they are and aren't going to be adding to the game. And besides, that's what expansions are for.

Are they not basing the game on the books, Lord of the rings series and The Hobbit?

Uhmm didn't they start to develop middle earth online before the first movie released?
So maybe Peter Jackson stole the eye from when this game was named MEO.

Unless, of course, there happened to be an Eye of Sauron mentioned in the books.  I suppose PJ stole the idea for Gandalf to have a beard from the game too.

You are being sarcastic right?

If turbine really dont want anything to do with the movies, why is Saurons Eye the one from the movies? I mean they did a Gandalf that doesnt wear grey, a beardless Strider, an Elrond that looks younger than his own sons..... apparently to stay away from what the movie looked like (although stzaying away from a GOOD and accurate depiction of something makes your depiction....less accurate, i.e. less book-like too) but they use the movies Sauron, THE major opposing force and culmination of the dread effects. (For those who dont know, at high dread lvls your minimap goes away and is replaced by a huge eye of sauron in its place, glaring at you) The nazgul look exactly the same too, though i gotta admit that ghostly riders radiating menace and clothed in loose black flowing clothes doesnt leave that much room for interpretation. Angmar's helmet looks a lot like the evil armor in general we saw in the movies (especially Saurons).

That just popped into my mind. I was ok with them staying away and all, but then i realized that in the end they seem to not care at all, and just took what was most convenient to use, as i'm guessing depicting the actual actors wouldve cost them money in some way. I dont think Jackson wouldnt claim intellectual property of his version of the eye either though, so its really rather confusing why they completely ignored the movies for most anything, but were fine with copying the evil side.

But I have pictured me the look of the eye and nazgul before I saw the movies. Dont know if I painted myself a picture from the books, the first (cartoon) LOTR movie or if it was art.

Maybe someone else can point this one out also?
Geez I thougth the other subject from yesterday was more fun. Cant someone repost them instead?

any idea?

Without checking har dfacts.

With /who all count x y on some Servers during this week to see what is low/medium/high. and it is +-100 so 1000 could mean it was 850 peeps.

Low - 1000 (That seems to be in the upper region of low)

Medium - 2000

High - 2500 (Seems to be in lower region of high (I hope))

Vanbois says in OOC: "Denial, denial, denial, more denial, even more denial."

I'm not shure what you mean by that.

But I don't think that anyone disagree with the fact that Vanguard wasn't made to be the top seller MMORPG. Nor do they deny issues.
What people do is giving other sides of the same coin, maybe they show that some things maybe not are the way some random OP says it is.

In my opinion I would not care if it has 50k or 150k subscribers. I just care to see if it will be around for the time period that I think it is fun to play. If that is 1½ month or 1½ year I get back sooner or later. I play on low/medium pop server and finding player scarse is actually one of the things I enjoy with this game. But it have not gone to that extint that grouping has been imossible.

But because I have only seen most of the good thing with this game does not make me in denial. But if you will call me that.

I read into 12 pages...didnt see anyone saying this game will only have 30K.  Matter of fact i gave the same figures in that link as I did here.

2st page 1st post by Jackdog. Though I think he corrects himself to 50k subs later.

Edit: Was only 1st page if youre not logged in.
