The only real problem I see with AoC right now is lack of end game content (which will get fixed in time) and the fact that equipment is all the exact same in graphic and usefullness (as in, all gear is pretty much useless at this point and most people still dont know what the hell the percentages do)

I would wait a few more months and hope a real pvp patch and itemazation patch is released by then.

Dont worry about catching up to friends if they are already playing without you, you can get to level 80 in less than a month (I reached 80 before the free month ended and that was on a bear shaman, probably even easier with prime dps classes).

Well you can always hope that the new  Bioware MMORPG being announced on Oct. 21st doesnt suck!

Bioware is by far my favorite Co. in the video game industry right now, ive never been dissapointed by any game released by them, ever. Hopefully their venture into the dangerous waters of the MMO industry doesnt prove too daunting a task.

For me, real time requires way to much in depth thinking. I play MMO's to chat and occationally light stuff on fire (yes, I usually play caster classes). Also, when it comes to balancing how the melee combat works of real time combat systems with casting combat, it usually ends up badly unbalanced (just look at AoC, well the good parts of AoC (yes there are a few)).

Point and click makes things; Fast, simple, and flow easily. It also can have the same amount of depth as a real time combat system if the user puts their minds to it. Yet is allows those of us with less of an attention span to still compete

Well I didn't see you mention Ryzom, you could try that and I think it is still free.

When I played it I thought it was ok.  The living environments are nice and it isn't your typical fantasy game. If you really like crafting the stats on items and socializing then it might be a good choice.

Aye i tried that the first it was released as well as last year lol

Im serious when I say Ive tried virtually every MMO ever made that is "mainstream." Mainstream meaning I know there are thousands of Korean and Chinese mmos out there I never tried (nor will) but I essentially played em all.

The forum on the left over there?

<---

Played every single one of em.

I have given thought to Aion (but that looks like a Lineage clone to me) and I have my eyes on Huxley, Star Trekonline and Champions but for the most part I think im done with mmos. If the other games I just mention grabs my interest then I will enjoy getting back into the genre.

But so far with the games that have been released in the last 2.5 years, well, I haven't been impressed whatsoever with em. Just my opinion.

i normally kill people who say that :)

but il forgive you haha

only thing its cloned are the asian style graphics.

apart from the its totally different.

maybe you should read up about it :)

Does FFXI still have its unrelentingly unforgiving death penalty?

I played a Samurai up to 75 (O-hat, sunglasses, the works) but after being deleveled back to 74 (multiple times) and spending literally days trying to get the level back, I had enough.

This was uhhhh close to 2, maybe 3 years ago mind you.

Oh but to stay on topic (im bad at this) I believe MMO's are cursed from the beginning by the way marketing systems are based around them.

These days every (smart) CEO wants research, research, research. Gather up that secondary data, forumlate some skewed statistical charts and find out how to SQUEEEEZE the most money out of whatever it is that is planning on being funded. (Noone wants to fund a primary research unless its absolutely necessary, the problem with this is so many of these MMO-development companies use research that was funded by other companies that has way less relevance to what they are trying to accomplish than they realize).

Basically what im saying is that until there is some sort of breakthough marketing scheme that allows MMO's to be developed for cheaper, faster, and with less risk, we are going to keep seeing crappy MMO's till the end of time.

the fact that they may remove R10 RR6 gear from T1 is crazy and not fully thought out imo. It will work out at first but once mains are established and an AH is up and running "twinking" will become an issue. As it stands right now anyone can get the gear from T2 keeps if they are R10 RR6 (really easy) and the cost is inexpensive and easily made doing rvr quests. Once they make the gear inaccessable to T1 players though then items like the following will become invaluable.

the way it worked now is that even if another player was twinked in hard to aquire gear any joesmo could get the T2 stuff and still be a contender. If that goes away then the twink factor will become a huge issue in the long run. GG for those that only see whats in front of them and not bother looking at the whole picture.

You're grand 'ole scheme might work out, and you'd have a reasonable arguement if it werent' for the simple fact that:

"YOU WILL LEVEL OUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO"

you cannot stay twinked...  WAAAAAAGGH!!!

What he said. You get a bitchload of exp every time you win a game. You cant "twink" in WAR because the character will only last for like 5 wins before he out levels the scenario.

The ability to buy RR6 gear and come back to Tier 1 scenarios was a bug? Wow.

LOL...I thought the same thing!  I was SO excited that for a WHOLE LEVEL (at level 12 you get chickenized if you go to a tier 1 scenario...I know this, because I accidentally dinged DURING a scenario....lol)....anyway...for a WHOLE LEVEL I got to be "Uber Shaman on The Battlefield!"  And THAT was a BUG?!    O.o   Well, that's disappointing, because bright wizards are going to roll your arse every scenario if you don't have some nice resistance gear.  I thought my RR 6 gear just made me REASONABLY have the ability to survive if I played intelligently, healing and dpsing from the "way back."

Pffft.  So much for MY dreams of getting my first set of tier gear again at level 11.  :(  Oh...guess I COULD have gotten it at level 10....and that's sad too, because I didn't figure out where to get it until I was 11.

Seriously....I don't see what's wrong with giving people a level or two to be "uber."  On the other hand....they really COULD nerf bright wizards a bit.  Something seems a wee bit WRONG with them being able to demolish an entire field of people with only 2 or 3 spells cast in the right order.  If they're not gonna nerf bright wizards, then they need to make the sorceress at LEAST equal in damage (and it did NOT appear to me, to be so).

/end rant

That all being said....I loved PQs and RvR....was LESS crazy about soloing PvE content.  However, once I'm guilded, I think my very FEW "so-so" feelings will change.  The game, in my opinion, isn't really comparable to WoW (which I've been playing since THEIR beta, and will continue to play).  WAR is an entirely different KIND of game, in my opinion.  I intend to continue playing both and have already purchased WAR (obviously), and have WotLK on pre-order.

I don't see any reason why there can't be TWO monster MMOs.....

Well if you are a Witch Elf Bright Wizards will look like yummy krispy kreme donuts just sitting on the shelf warm and gooey waiting for you to eat them up.  That got out of hand.

Just a little bit but it gets the point across.

I like the way the class counters work in this game, it promotes team play instead of one on one combat. My sorcerer could kill just about every class except Witch Hunters and Swordmasters who pretty much ramrodded me with reckless abandon.

If you looked at all the later core skills and masteries you could get at later levels during the beta you could see how a lot of the tactics are based on team play (example: Sorcerers get a tactic that gives their entire party a buff for 20 seconds that gives +20% to all damage every time they get a critical hit)

The tier 2 gear in tier 1 scenarios was a little absurd though, my sorcerer was doing total damage ranges just short of the entire enemy team! It really was in need of a fix.

Facts are facts. Sorry.

So he made a mistake ? or was it a twisted fact ?

Wow's global cooldown IS 1.5. The Rogue class has a GCD of 1.

OOOooooOOOOoooOOOOO Big fucking deal. He got his facts wrong. Go play WoW.

I'm an Elder. Time for killin.

Gotcha !

Not only the rogues, there are the other classes...

because  with the new spell haste all classes have faster GCD than 1.5 in Wow.

Gonna to continue because I know more...

next ?

The point of GCD is that its a universal number attached to all classes except for certain exceptions (rogue/cat drood). Just because WoW has a stat that modifies GCD doesnt mean the GCD is a different number. Get your facts straight and stop trying to downplay a friendly Dev post.

Anyway, Glad to know that they are working on the pathing bug, it made the game entirely too easy (Diciples of Khaine and sorcerers could solo Hero's in PQ's just by abusing the awful pathing) though those are just the two I tried out, so other classes could probably have done it also.

In response to the 10/RR6 gear, thats a good change, check out this screen shot of my Sorcerer useing Tier 2 gear in Tier 1 Scenarios.

I prefer it the way it is. Runescape is plagued by idiots. Most people see the browser download for dofus and figure its not worth downloading so it keeps a large majority of idiots from playing. So there is much less begging and annoying people then in most flash browser games.
