I understand they released a patch this morning. I can log in but when I get to the start screen and choose "start" I get a connection error message. Sorry to post this here but we have no official forums and the main website says nothing about servers being down!!! |

Is anyone else a bit disappointed by this game?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/25/10 1:06:09 PM
Originally posted by Presbytier The launch wasn't terrible per say, it was actually smooth. It was the overall released product is what people are upset about. It basically started when you created a SE account (which was a chore in iteself) and chose your subscription. Basically put the sub fee is 9.99 + 3.00 for one character. So yeah the 12.99 sub fee isnt bad considering the average mmo is 14.99. If you want more than one character factor in 3.00 each toon for the overall sub fee per month. Getting to the game itself, visually it's stunning. Awesome graphics and it gives you the FF look. The UI is different but definately not user friendly. It has a look of a old old outdated mmo. It's very very clunky and the chat system is meh. If you don't pay attention to the chat screen you can miss tells or requests. The lack of npc voice overs is pretty disappointing. The biggest problem with the game is it you dont know at times if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. I have found myself running around absolutely lost like "what do I do now?" There are just a lot of things in the game that are not explained (like choosing the astral moon/sun at character creation). I had no idea what linkshells or retainers were. It's hard to keep up with chain quests at times. I know FFXIV isn't supposed to be a "average mmo" but if they fixed the UI and made it more user friendly I think it would appeal to a lot of people. So I don't know. I am still in the headstart but I am already questioning if I will sub after my 30 day trial.

Share the love, share your buddy keys.

I thought you needed the discs to install the game with the buddy key? |

Originally posted by Varny It should be in the DVD case with the rest of your codes, but yes you have to register the keys BEFORE you create a character!!! |

Originally posted by loeslein I wasn't a beta tester and the videos floating around on you tube didn't exaclty answer my questions. I did get some answers from fellow mmorpg forum posters. I apologize if it was so painful that you just had to login in and post a response with absolutely no positive contribution. |

1. Ok, I understand this is an "online" game. So I just want to confirm that there will be lots of other players online that you can group with, chat with and interact with?? I want to play a mmo not really a solo rpg. Can anyone shed some light on this? 2. I understand FFxiv will be more of a PvE type game but is there any PvP based activities?? 3. If this is a level based game, how many levels are there and how many characters can you create on one account?? Thanks |

I bought a copy of Fallen Earth. After further review and watching Youtube videos, I don't think its the game for me. Unfortunately I could not get my money back since Best Buy (policy) I was wondering if anyone was interested in trading Keys. I havent used the key. Looking for a EQ2 expansion sentinal's fate key or let me know what you have. I'd figure someone else could use this key before I toss it on the shelf and forget about it. |

So the Fabled 45 day patch is here is it?

Originally posted by ktanner3 I personally played the game to be a federation captain....not really Klingon. So the Klingon stuff didnt matter to me. I know there are those that want to be the Klingons, etc. I think if the Klingon stuff wasnt ready then they should have not included it at the release.....oh wait.....you know what kind of uproar that would have caused. They left the Klingon stuff in and people are still upset over it. The C store stuff was made well known in advance, you do get a free respec then you have to visit the C store after your free one. Cryptic has been posting things in the dev forums as far as what they done, what's ahead, etc. So, as I said....I enjoy the game for what it is. STO is not the golden perfect mmo but then again which one is eh? |

Originally posted by MMO_Doubter There is no denial. Seriously, 99 % of new mmos that come out are all flooded with posts like yours and others that just constantly whine and complain about "oh we weren't given this" or "we weren't given that" etc. Seriously, everybody wants something for nothing it seems. I am just saying I enjoy the game for what it is. You like it, awesome if you don't well like someone said something about capitalism....don't buy it! |

The patch came out and it was HUGE! It contained a lot of things. We all know the negativity that are associated with these net forums...especially the third party ones. Fact is Cryptic has communicated what they have done and are going to due with projective dates. They added new content, and opened up the c store where you can get your extra character slots and extra items. The game itself still has me interested (probably because iam a star trek fan) and as long they continue to add things and work on it, I think it will be all good. Of course if Cryptic didn't do anything then people would be up in arms complaining about that. If Cryptic added new stuff but it wasnt what a thousand different players wanted then people are complaining about that too.......see the trend here? |
