I would much rather craft, explore the world or do any number of things than raid.

Luckily for me, I could care less about having the "best" items...I just want to have fun. But it always confuses me why developers support a small percantage of raiders and pretty much forget about everyone else.

Seriously cut that bullshit out. Raiders are not some insignificantly small minority. Plenty of mmo gamers participate in raiding, I would say at least 50% of any player who has reached "endgame" have raided. Of course they sucked and couldnt make progression and blame it on others (as no one takes responsibility for their lack of skill anymore). Most soloers are bad and solo only to avoid being called on it.

We all know your biased against group play Vendayn, take your propaganda somewhere else. Raiding is not some tiny percentage or else so much time wouldnt be devoted towards it.

All the polling I have ever seen showed only about 10% of those responding indicating they actually enjoyed raiding while the majority, over 50%, vehemently didn't like it, and the rest not having a preference of  gamestyle or caring if raiding was part of the game design.

Non Raiders should never have the ability to get the same rewards as a raider.  A raider puts in the time and effort to earn those rewards, a non raider chooses not to go on raids and by that choice chooses not to earn the same rewards.

Everyone playing any given game should have the same chance at every item in that game, well guess what everyone that plays that game has the chance at every item in that game if they choose to put in the time and effort.

If they choose not to raid because they find it not fun then so be it but why should they have access to the same rewards as the players that choose to put forth the effort and time to gain the raid rewards.

Basicly it comes down to who is willing to work for the rewards.  Raiders are willing to put forth time and effort and in return gain access to the great raid rewards.   A non raider is not willing to put forth the time and effort and there for should not have access to the great raid rewards.

As far as why Developers include raid content in their games, I though that was fairly simple.  The whole point of any MMO is to create a world were players stay and play for extanded periods of time, the longer a player pays to have an account, the longer the company makes money....

Raids are a function to keep players paying for longer periods of time... It is that simple.

From a pure " work for it aspect ", soloers in classic EQ for example had to work a lot harder than raiders or group oriented players to level and kill high level mobs, yet they didn't get nearly as good rewards than many of the slackers who rode the coattails of others in a raid, as part of a large group.

Monotonous, boring, linear raiding with no trade tagged reward items are indeed a function created by stupid developers to force players to play longer. That only works for a certain amount of time though and alienates more players once they reach that raiding progression wall, because the majority don't enjoy raiding.

I second the notion, good riddance. The concept sucked, it wasn't a real MMOG.

If someone would only make a classic MMOG like early EQ again, they would succeed.

Greedy developers willing to sacrifice the quality and essence of a real MMOG, that's how.

Developers make more money on microtransactions via item shops etc. in supposedly free to play games. They are not free to play at all. In fact they will cost you much more than a flat subscription rate in order to compete and play on par with other players.

Ryzom is a good game but without a fresh server launch it's not worth investing time into. I am looking for a game world to invest years in and I don't fancy starting on a 4 year old established world.

Not without voice masking. It ruins immersion and the game to hear a guy's voice from a female character of a squeeky kid as a burly fighter type.

I won't want to invest time in Aion if NCsoft is unwilling to promise never to employ micropayments in Aion with their PlayNC micropayments revenue system they are planning for other games.

It's a reasonable expectation not to be baited and switched after I have chosen to invest time in Aion because it is marketed as a flat subscription based revenue game.

Grind and healthy competition for limited resources is good. Instancing and other anti social tools that help promote endless farming are bad.

I don't like mini games in a MMOG. Basically it tells me the developers have to fill time with stupid mini games because the real game, the MMOG itself, sucks.

I mostly solo but enjoy grouping from time to time on MY terms, so no I would not play a game that forced me to group. Just say no to raiding!

Uber guilds want to zerg to achieve goals. The more participants, the more there are for zerging. They couldn't achieve a goal without employing lame tactics such as zerging if their lives depended on it.

Raiders suck.

You cannot like cash item games and then at the same time pay a monthly fee of $15 for fee base games.  It is hypocrisy.

You either like free games or not.

Another sucker who doesn't understand the devious nature of cash shop revenue games and how they employ game mechanics to coerce spending more than a traditional flat rate subscription.

The marketing ploy of releasing this information late is obvious. The game is still crap and has been dummied down by SOE but 6 days playtime won't be enough time to truly get your feet wet so they are hoping to sucker people for a one month subscription until they realize that the game is still unplayable.

Live Gamer is basically a bunch of goldfarmers just like IGE. They are really trying hard to gain respectability by joining with game companies and hiring so called academic experts.

It's no surprise that sleazy Smedley would be one of the first to hook up with them. What happened to SOE's anti RMT stance when they asked Ebay to remove all Everquest auctions? Suddenly it's no longer bad for the game if they get a slice of the pie. Hypocrites.

You don't beat em by joining em, you fight the good fight like Blizzard does.

EW, I just found out this is a cash shop game too.

most MMORPGs are cash shop numpty its so they can make money without making you pay a monthly fee and you dont even have to buy owt so what you on bout

But I'd rather pay a flat subscription that everyone else is paying and I know I don't have to pay more and more and more in order to compete on par with other players.

Subscription rate all the way baby! It's the only fair way to do it.
