I would suggest you all try it for yourselves when you get the chance. I for one can say that I'm a star trek fan, and I also like to believe I'm a gamer (eventhough it has been on the side of eve online and ArmA). I have a feeling that, based on cryptics earlier games (CoX, CO), they could, present it as flashy as the latest star trek movie. If they do that, they could cater to both sides, although admittedly losing a few inches on the canon side.

It's going to be one big server like that one in eve, but they will be using instancing to some degree to keep things manageable. Unfortuantely they haven't really expanded on that part yet in any interview or anything. Most of the things out now (interview and stuff wise..) cover the same things we know already over and over again.

But you can be sure you don't have to specifically pick the same server to play with your mates.

Regarding getting stuck in wormholes, your last man out should always be your scanner, he is the man that guarantees your survival. Should the wormhole collapse your scanner can always get whoever is still with him to kspace (although it might be on the other side of the galaxy..).

While I was still playing a few of us experimented with setting up a POS in wspace, is this still done? I imagine in lvl 4-6 holes it might be worth your trouble having a good base of operations, we stayed in one wspace system for several days until the hangars of the POS were full.

Played this game for 5 years, stopped a few months ago, and news like this just wants me to come back to it all. But alas, I know it will eat my life alive..

The economy is getting its orca and a reworked alchemy system, due to the fact that the last directly infuences me I dont feel entirely left out. But I feel your pain.
I hope the next releases of this expansion will tweak/revamp more of the industrial side of eve.
