I remember having started gaming a looong time ago, I think my first game was that prince of persia side scroller, and later DOOM 1 and 2 etc... good ol' days

EDIT: Yeah maybe some of you guys' first games were Pac Man and Pong etc, but im still juvenile

A little off topic but actually lots of people first started playing games many years ago and are continuing to  like you (or myself). Consequently that average age of gamers keeps going up.

Exactly, POINTLESS. everybody will just be focused on the pvp content, including the developers. It will just turn into a big all out pvp warzone. no roleplaying, just mindless killing. an ugly version of battlefield 2 (very ugly, I might add)

The pvp is so meaningful it will become pointless. That makes a lot of sense. I think what you should have said was that pvp is so meaningful everything other than it will be pointless.

Pointless? In Darkfall you have to fight to keep or gain control of territory, builds, and items. In addition, since Darkfall uses a skill based system instead of level, you can also skill up during pvp. And from a more role-playing perspective, if some guild is taxing the people in their territory too much you can also fight oppression. Pvp has never been more meaningful. If you think all pvp is pointless you've been playing WoW too long.

When recruiting for a guild I've found that it's best to only go after casual or hardcore, but not both. If you try to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one. And if a member's gaming style changes, politely give them a swift kick out of the guild. This might be hard if they're a close friend, but it's likely that it will save you from even more problems in the long run.

Games should really add racial/factional chat filters.

I take it from these screenshots that the first-person only idea is out?

Melee and mounts (which is all that is shown in those shots) are 3rd person. Spell casting for sure and maybe ranged is still in 1st person.

Overall I agree with semajin. He's correct on most points.

But I'd rate AA as more of a mediocre game than a bad one. I have two reasons for this. One, it's still in beta and not a release version. And two, I didn't get to try out the end game or pvp content.

The main reason for the lag/bad frame rate is most likely because it's still in beta. The devs have even stated that they know you need a super high end computer to play it currently and are working on fixing it. Now, I'm not saying that between now and when it's released that all the fps problems will go away. I'm just saying that it should get better. Also I heard people in-game complaining about some quest bugs and hopefully those will also get fixed.

As I said I personally didn't get to try the end game or pvp content, so I can't comment on it. If both those areas are done well, this might (repeat might) just end up being a good game; if not, it could break the game as a whole. I'm actually a little hopeful about the end game. As semajin said the skills and items are kind of lacking, but that's when you're level <10. I think the skill and item systems could be far more diverse and satisfying at level 80 (the cap at release). But as I just said "could be", meaning of course that I can't know for certain at this time. And if the skill and item systems do get better with age, that might make pvp interesting and fun.

All of that is just speculative. If I had to rate it right now, just based on what I've already seen/done and not taking the future into account; I would have to rate it as a poor game.

Of course that's why a lot of people are going alfar already (including me and my guild) and you still can't kill other alfar without a faction hit (other than the first few). Well no game can be prefect, but this one's close enough for me; after it finally comes out that is...

Someone posted those pics on my guild forum as well, only they had some more info to go with them.

NOTE: I heard this from a guy in my guild who heard it from who knows where so I wouldn't exactly call it reliable info. Just posting it because you never; it could be right.

Expansion Pack.... writeup of it in an italian gaming mag.. Blizzard went ballistic and made heaps of websites take down the info...

but anyway... who knows... but atlot of this seems feasible.. well alot better than the last lot of rumers hehe enjoy..

Now that they changed the tradeskill system to professions, what professions are you going to do? Remember, anyone can get cooking, fishing and first aid in addition to 2 others. Survival has been combined with cooking.
