I've read that at the very highest ranks, and especially the legend rank, the decks show utter contempt for rush aggro decks.

I disagree with you completely because:

 

1) Both Elite: Dangerous and Eve Online require fast twitch abilities in combat.

2) You could use age as an excuse to stop doing everything - everything declines with age as we die - right at the very end! And until then, if you don't use it, you lose it!

 

I think you are one of those people who like to dwell on negativity. I don't think this is a healthy state of mind for anyone, regardless of their age. For example, it's a frame of mind well known to Bob Geldof's close relations - and we know what sort of things happen then.

I've lots of experience from Magic the Gathering and there it's considered polite to do concede to speed up the match if you're losing anyway.

The gaining of exp might not be a good thing!

The way i am looking at this is it is new content "good thing" and new cards "good thing" and the game is slowly improving and will continue to improve.

It is never going to over throw LOL or DOTA but imo is a much better game,i can't handle all the twitching around targeting several different creatures and having a camera view that is severely limiting.

 

I think your last two sentences are the most interesting. 

 

I think it's possible that Hearthstone might end up being more profitable than LOL or DOTA. This is because I can imagine Hearthstone enthusiasts paying hundreds of Pounds, Dollars, or Euros to get their favorite cards. This is partly because Hearthstone is more likely to appeal to an older, more affluent customer base. I know this should happen because of the past history of MTGO.

 

I can't imagine too many people spending hundreds on LOL or DOTA.

You waste a turn unless you have summoning portal on the field and your hero has 15 health not 30. If you were losing prior to that it will only make you last a little longer.

A 9 cost legendary not common mind you is late game and you will have or should have creatures on the board with decent to high attacking power.

The class legendary are grommash from warrior which is a beast, the paladin legendary is a great taunt with divine shield and if it dies you get a weapon, the priest legendary is insane and you shouldn't let it live more than one turn ,the rouge legendary is a beast if you can combo a lot of cards, shaman legendary is soso, warlock legendary very situational, mage if you let their legendary stay on the field you are dead (Most stupid ability ever), hunter legendary is one of the worse and druid legendary is great too.

Best legendaries are neutral.

 

I agree with you that the neutral legendaries are the best. I like them because you can do your dailies with them and you are not restricted by class.

However if you just want to win and or are getting frustrated just make a Warlock Murloc deck.Reason is simple with Warlock you can get more card drawing power to keep that steady flow of Murlocs coming.After that you would simply learn when to start the onslaught by seeing the cards in your hand and what your opponent has on the board or what he might play.

Simple examples is you don't want a 1/1 murloc if your opponent has a Enrage or Northshire cleric or Acolyte of Pain,you will give them an easy target to buff or draw cards.However if you can somehow get out 3 dmg you can one shot those annoying cards.Also remember about AOE damage that can wipe your entire entourage like Druid Swipe "4 cost" Mage blizzard at 6 or Flamestrike at 7 or Rogue Blade Furry at 2 ,Shaman Forked lightning 1 cost or lightning storm 3 cost Warrior Whirlwind 1 cost.

Once you understand what can wipe you it allows you to play better but even still a Murloc deck is designed to just go all out non stop and overwhelm your opponent.I only mentioned those AOE scenarios if you seem to have an unlucky time of it with draws and cards in hand.

I used to find hunter the easiest but now everyone and their gold fish know how to slow down a Hunter deck by simply not playing too many creatures.I personally hate playing against Murloc decks because they are so fast,cheap cost and take so little time there is little you can do aside from a well timed AOE hit or have tons of taunts.Murloc decks basically put your opponent on the defensive all game never allowing him board control.

 

I've only played Hearthstone for a few days. I agree that Warlock murloc decks are fantastic to start with - I rose from level 22 to level 16 using one in a short space of time, and without needing a legendary card. However, I think that the old chestnuts (Warlock murloc, zoo Warlock, and Huntard) are too well known - a lot of people have good responses to them now.

 

I play on the EU server, by the way, so the US server might be different.

I totally agree with you. In fact, going on their past form it could take years. What is more, you might end up with less content because they removed loads of stuff from the original game. Believe it or not, the original Darkfall game was better because it catered for more play styles in all sorts of ways.

CCP started to lose their way back in 2008 when they announced DUST 514 and WoD. The problems are continuing with Valkyrie, in my opinion.

 

CCP should have stuck with Eve Online and transformed this game into a complete sci-fi universe - including Walking in Stations and much much more.

 

I have cancelled both my Eve Online subscriptions - I'll be transferring to Elite: Dangerous who are continuing with the original vision.

This won't bring me back because I feel that the problem with DFUW is that it specializes too heavily in team PvP.

 

For example, the option to be a solo adventurer living on the peripheral islands was removed when they removed all of the islands (about 50 or more of them).

 

Even if you enjoy team PvP you may tire of DFUW because the game offers no other 'career path' (this is why some people say that DFUW isn't a true sandbox). Sure, there are different things you can do, but it all boils down to team PvP in the end.

 

This also means that to rise up in power you have to spend a considerable amount of time networking and improving your in-game skills. Therefore, everyone who plays this game for the long-term really needs to have a lot of spare time on their hands.

 

It's the combination of needing to love team PvP and needing to have a lot of spare time that make this game a super-niche MMORPG with a very small customer base.

What pisses me off to no end are players who...take...all...of...the...aloted...time...during the first 1-3 crystals. I mean c'mon! Yes, I know what you mean. The first play in Hearthstone is like the first few moves in most chess games - they are automatic openers and can usually be done in seconds.

 

I can only presume that people who delay at this stage are either beginners or having a conversation with somebody etc.

How many is "tons" of legendaries?  Five?  Seven?  Ten?  Sure.  But not anywhere near 37, which is how many legendaries there are in the game.

Card set A:  everything available but the legendaries

Card set B:  everything available, including legendaries

Card set C:  all common cards available, both free and expert, but nothing higher than common

Card set C is going to be at a huge disadvantage to A or B.  A is going to be at a disadvantage to B, but not anywhere near as crippling as C is when facing A.

People are focusing far too much on legendary cards.  Rares and epics make a huge difference, too, and are a lot easier to come by.  And even a good player with card set B is going to have quite a few commons in his deck alongside the rarer cards.  Indeed, if I had everything available, I'd probably still sometimes run decks with more common cards than legendary.

 

This is an interesting subject.

 

My current tactic is to use any class. First I drop 'distractors', such as the ghoul or poisonous snake cards - players seem to have a visceral fear of cards such as this and it's not uncommon for players to use 2 cards to eliminate 1.

 

This plays for time and depletes their card options until I start dropping a crap load of legendaries, starting at gem stone 6.

 

This is a 'pay-to-win' tactic. However, I have a lot of respect for players who can use lesser cards in combination to take me down before I start dropping the big guns at gem stone 8.

We'll see if it's a one time payment not a payment everytime you want to do a run it may be reasonable, else it would suck major ass.

Ps. So far I only have 1 legendary, Deathwing, which I use in my warrior deck. On another account I had black knight which is also nice but I prefer the deathwing.

 

My favourite legendary is Ragnaros because the 8 damage at the end of its first turn can't be countered. 

 

A 'Charge' of 8 damage is pretty awesome.

I think it's better that Hearthstone is not a trading card game. If it was, like MTGO, cards such as the Black Lotus would cost thousands of dollars! 

 

As it is, the most expensive Hearthstone cards would set you back 20 dollars for the crafting materials. It would be far cheaper still (cost nothing?)  to destroy the cards you will obviously never use and craft the exact legendary you want.

This is coming from someone who has played MtG, Netrunner, Mechwarrior, LotFR, Warlord, V:TES and dozens of other card games over the past twenty years.  P2W is just part and parcel of the CCG industry and honestly, I'm shocked and astounded that it took the big gaming companies this long to come up with a digital CCG, MTG Online not withstanding.

The real shame in Hearthstone is that it's one of the most shallow and thoughtless card games I've ever played.  It has all the mental depth of a petri dish and yet was created by a company that has earnings in the billions every year.  Either they believe their customer base is made primarily of window licking ear biters that can't comprehend complexity, or they just didn't try very hard to come up with good game mechanics.

I mean for heavens sake, with their earnings they could have hired the master Richard Garfield himself to help design the game.  Instead I feel like any kindergarten class could have come up with the game mechanics in a day.

 

I disagree with you that Hearthstone is less complex than MTGO (which must surely be the gold standard).

 

Hearthstone might appear to be less complex simply because there are not as many cards yet. That is bound to change.

 

If you really think that Hearthstone does not have the potential to be equally as complex as MTGO, I would genuinely love to know why.

It's already annoying having to farm the 150 gold for arena (Imo the only thing that I find fun in this game) I don't see myself farming 500 gold aka 5 packs or 3 arena runs for a single wave.

 

I am a hardcore player who has all the cards I need to reach the top rank. From my perspective, this expansion plan works well, and I'll explain why...

 

From watching the video, the first wave/wing is free. I get the impression that you unlock each of the successive 3 waves / wings with gold (or real money). Therefore, each month you have to obtain 500 gold? (or £5 or $3.5?)

 

If one gets about 50 gold per day, that's easily 500 gold per month.

 

As a hardcore player, this is a good incentive to keep me playing because using gold to buy further packs has now reached the point of diminishing returns (I am only now lacking a few legendary cards, and I might never need them).

 

I imagine that you will obtain the cards in much the same way as the tutorial - so you will get them - it's not like playing arena, which is a real gamble.

 

However, if you are not a hardcore player and you would prefer to spend that 500 gold per month on standard expert cards (or arena if you are really good), rather than expansions, I imagine that would really suck. The incentive to pay real money would be increased. I imagine that that is Blizzards plan!   :ol

In other CCGs like MTGO they are some cards as well that are definately better than others. But there you can trade for them. You can't do that in Hearthstone. There you buy boosters. You are assuming that each Hearthstone card has equal value. Some cards can be destroyed to make other cards without thought - it's a no-brainer. For example, all gold cards can be destroyed and even some useless legendaries.

 

Hearthstone is pay-to-win, up to a point (if you want to rank up to get Legendary status), but you still might not because you need to have experience / skill as well.

 

I've bought enough cards that will allow me to reach the Legendary rank, but the maximum rank I make is 16 because I don't have the experience.  :ol

If you are losing it is because you spend your gold poorly, you should be buying the arenas which is a draft which anyone with 150 gold can win at if you dont suck at the game which gets you tons of cards, gold, and dust. 

Save up your dust if you want legendary cards.

You can get gold easily by playing the computer or randoms and completing quests. Make sure you unlocked all your free cards for each class.

All you have to do is play a ton and you can get all the cards you want for free. Just depends on how much time you put in it. If you dont want to put time into the game you have two options

Buy cards to relieve the time you would spend earning gold on your own

Or 

Quit. Because you just want all the cards handed to you and dont want to put any effort into the game.

 

The problem with arena is that you must win at least 4-6 matches for it to be worthwhile in terms of rewards. Most beginners will be lucky if they win 1 match, and very lucky if they win 3 matches - even though they have 3 lives!

 

You need a lot of experience before even considering playing arena.
