I rather liked the movie and thought that the jokes were pretty funny, some were a bit flat and predictable, but for the most part they got me to laugh.
I was pleased with how they handled the sheer volume of characters, by keeping them together and not having all of these diverging plot lines they were able to effectively convey a lot more in terms of story and team progression...Joss Whedon was a very strong choice for this movie. |

I can't believe how bad it is
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/08/12 6:03:46 PM
Sure are a lot of people badmouthing the game who never played it:
The game is phenominal until the level cap...if you only got to level 30 and lost interest, you either have ADD or you weren't paying any attention to your class story.
Yeah, the end game is lacking, and it's not as complete as WoW, but it's as complete and even better than just about every other MMO out there in terms of end-game content, ESPECIALLY considering how recent the launch was. Realistically, the game has about double the content that WoW did at launch, it's just that the MMO playing community has become completely spoiled.
SWTOR is a massive game with a lot to offer...the problem with it is that it's based very heavily on an element that only lasts up until the level cap, that being the story. It was a predicatble problem that I had hoped that it would overcome more adequately...sadly it has not and I will be canceling until I can play more of my class storyline, or until I get some motivation to play another class.
It's not a bad game...the end game is just not very compelling. |

If they've already offerred you the job, just go and talk to them and tell them what happened, it shouldn't be a big deal. You have very ltitle to be concerned over unless your new employer are a bunch of legalistic jerks. |

I hope the Giants win, I hate Tom Brady and the whole patriots organization...bunch of arrogant ass holes. I also think that Brady is the most overrated player in the history of professional sports. Every championship that he has ever won has been on the back of a top 5 defense, the only time he has lost a Super Bowl is when they had a good offense and not so good defense. Additionally, the only years that he has been able to perform at a truly top tier level has been when he has had at least two pro bowl caliber players to throw to - case in point - his record setting year with Randy Moss. The fact that Matt Cassel was able to duplicate Brady esque numbers in his first year as a back up, and then go to Kansas City and be a miserable failure, demonstrates to me that Brady is nothing more than a product of the system.
That people would even dare to compare him to the likes of Peyton Manning is insulting. One guy takes a season off and his team goes 10-6 regardless, the other guy takes a season off and his team goes 2-14. You tell me which guy is a one man army. The comparison between the two is laughable, yet people are willing to call Brady better because he has three rings. Big friggen deal, Super Bowl rings are not won by individuals, MVP awards ARE. If Super Bowl wins were an accurate measure of a quarterback's ability, then Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson are both Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers' equals.
Then you have Bellichek, the most unscrupulous, non classy individual in the NFL coaching arena today (barring maybe Rex Ryan for different reasons)...I don't even have to start on why old Billy Boy is a piece of human waste.
ESPN licks the collective gooch of the Patriots because they are headquartered in connecticut, which neighbors what? Oh yeah...Massachusetts, where the Patriots are THE team. It's fanboy bias on a televised format.
That all said. I like the Giants to win this one. They've been here before with the Patriots and know how to beat them. So many teams focus on stopping the receivers, when Brady has consistently shown that he folds like a coward when you pressure him. Look for Umenyora, Tuck, and Pierre-Paul to put a hurting on Brady throughout the game and disrupt his rhythm.

Im gonna go ahead and call bullshit on the game running poorly...at least as a general rule it's bullshit. I own a 3 year old computer that I made myself, the graphics card is old (nvidea 9800 gt) and I have 4 gigs of ddr2 and a 2.7 4core processor...the game runs perfectly smooth on high settings. I think you are just one of those people who was going to be disappointed in the game if it wasn't your perfect combination of swg and kotor. Instead you got kotor online and you're pissed...ill therefore write you off as yet another angry swg fanboy or "vet"(I hate that you cann yourselves that, I played the game as well and would never call myself a veteran, you act like soe pyt you throug something...you were free to quit at any time.
Anyway...my point is this:the game runs fine on my system and everyone's system that I've talked to...this is the first complaint I've heard and youre ready to write bioware off as a failure? That's stupid.
I just don't understand why guildwars. Fanboys hate swtor so specifically and vehemently...don't you guys have better stuff to do?

The most disengenuous reason I've heard from a mac fan about it? That Dennis Richie may not have wanted a lot of fanfare tied to his death. Can we get an intellectually honest argument from one of these Jobs worshippers about this please? How is it, that a man who was a brilliant inventor, who is responsible for all of Jobs' success, is hardly looked at upon his death, while Jobs is hailed as some sort of hero? It really only speaks to this asinine mentality of Apple fans that their products somehow put them on a higher plane than others...it makes me sick.

I don't harbor any real hate for Jobs...but damn it these people who are posting facebook statuses about him being some kind of fucking hero and changing their profile pictures and posting videos...those people are ridiculous to me.
It really just exemplifies that Apple is less about a product and more about a social/pop culture movement...one based on overpriced products designed for people who can't operate simple machinery. That is, objectively, what Apple is. For someone like me that works in a tech related field and has been the tech guy for his friends for years...Apple is just a freaking obnoxious company...and their consumers make thigns much much worse.

Warhammer 40K: Dark Millennium Online: Top Five Wishes for Warhammer 40K
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/20/11 10:15:23 AM
I think that in order to keep the balance proper, they'll need to implement classes like fire warriors and imperial guard as being extreme versions of pet classes...because one imperial guardsman should absolutely not be able to stand up to a space marine, just like one fire warrior or one Ork Boy should be able to...now that said, it would be easy to manage this by having all space marines start as scouts, who, while still superior to an individual guardsman or ork, are certainly a huge step below the fully fledged space marine in power armor. A Nob is a match for a space marine, so perhaps having players choose at a certain point how they want to advance their character (a flash git, a nob, a vindicare temple assassin, etc) so that they CAN stand up to a space marine, who would be advanceing from scout, to tactical marine, then specializing in any number of paths. I feel that this is essential to reamain true to the lore. I NEVER want to see a space marine get killed by one guardsman, not ever.
regarding building your own vehicles. No. That is the job of the adeptus mechanicus and should be left to them. Techmarine classes should be able to repair vehicles in the field and create little battlefield gizmos...but the construction of a vehicle in 40k takes a forge world or otherwise a large manufactorum, and it should have to be done there. Another alternative is to allow guilds to purchase vehicles (dreadnaughts, rhinos, landspeeders, etc) at a cost of renown points that the team earns similar to City of Heroes and Planetside. Battlefield heroics, point captures, etc, would all aid in the cost. The ultimate purchase being something lke a Titan (Imperium), a Deff Dread(Ork), or the conjuring of a Avatar of Khaine(Eldar). The issue with this becomes what to give the Imperium and what to give the space marines...the land raider is about the biggest vehicle that the Adeptus Astartes really uses, but doesn't feel suitably epic...so perhaps give the Imperium baneblades and the space marines Titans? I know that Titans ARE usable by the Space Marines in the Armageddon Codex.
Anyway, I'm glad that people are still keeping track of this game. I really hope that it comes out and that it's great. But the lack of information lately has been very discouraging. |

Need help: Finishing touches on first custom built computer
Hardware « General Discussion 9/02/11 12:22:24 AM
Just from looking at your parts...your skimping out on exactly the things that you don't want to skimp out on...Hard drive and power supply are two really common things to die, and you're going as cheap as you can...650 watts is nothing bro, and you picked a piece of doodoo at that, go bigger. Your harddrive - if you need a SSD then cool, but that seagate has got to go...
Also - just make sure your processor and motherboard are compatible and within your price range...I currently run with a 2.9 ghz AMD quad core and it works fine, I'd like it to be a bit faster but I can still run anything that I want to run.
Seriously though bro, go bigger on your power supply and don't go with seagate, their shit is cheap. |

It's militant GW2 fanboys who downhype everything with a 1 and then hype their precious game with a 10...i've not seen such rabid prerelease fanboyism for a game since Darkfall
I made the mistake of saying in my hype that the game didn't interest me in the slightest and I got some ANGRY messages from GW2 fans tellign me that I'm a huge faggot and don't know what i'm talking about...it was great. |

If this game fails, so does the MMORPG Genre. This is our last hope.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 8/14/11 2:02:28 AM
WoW is bleeding subscriptions like a siv right now...something like 300k between May and late July? I'm not sure of the exact figure but it's obvious that Blizzard is trying to counter the loss of subscribers by tapping into the asian market (recently purchased the rights to a web domain having to do with the Panderan, a race heavily inspired by Eastern traditions)....what this will do is alienate the western audience further and create an even better atmosphere for SWTOR's launch...paving a way for, at least an initial success. Having played the game extensively for months, I do believe that this initial success will last for some time.
That all being said..I don't really know if this game is going to be the cause of failure for the MMO genre as a whole if it doesn't live up to expectations (it can't possibly do that anyway) but I do know that it will, if successful, be a genre defining game on a level that other companies will henceforth strive to obtain.
Take all that for what it's worth...I want this game to do well, I love Star Wars, games, and Bioware. |

EA "relaxed" that so many pre-ordered there game...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 8/01/11 12:05:45 AM
Since this thread is full of Guild Wars 2 fanboys, sandbox lovers, and EA haters...I'll just add this one last thing:
I've played SWTOR for months now and on the first day that preorders were offered I purchased the collector's edition.
It's the only collector's edition I've ever purchased.
This game isn't going to fail, and you hoping that it does and coming up with asenine reasons that it will, isn't going to change that fact. Guild Wars 2 will do fine, the sandbox games will continue to be released, but the vast majority of players will still be in games like swtor and WoW...and honestly, if you hate that kind of game so much, why would you want to be surrounded by people who enjoy it? You play your games and know that the population is going to be smaller by virtue of the gameplay...and we'll play ours.

You will always have your sandbox games, and people who enjoy sandbox games will always flock to them before going to games like SWTOR that have story and content that doesn't need to be made up by the players...What WoW has taught us is that the vast majority of players DON'T want a sandbox...if Eve were as popular as WoW then we'd be seeing the opposite...so basically what you're getting at is that you want everyone to create games that cater to the minority, rather than the majority...and I know what you're thinking, "well if they just played a good sandbox they'd see that it's superior!" WRONG!! How many people have played Eve and found it overly complex and intimidating? How many people quit SWG because there was just nothing to do?
note: for the record, I enjoy both equally as well. I played Eve for quite awhile as well as SWG...but I also played WoW and numerous others.
People like you are what's wrong with this genre because you think that the rise of one will mean the inherent fall of the other...and you have no regard for the supply and demand model of business. Don't you think that these companies would make sandbox games if there was better profit in it? Fact is, Eve is the WoW of sandbox games and I don't really see a sandbox game getting any more popular than Eve is already. You point to Planetside but that game's not really a sandbox, I don't know if you ever played the original but there was nothing in it except fighting...I'd hardly call a game where 100% of the content is killing each other in pvp to be sandbox.
You need to wake up and realize that, had Bioware made a sandbox like you and your ilk wanted, the game wouldn't have been as successful as the game that they made instead. SWG demonstrates this, Eve demonstrates this, Darkfall demonstrates this. And don't tell me "OH BUT SWG ONLY FAILED CAUSE SOE" NO...SWG failed because there was a lack of directed content from launch and SOE never truly did anything about it (an error that Eve has corrected, directed content eases players into the sandbox mentality). People can live with bugs, they CAN'T live with there benig nothing to do.
SWTOR will be a huge success so long as Bioware can deliver end game content and continue to deliver steady updates. If not, it'll be another Warhammer online, or DCU Online. I hope it doesn't turn out that way because I've played the game extensively and see a ton of potential...but hey, I'm a realist. |

You won't be complaining about this feature when you see how useful they are...Also, the game is completely doable without the companions. You don't NEED them in order to complete content, but they're there if you want them. Will you be at a disadvantage? Well yes, yes you will...but you'd also be at a disadvantage if you didn't choose to group...are we then going to say that you shouldn't be at a disadvantage no matter what you choose to do with your character? That's preposterous.
Play the game, enjoy the game, play it the way you want to play it, but don't cry when the way you want to play it isn't as competetive as a common sense solution. Star Wars is rarely about solo affairs, and likewise SWTOR has a few solo affairs that don't involve your companion...so...what's the problem again? |

You realize that 90% of Star Wars lore is EU and therefore is someone other than Lucas making stuff up right? Why doesn't Bioware get to do that in their game? Revan and Malak weren't a part of Star Wars lore before Bioware made them up, but i doubt that you complained about them. |
