General: LEGO To Design MMO With NetDevil
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/05/07 9:07:20 PM
This is one of the more original ideas I've seen crop up in the MMORPG genre recently. It's amazing how LEGOs is marketing itself but it is one of those toys that really gets kids imaginations going. It will be interesting to see where this game goes! |

But probably not, they just would have cut it out if they thought that. If that's the case then the long version would be interesting in a techincal kind of way. |

Cool table OP! Originally posted by killerwig The education will never be enough. It will be explained that Warhammer came before Warcraft a million times before the release of WAR, and it will be repeated a millions times after the release. And there will STILL be an endless stream of WoWtards who make the same ignorant assumption about the game It's like Chaos corruption really, there's no stopping it. But that doesn't mean we stop fighting it! |

One of the first things to really grab my attention about WAR was when I heard that they would not have any stealth classes. It's really obvious why they did if if you think about game design. Apart from making PvP balance a nightmare, stealth characters make PvE grouping BORING as heck for everyone else. 'Where's the rogue?' 'Oh he snuck on ahead and is checking out all the cool stuff before everyone else while we get to sit around on our rears. If we're really lucky he may kill some of the mobs before we even get a chance to see them! Let me know when he comes back, I'm going AFK.' I hated grouping with stealth characters in City of Heroes/Villains, I hated it in WoW. The lack of stealth means that WAR's PvE grouping will take place as a *group* rather than waiting around while someone gets to play their own game of Metal Gear Solid on your time. And I also agree that real men don't need stealth in PvP :) |

It will be one of the elven classes I bet. It's always the freaking elves. Fortunately WAR has elves on BOTH sides, so there won't be much problems of balance as long as there is an equivalent classes for High and Dark Elves to satisfy player's love of pointy ears :) |

General: SOE Boosts Station Pass To $29.99/Month

"You don't have to do a thing; you will automatically be migrated to the new monthly subscription rate under your existing subscription plan when your current subscription plan comes up for renewal on or after April 2, 2007. We appreciate your support and continued participation in our community." I always love it when a company raises fees and then claims that automatically raising them is the same as being 'convenient' to their customers. Everyone knows this is just a tactic that takes advantage of people who might not notice the sudden increase in fees and not cancel until a couple of months later. If they were really interested in their customers they would tell people to re-subscribe at the new rate or else their subscriptions will be cancelled. Of course they won't get that income from those people who take longer to notice the hike and quit. |

People keep calling this a MMORPG but they seem to be careful about differentiating between MMORPGs and MMOGs in the article. It could be that this will be an MMOFPS or a MMO strategy game, which would make a great deal of sense given THQ's history of strategy-based games.
Whatever the game ends up being, we can be sure that Games Workshop will cancel the game if it looks like it isn't developing well :) |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: WAR ComicCon Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/01/07 9:15:48 PM
I'm paying less attention to how the RvR videos *look* than the reactions of people while they're playing them. Check out the Video of the Month at the Mythic site where a bunch of press people were playing an RvR scenario. www.warhammeronline.com/english/home/index.php Sounds to me like they were having fun. And that's the important thing to me. There have been a lot comments throughout the forums out there accusing EA Mythic of stealing ideas from World of Warcraft. I can tell you from personal experience that the Greenskins have been around since well before the original Warcraft was even on the scene. This has been said tens of thousands of times in forums, magazines and articles. It will be said a million times before the game is released and a million more times afterward. And there will STILL be those who haven't gotten the clue and make blind assumptions without known the facts. So I'm afraid it will always have to be said in every single preview, every single review and every single article of the game because unfortunately there's no limit to human ignorance. We'll just have to get used to it :) Oh yeah - WAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! |
