I wish we had a legit Pirate MMO doh :(

Huh?  Try

You can pirate all you like, game has been around for 5 years.

Thought this was a sub game, pvp and f2p do not work together.  If they even have a f2p option this game will die on the vine.

Some will do well, most will fold or just hang on with small populations.  I think Crowfall and Camelot Unchained have a good chance, the rest of the lot seem to have no clue how to design a pvp based game.  It is like a comedy of errors for most of these indie games.  I feel sorry for the naive people who invested money in many of them.

PVP is not new in MMO's, UO the first major one was designed around it, but I think we have renewed interest because there has not been a very successful one in a long time.  I think DAoC and EVE were the last really popular ones.  A good pvp game is hard to design because you are always walking a fine line between the hardcore and the rest of the players.  You must make it fun for all or the game will self destruct.

It is Brad we are talking about.  Can't believe there are so many naive people who think this game will be great.

Oh and for the uneducated, it is not "hating", that is being rational and being a critic.

Winter's over people are getting out and doing things besides playing video games.   Subs always dip this time of year.

When you start charging for the game it is RELEASED.  Beta is testing prior to release so you have not been in beta for quite some time.

Kind of irked at MMORPG not calling developers on this since it is obvious to anyone.

Why all the negatives with DAoC comparison?  DAoC was one of the best pvp experiences in the genre until it they mucked it up with overpowered  skills.  With the team they have in place, there will be many similarities.

Just have to wait and see what they eventually produce, I have great hopes for this game.

It is a card game, there is NOTHING rpg like in it.  It is a one of the better ones out there, but let's not misrepresent  what it is.

The problem with these card games, you either have to devote a lot of time to playing the game to get access to the various cards, or spend a lot of money on them.  There is really nothing casual about them.

Personally I would much rather play a card game like Bridge where everyone has the same deck, a far more challenging game..

This game is on a downhill slide.  Shame for all the Warhammer 40,000 fans.  It was fairly evident from the start though, the team really had very little MMO experience and they even now lost that with the loss of several key members.

My suggestion for fans of this game, don't have unreal expectations and take it for what it is.   If you think it will be a full MMO you are setting yourself up for major disappointment.

Seems to be the funding mechanism for most of these small indie games, charge people to test their game.  Just a dumb idea for anyone doing such for most of them.  You are looking at multiple years before they are really playable if they survive that long, most won't.

I guess these games are our new testing bed for new ideas.  The biggest problem with concepts like a karma system is figuring out how people will abuse it.  Sad state of affairs that you have to approach everything that way.

I wish them luck, they will need it.

The moral of the story is, if you don't have a clue how well designed pvp works, most certainly don't design a game where pvp is in the forefront.

My condolences for anyone who invested in this game, the chances that it will get that much better and slim and none.

Sorry Beau, but trash games like that really are not going to get many favorable comments on this forum.

Boy this article really brought out the trolls.  The laughable part is, they attempt to call the writer a troll when it is obvious who the troll is.  By the way trolls, if the game charges you to play it is released despite what the studio may say.   If you can't figure that out,  I guess you will just continue to troll away.

No one's MMO list is going to match what others like, there are just too many of them.  This is a discussion forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion.  I certainly don't agree with everything on his list, but then just my opinion.

I will say this about H1Z1.  Smedley tried to entice the zombie slayers with his new game.  I complete agree, it released in January.  I think the major problem with a game like this, you get extremely bored just killing zombies.  Despite Smedley's claims, that is just about all the game offers right now.  It will need some huge changes down the road to become successful.

Have to wait and see how their system works.  Their campaign areas need to be really big otherwise it will be just another in a long line of gank fests.  This game will not be for the solo crowd that is for sure.
This and Cabal 2 are nothing I would play, but there seems to be a lot of interest in them so there seems to be fairly large group that likes this sort of game or they would not be making games like this.  About all you can say is play what you like.

I also want to point out that since almost all weapon skills, class skills, world skills, AVA skills, are available to a player and can be trained at the same time that the skill bar must be limited.

Think about it.  You can't have a game where a player can learn 95% of the skills possibly available and not limit the given number that can be at use at one time.

This is not dumbing down for a console, it's forcing you to prioritize which abilities you want access to.  Otherwise you would be insanely powerful.  The limited bar is really part of your character build with the ability to swap and customize outside of combat for different situations.

Sorry, II have to completely disagree with your response.  It most certainly is dumbing down of the UI so it can be played on a console.  It is so obvious that I find it hard to believe anyone could believe otherwise.

Secondly, Eve has had a single server for 12 years.  Certainly not a big deal.

Not bashing the game, just that a minimalist UI is a negative for most of us, not a positive.

Well good to see the site supporting a decent specialty PC maker.  I build my own, but a friend bought on of their computers and loves it.

Most computer stores sell junk when it comes to game machines.  Most of the name brands cut so many corners to get the price down that they are basically unexpandable without major expense.  For example most of the name brands put cheap power supplies in their computers, hence if you want to upgrade to a gaming graphics card, you must upgrade the power supply too.  That is not even mentioning how many of those computers rely on the Intel graphics on the cpu chip which is horrible for gaming.

in ESO consoles lack in many places compared to pc. It won't replace pcs for a long time.

- There is no customization. ESO is addon-topia, though you can't create addons for the consoles. But the game needs it. ZOS does not provide in several areas of the game.

- no typing, no roleplay, no free choice of voice tools. You're limited to the stuff ESO provides. No chat trading, no advertising, no chat lfg, no chat help. No chat is severely limiting in any MMO.

- most consoles run on TV. You can't carry it to your friend, can't watch TV while playing, can't send your mate to the TV while you play

Consoles are consoles and pc are pc. Different things for different times.

I wonder if a game feels MMO at all without chat...

Some really far fetched reasoning....first of all, how ADHD are you that you need to watch TV while playing an MMO? Hell, for that matter who even watches TV anymore, my TV is going to be playing ESO, if I get bored I guess I could fire up Netflix, or Hulu on my PC, not sure why I would want to distract myself from the game though.

If I am at a friends, or a friend if over we are usually experiencing real life, or playing two player on my console in a game, i'm not going to ignore him and play an MMO.

ZOS is going to provide a couple of the Add on's they felt added to the game, the rest are just putting the game in easy mode, you know same reason on a PC you have console mode in most game, and consoles you don't because PC player can't help but cheat.

Oh and no annoying spam from gold sellers, and random stupidity from trolls and noobs, scrolling at a hundred miles per hour in my chat window, sign me up now!

I expect that the local chat will be for the most part ignore, and that the group and guild community will be all the better for it.

Most of you have not been around long enough to remember when MMO meant like 20 to 100 people on a server at a time. The community back then was awesome, everyone knew each other, everyone knew who was worth dealing with, and who to ignore, and if enough people ignored the trolls and d bags they eventually moved on to another server, or another game.

Perhaps in a community of limited communication that will be the way of things again.

PC is better at some things, but consoles are better in others. Get over it, get on with your life, and stop trying to make crap up to feel better about the fact that your mommy wouldn't buy you a new gen console.

He nailed it and your basic reaction is to belittle him?  How nice of you.  I found your counter arguments to be quite weak to what he said, your primary argument was to make fun of him.   Personally I have played the game on both and it is much better IMO on the PC.  Like huge differences, not minor ones.  Oh and btw I have been playing MMO's since they came out and never remember playing with 10-100 people on a server.

A 1.6gb download?  No thanks.  Must be some benchmark tool lol.

Dear Christina,

Let me clear this up, how many consoles have a mouse keyboard attached?  Not many.  That should immediately clear up your confusion.   The PC version will remain the definitive version for that very reason.  Controllers just don't translate very well when it comes to MMO's.

Oh and console players just don't tend to stick around much on any one game, they are always moving on to the next hot game.

You are so very wrong. The controls for ESO transfer very well to a controller.  I loved the feel of the game play through my PS4 controller almost as if the game was built with it in mind....

Sorry but I have to completely disagree.  Controllers are fine, but extremely limited in what you can do with them.  Every  game I have seen that operates on both platforms, the console options are dumbed down for the controller.  Granted, games designed for the console tend to pass on the limited options to the PC version.  The console version of this game will be quite limited compared to the PC version just because of the controller.

If you are content to using a limited skill set, I suppose that might work for you, but for the rest of us, it is quite obvious, the PC version is much better.

Can you specify these limitations? Other then the "Add Ons' that the PC player currently have the console version will have everything the PC version does, and they are incorporating some of the more popular add ons where they can.

As for controls I spent four days on the game, and leveled to 20 on my sorcerer with zero control issues.  In fact I was amazed at how smooth the controls were, and that I could remap the keys.

I really don't think you have any idea what you are talking about.

If there are no differences how come the game servers will be separate?   The only thing I can think of you have not played the PC version.

Consoles work great for many games, not so with MMO's or even RPGs.  Take for example Dragon Age Inq, had the console version first.   The PC version is light years better and easier to play.  Mouse and keyboard trump a controller any day in the week, hands down!  So yeah, I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about.
