As a roleplayer that preordered and supported the game from launch, I still get the shaft because I focussed on bringing the world to life through storytelling. It shouldnt matter what I did with my ingame time, I still paid exactly the same as anyone else.

Thanks for nothing Bioware.

I have to agree. Even though the recent change made me eligible for the free time...it really should be given to those who have continually paid since launch..regardless of any level. Especially for an offer so soon after launch. Then do a promo in a year with even better rewards based on consecutive months subbed. Like I've said before...imo....Money is loyalty for an MMO. (especially with a monthly sub)

Thanks for the info. I didn't know this had been changed. People tend to shout the bad stuff from the rooftops and whisper the good with this game.

This changes very little.

How so?

Because you still need to have at least one character that has finished Act.1 to unlock Legacy. So you need at least one char to level45 or so.

I have about 8-9 chars with several of them around level30.

My BH main is level 45 and into Act 3. Act 1 finishes anywhere from about 30-33 in my experience. I have 8 characters..45,32,19,22,14,14,13,12. Legacy level = 9 .

IMO this should not have been posted as an article, this is not innovative, it has been done in WOW before. See here: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/wrath-of-the-lich-king-zombie-plague-covering-azeroth/

MMORPG.com seems to give this game more attention than it deserves.

It's an event going on in the game that just started. The game is an MMO by classification and MMORPG is mainly about MMOS. I see plenty of other MMOs in their headlines. It's a plague themed event which..yes was done in WOW after it was done in other MMOs. You're not telling anyone anything they don't already know. *edited as to not seem snarky*

The best one was the unintended plague in WOW ..before the intended WOTLK precursor zombie plague. Some raid had a boss that cause a health sapping plague . (This is all as I remember so I could be wrong..you can try googling the event). Anyway the plague was not meant to travel outside the raid but it did just that via infected hunter pets. It spread through major cities and was so remarkable that apparently the CDC or some government agency studied its spread in hopes to glean some insight into real epidemics.

I've got to step in here.. While you're right that some of these fan reactions can get a bit over the top. Star Wars was great to many for one reason, characters. While some performances were campy, (luke, Leia) some were very memorable. Much like Firefly IMO.

There was a level of serious talent portrayed in the original trilogy that was missing in the prequels. Namely actors the caliber of Peter Cushing, Alec Guiness, Harrison Ford, David Prowse/J.E. Jones, Henson/OZ. Even with medicore directing, these actors and their performance demanded your attention when they were on screen. Couple that with the exotic nature of the OG's you have the makings for a lasting franchise sure to gain the attention of many fans.

Actors the calibre of Dave Prowse? I'm guessing you aren't from the UK Distopia otherwise you would know that the biggest thing Dave Prowse did before SW was the Green Cross Code Man adverts on TV. I'm sorry but as soon as you placed his name alongside Guiness et al. your argument made no sense to me.

David Prowse was an excellent  Frankenstein's Monster in that one movie. And a good...well..whatever he was in "A Clockwork Orange"..lol

I'd forgotten his Clockwork Orange role. He was the bodyguard of that guy the Droogs beat up I think.

Yes. He was dressed like an extra in a  Village People video. I thought he was in Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger too but that was Peter Mayhew in the golden Minoton suit.

No offense OP but people who feel like you make people who enjoy the game have much more fun. we are slowly getting the children out of TOR and the more mature players are flocking to it.

Gratz

If you're the example of the "mature" players "flocking" to the game I'm worried. The OP had valid points and the same points brought up by others. I had similar concerns but will not be leaving the game because there are others things I do like. When I voiced similar issues  others gave me answers ..perhaps stuff I was unaware of for one reason or another. They lessened my concerns on several things. You basically tell the OP to GTFO..more for the rest of us. For the first time...despite all the hate I see in these forums for TOR...I have a feeling that SWTOR...a game I really enjoy ..might not last as the "millons" are driven away by the players themselves.."mature" players like you.

When I voice similarWh

Obviously you have not read the patch notes.  You can go to the PvP vendor on the Republic and Imperial Fleet and buy a full set of blue "Recruit" PvP gear for nothing but credits.

This gives you enough PvP stat (Expertiese) to hold your own in any warzone.  It is the equivilant armor of the old Centurian gear with the Expertiese stats of the old Champion gear.

You can outfit yourself (every slot) for under 150,000 credits.  You are going into warfronts with green PvE gear when this is easily available to you and complaining about it.

I'm in a guild with several people who just hit 50 and they are enjoying the ease of entry that this new gear provides to warzones.

Nice. I was ignorant of this fact. Now if only I could hold on to my credits long enough to save and buy some starter gear. Self-control is lacking..lol.

Well, in that case, you really need to loook for another game, maybe outside of the mmo world...

Perhaps you need to look for another forum. Outside of the mmo ones because thats what he's talking about here.  He has problems with changes to an mmo like many others.

To the OP. I agree . I noticed that I could barely damage shite and virtually no rewards or credits. Where before I had high damage with my BH and could at least make some cr's and comms. Not the best by far but occasionally I'd even break out the highest damage of the group and MVP a few times. I still like the PvP..it'll just take a hell of a lot of time to catch up as I stopped doing for about 15 levels before the patch. Now I'm 45th level with no PvP gear and  just a few comms built up....so it'll be a grind.

Then again...I stopped for a while so I might just be rusty.lol.

I'm pretty sure they didn't can the entire SWTOR development team. I'm sure other games and developers suffered as well. Voted worst company overall also didnt help their stocks any.

I've always said I've noticed less population .....but i still enjoy the game and hope it remains for quite a while. No Star Wars MMO will ever fully live up to the expectation of fans of the IP.

I think any MMO going under is a bad thing. How many of you can revel in loss is beyond me. There is plenty of shit out there to play.Pick one  or go wank yourself silly in a corner somewhere while imagining your perfect mmo.

So I played the first month then didn't subscribe because SWTOR isn't good. Not as a mmo, not as a Star Wars game, not as a RP game, not as a space combat game, not as a 200+ million dollar game, not as a Bioware game, not as a overhyped game, not as an exploration game. In a fair world Bioware should owe me 70 euros.

I wasn't level 50 after a month, yes in Bioware's eyes it makes me a loser, I'm sorry, I'll run as quick as I can to the ultimate goal of top level with the sheep flock in my next mmo, I promise, to be considered a dedicated player. But I read about the free week and reinstalled it to see the changes since beginning and try to rescue the poor souls still trapped in my guild.

Alderan. 11 people on the planet. 5 guys left in my guild (from 36). Empty large depressing Cantina where I logged off 3 months ago. Big empty city. 2 droids moving 10 meters to and fro. No ambient sounds. Take the taxi to the next quest hubs. Mobs standing still by threes or fours moving their limbs and head sometimes. My commando character has obviously too long legs compared to her trunk and her moves aren't fluid. Go through water. No swimming. Camera under water gives a grey water surface, wtf. Kill mobs, return to quest npc. What next? Depressive mood. Trying to get excited and find reasons to play. Maybe an instance. Because mmo's are about running instances right? But first, walk 50 meters from the quest hub, jump between a rock and a tree to get to a node. Stuck in the air jumping, crucified on the tree. Can't move anymore. Blocked on a damn tree 30 centimeters above ground. 200+ millions dollars. Uninstalled.

My lasting impression of SWTOR: I feel like a fool wasting time and money because I trusted them to do a proper mmo and they didn't deliver at all.

I can send you a 7day friend referral . Just in case..in a few more months... you want to play a game you hated 4 months ago ..and again this month.

For those too put out from getting infected..they've had rakghoul virus vaccine at the medcenter droid vendors for quite a few days. I had been wondering...before the event...what they were for...now I know. Judging by the posts here...many will whine and complain about having to buy them @ 2000cr ea and scream BIOFAIL yet again. Anyway.. now you know how to get them without running dailys on tatooine if you weren't already aware.

Let's put some numbers to the servers. Now none of this is scientific so, whatever. If some of you have more knowledge about this, than please correct me.

Light = 250

Standard = 500

heavy = 1000

very heavy = 1500

full = 2000

Now, TOR has a total of 218 severs. If every night at peak playing hrs all those servers were at full, then the amount of people playing would be 436,000. We can see though, that's not the case. There are many more light and standard servers both NA and EU than heavy, very heavy or full.

So what does this mean. It means that at odd server hrs, the majority of servers are light with a few standard and there would be around 54k to 55k playing at that time.

What this shows is that, even if every server 24-7 was at full, TOR at the most would only have that 436,000 playerbase actually playing. If we also go off of the 1.7 miilion subs that Bioware said they have and divide that by the 218 servers, that would mean that a full server would hold 7,798 players. We all know that the game has never had that many players on a single server, so, in my honest opinion, and that's all this is, TOR is tanking. Taking into account that they have some other mmo's coming out in the very near future, The game may even drop much further than it is now.

But...to use the dreaded McDonalds as example. When the McDonalds sign says 5 billion served..they don't mean at the same time. Nor doesn it mean that if  x number of McDonalds existed  then 5 billion/x= how many served at each MacDonalds. A server may have the potential of 10000 people that chose it to play on....but only 750-1000 or so play at any particular time. I don't doubt 1.7mil active subs at one time...I just doubt that many were playing simultaneously on any particular server except the known (by players) few. I also doubt they have that many active subs today. All in All ..it doesnt really matter...I'm having fun.

Bio gives away free time to practically all the former players; former players come back to see if 1.2 is worth coming back to; this time next week the servers will be back at their Standard to Low capacity, with The Fat Man the only server ever to touch Heavy.

Wrong...flat wrong jedi Convenant went full, Fatman had a 35 min que, several others, just cant remember their names. MOST were standard.  BTW, Standard is what you want for server stability anyway.   Keep trying tho Im here all week to help with the misinformation.

Wow, you can see into the future? You're amazing! What's next week's lottery numbers?

Huh?

Here, let me spell it out for you: If you read my original post instead of spewing your fanboism all over the face of this forum, you'd notice that I said, and I quote, this time next week the servers will be back at their Standard to Low capacity, with The Fat Man the only server ever to touch Heavy. You replied that I was flat wrong - how would you know unless you're an amazing future-seer-who-sees-things-in-the-future guy? Do you actually know for sure that next week the servers will be jammed packed? No, you don't. I believe the odds are more than good the servers will be back down to their previous deadness prior to Bio's game-time-giveaway-extravaganza. Try to keep up with the rest of the class.

Technically...you're just guessing too. No less a "Nostradamus" then the one you accuse.

  I happen to THINK the pops will drop back too..how far..I have no clue . I hope I'm wrong. If I'm not then I hope they don't drop too much as I still enjoy the game. Then again..despite the drop since launch I've never had much of a problem On "The Ebon Hawk" server.

http://www.swtor.com/server-status

Useless scale is useless.

They could name their population labels using drink sizes and it would have the same effect. Small, Medium, Big Gulp, Super Big Gulp. Do I know how many ounces are in a Small? Nope. I just know it is tiny relative to the others. In their defense every MMO does it and it's pretty darn frustrating that they can't just post the actual population of the server.

Oh..I agree with you completely....but thats pretty much what any screenshot would show and it was easy enough to find. That was my point.

I think we'd all be surprised (pleasantly or otherwise) by actual population numbers from all the MMOs. It's all talk. I just find a server that's good for me and go.

An agent and bounty hunter trained smuggler combines use of cover and dual wielding choices for story purposes.etc.etc.etc. I have a back-story in my head for every relationship. Took about 10 minutes of daydreaming total.

The game doesn't have to do..or explain everything for you.

i dont have anything as eblorate as yours(which was really good by the way ) but i had fun imagining the different relationships between my characters. even inadverently made my trooper in a relationship with a consular before realizing its the same as satele and jace malcom XD.  gave them a smuggler son. an agent rival for my trooper, knight ally for my consular, BH son for my knight, and inquisitor rival for the knight.

It's it's own kind of fun. What's nice is you can change them around if you think of another backstory. No reason to..I understand...mostly for the hell of it. It would be cool if in future content..maybe they throw the image of your enemy into the cinematic. With the quest chain ending in a battle versus a bot version of your enemy character. (of course he'd get away but you'd get some kind of reward..or even a legacy reward at the end). I realize it would have to be a "generic" bad guy story because any class would have to be able to fit into the circumstance but I still think it would be cool. Go even further...you team up with an ally or spouse to complete a quest chain. Your legacy connected character could be a companion style bot. Again...cool if it's possible.

While it will be nice to role play a sith pureblood with other classes, it would have been nice to add more races eg: wookies,trandoshian. It's not like it should be hard to do. You don't even have to hire more actors. Wookies always roar and trandoshians always hiss. Just add subtitles on the bottom like they already do in this game when you talk to a non-english speaking species. Problem solved.

Exactly. My characters seem to understand everyone .lol. Characters can speak whatever with subtitles.

I was looking at that quest ( that starts the plague quests) in my ledger yesterday. Couldn't remember where I picked it up. Now...I can't wait to get off work and participate. Sounds like a blast.

She is at least more tolerable than those way too hot girls and their pandering 'I love geeks' BS.

very true as well

you want ot idolize a gamer chick and droll over one at least do it correctly! Faye Mata is 10 times the gamer and twice as hot! From a female gamer perspective those like Faye Mata and Kat Gunn are the ones that deserve it.

 Yeah...but she also looks like she could be one of those thai lady-boys.
