Mythos: Frogster Shutting Down EU Servers
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/19/11 1:06:35 PM
This game was really awesome when Flagship Studios was holding the reins. When I went back to play again under Frogster, the magic was gone. Too bad too, it was quite a gem of a game. |

I was lucky enough to win 2 keys from the various contests going on. I don't want it to go to waste so I'd like to offer it to a fellow FF fan. PM me if you're interested. I don't want to just give it away to a random person but I'm not exactly sure what I should do to find the best recipient... So maybe you have a clever idea?? |

Fury: Editorial - What Happened to Auran?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/13/07 2:33:57 PM
I must be in the minority, but during beta I really enjoyed Fury. Granted, the learning curve was steep, and the competition fierce, but after I got to a decent level, the game was really fun. What I most disliked about the game was its ridiculous systems reqs. My computer was top of the line a year ago, and I barely pulled 30 FPS will Fury on low settings. The graphics weren't that great to begin with. If you want to build an all PVP game, you better make sure that it runs flawlessly. I think this is what turned a lot of people off from the game. It took about 2-3 weeks of daily play to get used to the game and level up to be competitive, but after that I couldn't wait to get off work and play. It wasn't worth it to me to buy the game and pay a monthly fee, but now that it's going F2P, I'll be playing!

Here's an opinion of somebody who's actually played the game for more than 20 minutes.... (read: 2 months) It's true, you need a beast of a computer to run it at full blast. I have a pentium D 2.8. 2gigs memory, nvidia 7600gt. not a bad system. Above average i'd guess. Well I have to turn settings all the way down and still only get 20-30 fps. But hey, it's an excuse to upgrade for me :) Gameplay is truly unique. There are no classes. You have the choice to use every single ability in the game mixed and matched all together. The type, rank and strength of an ability give it an "equip value." As you "level up" you are able to given expanded equip value. This allows higher level players to equip better armor and more, stronger skills. You can change what abilities you take with you in between each battle. Be a healer one round and a fighter the next. There is an endless number of skill combinations. People get turned off by the game at first because it has a fairly steep leveling curve. it is very intimidating when there are 4 schools of abilities and 100's of skills in each school. But it just takes time to figure out what works together and what doesn't. That's half the fun to me. Queue times are excellent and always have been. Ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. With an average of 2minutes has been my experience. I always queue up as soon as I leave a battleground and the queue is up before i have time to visit the mailbox or buy a new spell. Very little downtime.
Combat is fast paced and in the beginning when you can only equip 4-5 abilities of course you are going to be spamming the same one over and over. But when you reach rank 8 or so and can fill up you whole ability bar with attacks, heals, roots, shields, buffs, teleports, charge manipulations, etc, etc the game takes on a whole new aspect. You have to really be on your toes and think sharp to know what button to press when. If you just spam attack attack attack you will die in an instant. You gotta play smart.
Load times and increases in FPS are the only 2 things I hope Auran can drasticially improve before release. But again, maybe I just need a newer computer. I would highly recommend this game to anybody. It's new and innovative. Just get to rank 3 or 4 at least before passing judgement. Auran, you might want to consider tweaking the learning curve in some manner to hold new players attention. |
