What I find to be absolutely shocking is not that SOE signed a deal with them. However, it is that Ping0 did - You know that new game that just released back not even two months ago, Hellgate: London? Yeah, Ping0. Flagship Studios may have been the development arm, but Ping0 is the support arm. I find this absolutely disgusting and abhorrent behavior for any pay-to-play MMO.

Also try to check out Office Max, Office Depot, and Staples in your area (especially this time of year). There are always office furniture on sale at any one or more of those stores - Often netting a huge savings on exactly what you're looking for, if you time it right. You may even wish to look at their websites, to see if anything matches your needs.

Also intel is releasing their 45nm processor aka Penryn , I'm waiting for these two release b4 I build me another rig.

Which also means that the new chips will be supporting the very new DDR3 RAM, which runs at double the speed of DDR2 - 10.xGB/s vs 5.xGB/s.

I would just voice an agreement to wait until sometime in Q1 or even early Q2 2008, if you can hold out that long - You will save money in the long run, catching technology at the edge and lasting you longer, with higher performance.

You've got some serious issues if you somehow derived all of these assumptions from his 'thank you' post...wow.

I really dislike it when someone quotes XFire game stats. Not everybody uses XFire or runs it constantly when they are playing a game. Some games like Hellgate have an XFire login built into the game client, but for those of us who don't use it, it doesn't really increase the accurately of the stats for that title.

The only thing XFire stats show are what XFire members are playing. Period. It does not show how many people overall play game ABC compared to XYZ; it only shows what their members play. It does not indicate how popular games are. And even their own stats are skewed because you cannot guarantee that each game has an equal number of XFire members playing them; not to mention that some games' time commitments are completely different (FPS like Battlefield 2142 verses an MMO like EverQuest), so time spent playing them will be at different ends of the spectrum.

But not everyone uses Xfire, such as myself. So how accurate as the statistics? I mean, I suppose, they are accurate in showing what Xfire users are playing but it does not indicate or gauge the player-base for either Wow, or Hellgate, nor any other game. The statistics only prove what portion of the Xfire community is playing.

Yeah I just looked at my EA download Manager with the game preloaded and it said "0 days 20 hours" for release...Seriously, WTH? Midnight +01 is release, not the afternoon of release day...

Yeah, we bought our pre orders from the EA store as well (just because we wanted the dye kit color). I really cannot fault them, however, as they are bound legally to only release the software on a specific date set by the game's owner. So, we too, are sitting with pre-loaded software just sitting on our hard drive, unreachable/unplayable.

If FSS is opening the servers for pre-orders and the beta players, they really need to coordinate this action with their pre-order partners, a'la EA, Walmart, etc.

Get to it!

" Hey everyone. Sorry for the short notice, but in the next 15 minutes or so at 1:30PM PDT, you'll be able to hop into the game and start creating characters. At 5:00PM PDT, the game will open up to everyone else. This goes for both the US and EU servers. Get to it!

More updates to follow..."

I'm subscribing but not making a guild. My girlfriend is doing the same. Unless creating a guild will give us some uber cool option that isn't available elsewhere, then we will just stick without a guild.

When Blizzard builds Diablo 3 they will absolutely keep the attached IP to it and call it Diablo - It would be dumb to not use that single strongest selling point: The name.

So I am *slightly* anxious about playing this game. So much so that I had been "farming" the demo with two level 5 characters: just repeating the available instances. Doing this gave me some good insight into droprates, respawn mechanics, the crafting, socketing of mods, etc - So it wasn't a waste of time!

My question is, two-fold:

1.) Will you be able to revisit any previously beaten acts/content, with the same character?

2.) Is the entire game spawns dynamic? Meaning mob levels, item levels, etc, are they geared toward your current level no matter where in the game they are located? So for example, if I run back through the first instance but at a higher level, will those creatures still be level 1 and dropping level 1 gear or will they dynamically increase in level to match mine?

Excellent! Thank you both for your detailed responses! Helped me out tons.

Can we apply the dye kit as many times we want, or is it a one-use thing? Meaning, if I dye my armor ultra-cool pre-order color but pickup new gear some levels later, will I be able to dye that new gear the pre-order color as well?

Its very simple, none pay monthly fee, and within a week or 2 we all get the stuff for free. Too bad theres so many suckers

Goodluck in thinking that the paid for content will be available for free within a week or two - The game's subscribers would cancel. And if nobody subscribed they would not be able to sustain the infrastructure and support to continue with the game. This is pretty much how all MMOs function: Require a constant stream of revenue to continue operations related to the game (bug fixes, new content, support, maintenance, etc).

Furthermore, I don't think that I am a sucker for subscribing for new and/or exclusive content (nor anyone else who subscribes). Nobody is forcing you to pay the subscription fee. Nobody is even forcing you to buy the game and play it. Don't insult those who wish to do so; respect people's decisions, especially when it comes to their money. If you have an argument, then state it and back it up with facts (which your, thankfully, short post was entirely devoid of).

umm so waht is the "new content" that im getting every month in world of warcraft?

nothing changed since last month, but i still had to pay a monthly fee....

my dog could create that much content in a month....and i dont have a dog.

so tell me apart from the stuff thats already packaged in the game....where is my monthly sub value worth of content?

is it  all the  new players tha lollercopter round each realm?

logically i cant equate my monthly sub to new content....

all i can equate it to is server maintenance & administration.

becuase after i paid money for the first box then the TBC box...im pretty sure those paid for the upgrades and new content.

But then again if i open a theme park and charge everyone a one off fee, i being a selfish prick would not keep opening the doors each day if you didnt keep paying me to.

simple.

or is it the festivals that happen without patching?

Not that this is the WOW forum but there has been a very good amount that has gone into the game after the TBC expansion. Honestly, WOW is the absolutely worst example to put up here complaining about monthly fees; they have put a TON back into the game in the way of instances, items, PVP content, web functionalty (armory, etc), voice chat, etc.

Nobody promised you a monthly content update for your $15. What they did promise (as a majority of MMO content providers promise) is that there will be constant updates to the game. Most of the big name MMOs deliver on their promise for new content: LotRO, CoH/V, WOW, etc. Hellgate is probably one of the very few companies out there telling you an exact content schedule (before you decide to subscribe or not): Something new every month and something huge every quarter.

What you (and your dog, evidently) don't realize is that building content for MMO games takes months of work and thousands of man-hours to deliver (from concept, to design, to programming, to testing, to tuning, publishing, and then support). Somebody has to pay for that amount of work done. If you are reaping the benefit of that content, then chances are it is you that is paying for it.

The fantastic thing about the monthly fee MMO model is that you, as the consumer, have the power of decision. If you don't wish to give big old bad MMO company XYZ anymore of your hard-earned cash you can simply cancel your subscription. And you can even choose to only pay them when new content is released that particular month.

In regards to Hellgate: London. If you don't wish to give them money, it is OK. Honestly, nobody is going to hold it against you for not paying FSS. You can spend your lunch money elsewhere. But just remember: you get what you pay for.

"Duke Nuke'em Forever" = Longest development cycle in the history of the gaming industry? Seriously though. Haven't they been working on that thing since like immediately following the original Duke Nuke'em?

G4 is like the original MTV: They stopped doing what they originally set out to do, long before they should have. Just like you now have to have ten MTV stations, just to find an actual music video, there will soon be a G5, G6, etc so that you can actually get a channel with real game news and reviews!

I will make a vote for some songs in WoW that I've heard. Most notable for me are:

1.) Ashenvale - So emotional, fills your senses, and you can 'feel' the music as it plays - Feels very much elvish.

2.) Thunderbluff - Wow! This has such a unique sound to it that I had to include it.

3.) Most of the Inns - Most notable: Brill (Undead newbie town).

4.) Undercity - Walking into the city and hearing the music, then hearing the faint actual sounds from previous Warcraft cinemactics (Arthas, the King's speech, etc when you step into the throne room), very cool.

Although not an MMO, I have to throw in some of the absolute best music I've ever heard in video games, period:

1.) HALO series - There is hardly a rival that can compete, IMO, to this absolutely amazing soundtrack (all 3 of them!)

2.) Mechwarrior 2 - Just absolutely amazing music for its time - Made your heart pump!
