I too get the urge to go back from time to time, then I check the english speaking european servers, at prime time the numbers are roughly 40! Yes 40 people on at prime time :( Is it possible for us europeans to buy the american version of the game and play on US-servers now? I know it was troublesome doing this at launch... |

You are full of crap. SOE does a great job with both EQ2 and Vanguard, over time changing them for the better. Of course the NGE was a disaster, but I believe Lucas art had something to do with that as well. Anyway I really can't understand how so many can be so upset for years over a game. If you are going to get angry with companies who slight you you will be forever angry with every single company there is. But yes, NGE was a stupid move but looking at EQ2 and VG and also Smedleys comments on the NGE I believe they have learnt their lesson. Oh and I am most certainly not a SOE fanboy, I just play the games I find fun, no matter if it is MS or SOE or whoever who is behind them. But I get so annoyed that every single thread boils down to "SOE is crap they will ruin this game". |

I play on Antonia Bayle and I am an RPer, but I would have to say if you only behave normally and just avoid being rude you should be just fine on the rp-servers too. Just don't go around and destroy other peoples roleplaying and you are set. RPing to me is to try to stay in character, but /tells are often ooc as are most guildchats. |

Sure you can play Guild wars for that but EQ2 is vastly superior and Vanguard is kind of nice too... Great answers, I look forward to release! I don't really like to play betas since they ruin the first impression of the game (since it is in fact beta and more often than not an unfinished game - doh!) |

What you could do at max level besides pvp/economy? Faction grinding, or rather helping your faction hunt pve notorious pirates and other nations ships. More land based adventure perhaps. A well developed crafting system could also keep you occupied at max level. But I am encouraged by what you said about advancement even at max level. If this game is going to be in the SOE Station pass sub, I will buy it straight away, otherwise I will probably wait and see... |

Thank you, Some more questions then. Is there any reasons for having alts in this game? Also, am I correct in that when you do get to max level you can't customize your character in any way, apart from with different ships of course? I mean, for a lot of people I would expect some sort of character development to be important even at max level. |

1. How is character advancement handled? What happens when you level. 2. When you reach level 50, can you still further your character with more skills etc? 3. Any endgame besides pvp and "economy", that is any pve activites and max level? I read somewhere that the devs wanted this game to be viable for both pvp and pve players but most people seem to focus on the pvp, so is there any pve besides leveling up? For example gaining faction and getting rewarded for that etc.? |

I started to play yesterday so these are very much first impressions only, but I played a little in beta about a month before release. Compared to beta this game is hugely improved, I thought it sucked only a month before release. Now I find it very fun indeed. One strong point is that it seems to be possible to pick up and play for half an hour and actually do something, if this is true later on remains to be seen. It seems to be lacking in depth though, but it is a new game. The feel of constant danger and being under attack is superb. It was overhyped though, according to Lord British this was supposed to be revolutionary to the MMORPG genre, I have a very hard time seeing that. I am very grateful though that it is not in first person, since I usually get motion sick from fps-games, must be that I am an old git :) |

Much much easier on newcomers. It is a complex game, but EQ2 easies you into it. |

Indeed, Anarchy online is great if you are into SF. But as with DAoC it is getting quite old. However the best part about AO is that it is not dumbed down and it has a great skill and class system. I would really really like them to make a AO2 but with space flight built in as well. |

Ryzom is closing down, very sad about that. If you like lots of classes and making choices when you level then EQ2 is great but WoW could also be a choice WoW also has better pvp. Otherwise, if pvp is a priority I would suggest you try DAoC even if it is old. Sandbox games are rare and Ryzom was one but with that gone, if sandbox is a priority I would suggest Vanguard. But only if you have a good computer, it is a much better game than the reputation it has. |

Thank you Daemon, exactly the kind of post I was hoping for! Only problem is you got me interested in the game and I don't have enough time for another MMO, argh! |

The best system so far for this is the EQ2 system, where you have your local server cluster pre-chosen but you can easily change it and patch up the other one as well (in EQ2 the choice is between EU and NA servers). However, this is still not as bad as it could be, at least they won't hinder us from buying overseas versions of the game or trying to block the credit cards depending on where you live. I would say this is far from the superb EQ2 solution but it is acceptable. |

I would say a much more interesting question would be, is it as good as the best pay to play games? That would be the only interesting question to have answered for me, as I prefer to pay for quality instead of playing sub-par games for free. Also, I suppose that when this game goes live there will be an item shop etc. and then it really is not that free to play anymore is it? Anyway, since I have not played PW I shall not beat down on it, instead how would you compare it to say, WoW, EQ2 or Lotro? |

I have to say I am worried about this buyout, but this is still a very good post and as you say it makes the whole deal very logical. More threads like this please! |

Originally posted by openedge1Exactly! This is one of the reasons I don't play Lotro anymore, eventhough I have a lifetime sub. The thing is, these games should give you choices. Like the talents of WoW or AAs of EQ2, make you take a path that will give you some abilities but at the same time leave you without others. Choices Turbine, I want you to force choices on me! |

You seriously think Planescape torment had sub-par storyline? Heck, what rpgs do you consider having good stories? |

Oh yes, I miss Earth and Beyond too :( When they close these things down the least they could do is release the code for free so some clever community members could pick it up...well never going to happen in this day and age... |
