If you scroll over it says Elyos, I just didn't realize the picture they had, needed to be scrolled over, sometimes I miss things that should be obvious.

Sounds, interesting but what race are all of you going to be playing as, 'mains'.  Or has that yet to be determined.

Aion, while it has a focus on PvP, might be what your looking for.  I've heard that the PvE content is really well done as well.  I cant say for sure, cause I haven't played it beyond level 20 yet.  (I guess I level slow and the beta weekends just aren't long enough).  It's a newer game though, and the Templar is definetly the tank class your looking for.  Also if you don't mind spending the money Runes of Magic is a F2P game with a cash shop, and it's mainly compared to wow, and it is supposed to have great end game PVE and a lot of content for a f2p title.

Well thats my 2 cents.

Not 100% sure, but I think it's another patch, and I believe it's the first NA that you get both Asmodyians and Elyos (not sure on spelling) but I dunno.  Oh and the Abyss!

Thanks to everyone, gonna buy the parts recommended tonight, after I do some deal shopping on the internet see how much it'll be and go from there, hope to see a lot of you in Aion in a coupld months.

The card I ended up putting in my 'wishlist' cart, on newegg is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814150403

I thought it looked like a better choice, and it's benchmarks on tomshardware we're better.

Also I am using, Windows Home Edition build 5.1 I'm not sure if thats 32-bit or 64 - bit.

However, I amgoing to format it and install a 64 bit edition of Windows XP.

And this is the HD that is on my list as well

so far I'm at around 350ish.  Which is less than what I wanted to spend, and I am fairly certain that I will end up with a new case and powersupply as well.

I looked it up, and my computer can use, Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*  According to Crucial.  I don't quite understand why, I cant go above 1gb per slot.

Anyways, I found these on newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145153

I could either buy 2 of them, or 4 since I have 2 open slots anyways.  Which would be a cheap upgrade.

Thats one of the video cards I have been looking at.  Anyways thanks very much.  Maybe I can get some of this in before the next beta, and I'll get to play. :)

Thanks for the info, I have built a few computers.  Not recently though, at least 4 years + has passed.  I just haven't had the time to really get into tech stuff, but definetly thanks.  I'll do some research on what I can do with this,  I am using Windows XP Home Edition.

BTW in Terms of RAM, How do I figure out what RAM I will need? I know that a long time ago I bought PC2700 or something like that for a computer I built...  I'm sure that has changed a lot.

Than, perhaps I should look at just throwing a couple hundred bucks at a Video card?  and Maybe a powersupply since I have no idea what the wattage is on this computer.

I want to build a computer that will be more than capable of playing this game.  I don't require the best computer ever, or anything completely over the top.  I would like to max out the settings for Aion though.  Is that going to be at all possible for under 500ish USD?  Also, where should I start at and would it be easier to upgrade what I have?  Unfortunately my computer is a dell, and I've heard that dells are hard to upgrade for w.e. reason I'm not sure, but the specialist at my work said that I shouldn't bother.  My computer right now is about a year old, and it if it helps here are my specs.

Processor: Interl (R) Core (TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40 GHz (4 CPUs)

Memory: 2046

Page File: 848 MB Used 3090 MB available

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256mb

It's a Dell Inspirion 530

Also, I could possibly spend more, just not a lot more, I'd say about the most I'll have between now and Aion release is 750-800.  Maybe it's not really reasonable for me to expect that to be enough to play a newer game maxed out, I understand that and if thats the case go ahead and say so.  I have quite a few friends who will be going to Aion, and I am pretty positive I can't handle it on this rig.

So I decided while at work early this morning that I was going to come back to AoC, like many of people I left early in AoC's life cycle, however I honestly left becuase I frankly didn't have the time for an MMO, not becuase of the game itself.  Anyways, so this morning I put my debit card info in on the funcom site, it accepts it, my bank account has been charged, and on the website it says the account is playable, but in game it says the account is frozen.  Does it take a while for the two, to connect to each other or something?  Is this normal?

I respect your opinion, I suppose customization is part of what makes RPG's fun, and the UI is just one of those things, in an MMO that a lot of people have grown accustom to being able to tweak to look the way they desire.

For me, and maybe it's becuase I have stayed somewhat uneducated on the UI's available for a lot of games.  The UI is just not that important unless it clutters up the game to a point where I'm staring at UI instead of what is going on.

among other basic UI things, i wanted to try the game but they decided to make it look good but play like crap =(

Gotta admit for all the years i've played MMO's it's been about 10, I've never really cared about ever doing anything to my UI, except when raid leaders forced it upon me.  I've seen some UI's for WoW that we're decent and WAR, but just not my thing I guess.

I've played so many f2p games over the years I can't name them all, I mean it's probably 50+ titles at this point, but a few days ago I finally got around to downloading Requiem, figured I'd give the f2p genre a go once again.  So far I've been nothing short of impressed.

The graphics remind me of lineage 2 a bit, (which is good).  I love the blood effects.  The classes are diverse, they multiclass and branch out sort of like lineage 2 as well.  However, I think thats where the similarities to L2 break off.  So far there are quite a few quests, I'm level 15 and I haven't ran out of things to do, I've been able to upgrade my equipment, and I've actually found quite a few 'magical' items for myself off of killing mobs on quests.

The game lacks the huge tutorial that most games have, it kind of throws you into it to figure out most things on your own, which depending on how you look at it can be good or bad.  However, since this is my opinion I liked for once not being thrown around on tutorial quests for an hour or so to basically find out that it controls almost like every other MMO out there.  However I suppose if I was new to the genre I would've liked a bit more of a tutorial, (I don't think many people new to MMO's have even heard of Requiem though.)

I found the sound to be decent, I liked the way a few of the mobs sounded when running towards me.

I can't judge the community as of yet.  Which is the biggest deterent I have seen from really getting involved.  I've seen lots of players, from the looks of it the population on my server is about as healthy as some of the average wow servers, maybe a tad less.  I guess the difference is there are only 3 of those servers instead of 150+ wow NA servers.  However, I've only talked to one of the players i've seen so far, partially becuase with a free acount you cant use the region chat.  So being relagated to General chat, which I believe has about a 50-100 yard range around you, means you have to be pretty damn close to someone to say anything to them.

It might take just finding a guild you like playing with to really get into this game, but so far for a free to play MMO, it's definety one of the better ones.  It wont draw the type of crowd flocking to the cute anime style games, and will never have the huge demands of AAA titles, but seems to have a decent 'cult' following, and I am going to be part of that cult.

Thanks for the links and everything if I was smart I would've noticed the huge DOWNLOAD NOW thing huh...

Simple question, if I resub to AoC is there a place I can dl the game for free? I left the disks at my parents house when I moved out for school 9 months ago, I want to come back to AoC as I cant find anything else worth a damn to play right now.  however,  I'm not about to go dish out another 50 bucks just to install it.

Cabal comes to mind, it's descent for a f2p grinding game.  It does have quite a few quests though, but you can manage to get by for the most part, especially 20+ by just finding a place and anhiliating mob after mob after mob till you ding a few times, then go get skills and rinse and repeat.

it's only the worst game if you're an emo PVE carebear looking for dumbed-down, repetitive gameplay where everybody, no matter how retarded or poorly skilled, "wins". Most trolls fall into this category. Why else are they so desperate to see Darkfall perform poorly? they are scared that WOW will realise they can recapture their massive subscriber losses by replacing their epix with full lootz.

Hmm playing WOW with full loot, imagine the tears....

More money to be had with targeting the "carebear" group. And Darkfall needs to succeed, so that all the rabid fans can stay in that game and stop bothering the rest of the world.

Ah, yes pvp games where you to can go kill the guy 10 levels lower then you and have your ego caressed becuase you 'own'.  I for one think full loot is retarted.  Especially in games where loot makes or breaks if your character is worth a damn.  That and most PvP games are just haven's for gankers who Power Play themselves to the top and cream everyone and anyone who has a life and doesnt have the time to play all day everyday.  Tie that in with the fact MMO's try more and more to be a job at a home that will take every waking minute of your time, and you have people who come home and don't want all the work they've done to be lost becuase some random guy they've never met decided to go lowbie hunting again.

It's so annoying listening to the hard-core PvP fanboy's, you guys just run around thinking your so cool, and your hard-core and everyone else is 12 years old, and needs to go home and hug their teddy's.  Ya know, maybe you should come meet some of the people face-to-face if you want to full loot them, and see if you end up being looted.  It's a game, I can accept if you want to have fun w/ the full loot thing go ahead.  Quit trying to act like your some-how the top of the class MMO-players though just becuase you and a few buddy's got together to randomly target guys half your level.

All I can say is almost every full-loot pvp game I've seen come out, has been totally unfriendly to new-comers and hardly ever grows after the first month or so becuase no one can enjoy the game except for those who climbed their way to the top at the start.  Then those guys spend all their time harassing the little guy and feeling good about it.

Well the specs you listed are all much higher then the recommended so... My guess is it would run fine.

Thanks for the Screen's, ya thats a bit better then what I'm getting on the trial, the character model, seems alot crisper.  Thats good to know.  Thanks again.
