In WoW I was a huge proponent of the LFG tool. In Rift not so much, heres why. WoW since TBC especially is basically 75% instances either PvE or BG's and 25% world. Beyond quests the world in WoW offers nothing but nodes to swing at for your professions. Rift however, well it's only strong point standing against other modern MMO's is rifts, and the game world, invasions, and all that. The instances are not bad, but their basically just like every other games. Why put in a tool that may see more of your players especially at max level never seeing your main selling point because they become obsolete as everyone sits in town waiting for their new dungeon? In fact I'd argue that somehow Rift has to figure out how to make rifting the way of character progression at end game, rather than instance farming / raiding (same idea) because quite frankly it doesn't stand against the other MMO's right now in that area. Honestly if I wanted to play tank + healer and 3 dps vs. random mobs for some shiny loot at the end their are games much better at it then Rift. Especially given that loot in Rift looks very bland for the most part. Given today's mmo community where progression is all that matters, it's always the carrot on a stick approach, maybe Trion should focus on what it's game does well, and figure out how to capatilize on it. From what I can tell instances are not what it does great and I think the LFG tool may bury the content that it does well as people will be busy sitting in their capital cities waiting on queues like wow rather than actually doing anything in the main world. |

I picked up a box of rift last night tried to redeem my code so I could play and I get a message telling me they can't redeem my code at this time. So I try again this morning and the same thing happens. This happening to anyone else? Do I just have to wait to for their system's to catch up, or am I going to have to spend a long process with them on the phone or emailing to get my game to work? |

I really havent made elaborate at all, that was of your own freewill. I do get it though looks like I will run rift just fine. Thanks for the help though. It was appreciated.

Originally posted by Meridion I asked mainly because I had read on numerous sites, and forums that AMD/ATI components have had issues running Rift. I think I stated that. Yes my computer isn't that old, but it's not a beast either. Also, I hadn't heard that you could run the game on 3 y/o computers with no problems on medium. |

Thats excellent. I'm hoping I can get by for a month or so before I upgrade my video card. Medium settings is fine enough for me. I hear the game looks incredible. :) |

I think the 5850, 6850/70 seem close enough to each other in benchmarks. I'll probably get the one that is more cost efficient when I go buy my parts this week. (Yes sometimes enu's prices shift very quickly). In my personal experiance I've liked ATI cards better than Nvidia. I've had two Nvidia cards both burn out in under a year. With basically the same conditions my ATI cards have lasted much, much longer. |

At least on the site I'm at theres like 130 dollar difference between the 6950 and the 5850 |

HAF 932 Black Full tower NoPS I think from what I've gathered this seems decent. |

Your right I did forget to link my power supply I can afford to get the caviar black, to be honest I didn't really know there was much of a difference. It actually looks like it may save me money to go the route of something like this instead Asus P8P67 LE Aud/GbLan/SATA6Gbps/USB3/1394/RAID ATX Core i7 2600 3.4GHz 8MB LGA1155 Onboard GPU

Oh and I am building a new system entirely. Video card is the last thing I have to figure out. If it helps so far this is what I have. Asus Sabertooth X58 Aud/GbLan/SATA6Gbps/RAID/1394/USB 3.0 ATX 12GB(3x4GB) DDR3 PC10600 1333MHz Matched Kit Crucial Core i7 950 3.06GHz 8M LGA1366 Retail WD 1TB 64M 7200 SATA II Caviar Green LiteOn iHOS104-06 4x Blu-Ray/DVD Reader Black SATA OEM Also windows 7. |

From reading this and the scouring of the internet I am doing, I think I am leaning towards the 5850 toxic that they have. The computer I have right now has a ATI 2600HD pro w/ 256mb so I should see quite a bit of a difference no matter what I choose. |

The local store I try to support has about 4 cards in my price range 200-250 dollars. The only Nvidia Card is a GTX 460, The Other options include Sapphire 6850, Sapphire 6870, and Sapphire 5850 Toxic. I'm not sure to be honest if I'll ever need SLI/Crossfire as I mainly play MMO's and from what I've seen there isn't much there thats going to push me into needing two video cards. |

So I've been doing a bit of research / reading reviews on my own to try to figure out which video card to get. My initial reaction after speculating costs, was the Sapphire radeon 6850 but I noticed that the 5850 was getting a bit better 3dmark scores. Would it be better for me to kick out another 40 bucks or so and get a 6870? I don't quite understand why the cards in the older line up would be performing better, but from the little bit I've gathered it seems the 5850/5870 out perform the 6850/6870, could anyone explain to me why this is, and what is the purpose therefore in going w/ the 68's instead? |

I stopped playing AoC for two reasons; None of my real life friends could get into it, and In the 50's at least in my experiance the game just bored me, seemed to not have much content for 50+ but admittedly that was a long time ago, I'm sure it has evolved and gotten better since then. I always thought AoC was a pretty good game, and I still hope it does well, but for me if my internet buddies, and my friends aren't playing a game I probably wont either. |

Lol, you think because it's happened before it WILL happen again. Of course theres a chance of the customer support going downhill, but some companies just get it and they may be one of those who do understand that customer service is important. |

Well, the problem is 'next gen' is sort of an subjective term when it comes to MMO's. People have their own ideas on what they want in a game in the first place. I think for the WoW-esque gamer, and in the traditional sense of MMORPG's you can argue that Rift looks like it could be a step in progressing what traditional MMORPG's are. For those who think 'next gen' means you completely change everything in the old formula and it has to be something way different their are a few different games coming out that do look like their trying that sort of thing, I think of Tera and Arche Age when mentioning those. So much opinion stated here is looked at as fact and it's actually sort of funny. XD |

Have not played beta, but I am really interested in playing it, and am more than likely going to be buying a new computer and buying the game on launch day cause from all i've heard it seems like what I'm looking for, of course in this day and age with MMO's theres a great chance it will fail epicly. I really hope not though we need more games to be competitive in this market, it strikes change in the industry. |

I live in the United States, I do own decent speakers, and honestly I'd like to get new everything but my monitor is fairly decent if I am unable to. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229227 I've been looking at that as an option. Oh and sorry, yes I can build my own I have in the past it's not a lot of work, I just really don't see it as saving all that much money in the end after the price of the OS especially. Which I'm using an old copy of windows XP right now and want to upgrade to windows 7. |

I'm looking for a Desktop that will run me between 1000-1200 dollars. I want to be able to run LOTRO at hopefully max, and RIFT at least medium settings. I would rather not have to build it in the end. If anyone can point me to a good deal that'd be awesome thanks. |
