This looks cool, any idea if it's open PvP?

OFC..

1 big server for all..open world pvp.

Too bad.  The heavy PvP focus is why i never really got into EVE.  WTB PvE sci-fi game.

I would like to point out that the game currently has 6 islands. Three inner islands (alpha islands) and three outer islands (beta islands). The three outer islands are also called the pvp islands.

The three inner islands are safe, pvp there only if you manually flag yourself for pvp.

See you on the battle field! :)

Well, to be fair to the PO Devs, they never stated that the amount of EP that is given can be spent on one character, and one character alone. I strongly suggest that someone who is active in the PO community, has a voice that will be heard over the people who can't see how wrong the EP bonus is..

to have the devs/gms look here-

If the EP bonus really isn't that big of a deal, and to prove that it isn't just a money grab for multiple subs/accounts, have the EP bonus made to be split up across the 3 possible characters per account. That sounds like a perfect way to encourage the sale of the early access as well as take care of any over-the-top gain it might cause by letting the EP be spent on ONE agent.

rough estimate here-

agent 1 hits 16k cap limit of free EP spent, the flag is tossed, said agent can't spend anymore early access bonus on this character. in order to redeem the rest of the early access EP, He/she needs to make another character on the said account !!!

Here is a break down on how Perpetuum accounts work. This will answer your questions.

A single Perpetuum account has three character slots. You spend Extension Points (EP) to install and upgrade these extensions. The EP Pool is per account and not per character.

Example:

===========================================================

If your account has two characters and you have 1000 EPs and speed 100 EP on Character A, then switch over to the character b on the same account your EP pool total will show 900.

===========================================================

So for early access you get a 1 week head start. (Lots of games do this for pre-order) and 4 weeks of extra EP in your account pool.

This means the extra EP from your purchase of Early Access can be spent on any of the characters you create on the account you redeemed the early access code on.

If you want to spend it on a single character then you can do that too. It is up to the player.

The EP is not restricted to a single character, but is to that account.

So to break it down a bit.

They have their development servers for staging and QA and then from there, a push to the production / live server. Currently the live server would be Beta currently.

Well, there really are two servers. and two clients. You have the Live server with the regular client used by players. There is a DEV server and a DEV client.

SO they don't just pump out patches to the live server.... they all go to a DEV server first.

Probably misunderstanding on my end...? I understand Live (server) to be something that was released, also referred as production server. If the Live server reference was meant as something else...

The game wasn't released yet thus no live/production servers.

As far as I know the players in closed best and open beta have been playing on the server that will become PROD/live server on release.

Meaning they do their own Q&A as well. I'd like to think they don't just pump out the patches and patch them straight to the live client.

There is no Q&A nor live client. There is only testers, test servers and test clients.

Fantastic! TY!

Does RAM useage go up if more on-screen windows are enabled?

Not that I have seen.

No problem if you say your video settings are maxed then in the pictures then they are.... No reason not to believe you as far as I can tell.

Hey ellisdtrails,

In your pick of GW: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/6825/proper.png

Do you have three separate accounts to log in three times? Also did you screenshot this picture before it finished rendering the screen?

I ask because in the picture you can see a few people talking but they aren't visible.

Yes I am running multiple accounts, logged in on one system. No, the reason you can't see the people rendered is because they are hidden by a set of stairs in the guild wars pre-searing town of ascalon. However, you can see their chat bubbles. Sorry for the confusion.

"Yeah mine uses just barely over 1gb for one client when deployed to the terrain. 450 to 500mb when docked."

Care to post a pic? docked and un-docked?

You gave me +respect in some thread a while back so you can take my word on it I think. I don't see any reason for a screenshot.

Also, did you have your video settings for GW maxed or a bit lower then max? My GW maxed video opetions runs at 510mb.

Oh and GW across three 23" widescreen monitors looks very nice!

Edit: corrected some spelling.

Not sure why you are worried about how much ram three clients use. All games use different amounts of ram. Since game site recommends 1gb of ram for a single client running... I would guess it does take 1gb of ram per client.

Sorry, It must have got lost in all of the chat, but I'd settle(post #7) with just one client running in a pic!

The reason I'm concerned is, the perpatuum site specifies:

MIN. 1.5GB RAM

REC. 2GB RAM

http://www.perpetuum-online.com/Client_download

With that said, if the user has no idea how to "tweak" or "streamline" his/her OS (kill processes not needed) They will just barely make the RAM requirement. That may cause problems.

I'd still like to see a pic like mine taken from an outside souce with the perpetuum.exe running, logged in, windowed, showing task manager > RAM useage.

I'm not going to go into complete details on how to compromise a site or a persons private info, but...all one needs is...meh. i'll not go into it at all. If you people trust the way the site is set up, it's all good. I however have seen what happens..

This would only send the info to the owner of the email address.

Has there been a way to change fourm log-in information making it different than in-game log-in information? or vice-versa?

You know many companys do this?

Look at Perfect World Entertainment.. You use you're same log in info to get onto their forums.. and PWE is a very big F2P company.. Battle.net even requires you're log in info + CDKEY..

Dosn't seem like a real valid complaint LOL..

Hmm, I wouldn't really call it a complaint. But it is a question I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to as well especially with all the things that went on with WoW and Aion both with the massive account thefts for awhile.

Your game login and forum login are the same for any account. So this is how it still works...

The email / password you use to log into the game is the same you use to log in to the forums and account info on the website.

So, something that was taken 6 months ago, and I ask for a newer updated pic, makes me a troll? or were you refering to someone else?

anyone could have taken that screen-shot and posted it, claiming it's theirs (of course it isn't looking at the PB account). I'm sorry, but I'd just like to see a current pic, especially if there were current updates to the graphics AFTER that pic was taken...

I am not at my gaming rig right now so I can't get a newer shot for you at the moment. I can later on tonight.

There is no multiple graphics card support for this game. I was reading a post on perpetumm that said the game does not support multiple cards but it uses memory from all available cards. That doesn't seem right. Why would a game's coding allow useage of memory from all cards when it doesn't support them?  Something seems terribly wrong there.

It's using the memory for textures.  This keeps the cards from using your main memory for textures.  The more textures you have on your card, the faster they load and the less lag you have.

I don't think displaying the game on multiple monitors is supported or maybe it's the Eyefinity across 3 monitors with 180 degree viewing angle that isn't supported.

I run my rig with BGF gtx 260 MAXCORE x 2 with surround gaming enabled pumping out to three 23" wide screen monitors and I can display the game across all three monitors.

I'm fairly certain it doesn't work.

(hehe, yes I know I'm talking to a GM/Dev)

Is what you are doing enabled in the current game client?  i.e. If I had a decent rig, would I be able to run that?  I couldn't find the post that referenced the multi-monitor on the forums but I thought there was something on there saying it ~could~ work, it's just not ready for public consumption yet.  Or is it just that the Crossfire/SLI implentations are kind of borked?

Nothing in the game client as been done to support it. TBH, most games that dynamically read the rigs resolutions is all it needs to do. Some games that have not optimized there stuff for this, can get an fish eye effect. I use in Darkfall, EVE, Perpetuum, Bad Company 2 and they all have a bit of fish eye on the left and right monitors.

If you have two cards like Nvidia 200 + series cards they support surround gaming.

You enable the surround gaming in the Nvidia control panel and it sets up the resolutions for the surround gaming. All you need to do in any game after that is under the video options select the one of the surround gaming resolutions you want to run the game with.

That is it.
