Thanks for the reply MadDemon64, I don't believe I had anything else running but I could have now that you mention it. I'll have to make sure that only the program is running. I have been telling people to check this game out. One person has started playing and they didn't have any problems so I could have had something else running. It was just frustrating Sort of hard to promote a game if you haven't actually tried it yourself. |

This is common for a lot of games. It is a feature provided as a service to the new players of a game. I know you wanted to help your GF but once you leave these areas thats it for that partcular character. Even if you had the best intentions this is a safety feature to prevent others from going back for the wrong reasons. You had only good intentions to help other players which is very comendable on your part. If everyone was able to go back to the starter areas there would be some players that would abuse this feature. It could be used by some players to pick on the new players and it was put in place to prevent that abuse. The games that don't have this safeguard usually have other features in the game to prevent high levels from picking on new players. Like special servers for new players that prevents PvP or when you go outside of towns you and your teammates get a personal copy of the outside areas. The answer to your question about what's the use of a guild if they can't get to a lowbie to help out? There is plenty of use for a guild. Higher levels can still give lowbies advice and suggestions until they get through the starter areas then they can meet up with them to start helping them from that point on. Plus this gives the new player some confidence that they can actually play the game. If you were able to meet up with a new player from the very start. This may give the new player the feeling that they couldn't play the game without you being there every time they want to play the game. At some point they need to be able to walk on their own. Even if its for just a little while. |

I was just curious as to how many potential players this infininity loop has affetcted so far? I downloaded the game and was ready to give it a try. From the trailers, the info that I read at MMORPG and the video review that Massively had done about the game convinced me to try it out. When I clicked to start the game it detected a corrupt file. I waited a few more minutes for it to check the files. Low and behold there were no corrupt files. So I tried it once again it detected a corrupt file and the process has gone on and on. So far everything suggested to me hasn't worked. It really looks like a nice game. Nice character customization the ability to play 6 or so different races, 24 or 28 different professions or classes. The ability to play for the side of good or to go try the dark side. Looks like a good basis for a good crafting system. May need to provide a few more options in that department. But I don't know myself, still haven't actually gotten to play it. Does anyone have some suggestions as to how to handle this problem? I have downloaded some kind of supposed fixing program that didn't work. I saw one idea about renaming some loader file but didn't understand the part about going in a bin file . Ahh well if I can't find some help soon I'll have no choice but to move on. Hate to try something else without at least giving this a try.

I have a friend that plays Gods War and he would like to know how to get a pet. He has tried and tried but just hasn't been able to figure it out. He would be thrilled to know how to do this. Could anyone explain how to do this? I know he will appreciate your expertise on this matter. |

Finally, took a min to find the right code to work. This is known as a jingle bear in case you couldn't read the letters. The sparkle text may not be easy to read in this size. Hope you like the screenshot.

Originally posted by Man1ac Haha, I like that expression. Yea I know what you mean, if they don't appreciate a good old ranger, we'll punish them in PvP
Thanks Man1ac glad you liked it. Anyways I'll try to share a screenshot of a new pet. In this year's Wintersday they added special quests in Eye of The North. These were similar to the ones in Lion's Arch. After you completed all four quests, there was a special reward for rangers. You had to go to Gwen's garden and you would be able to find this pet wondering around. There was also an animal traner close by so that you could trade your current pet for this new one.

Originally posted by Man1ac I love the ranger class as well. I can pull mobs to my henchies, heros or real teammates. I can run people to where they need to go provided I've have it on my map. The bows allow for me to act like a sniper from long range or be effective at mid or close range as well. It's just a matter of choosing the right bow for the job. Interrupting is a very effective tactic, used wisely it can cripple the monsters ability to attack. When doing PvE you learn to try to have a balance in your skill set especially going into new places. Poison can be effective in certain cases but what if your opponent is impervious to poison no skin or flesh. If all of your skills revolve around poison solely then you better have a lunch packed for the battle. I'm not saying it is impossible to win the battle but it will be a hard fought battle in any case. I'm smiling as I say this because I think we all run into this situation at one time or another. I like the ability to own pets and have a companion in the battles. My pet is my guardian in battle and with the right skills can be a very powerful guardian. You have a wide range of pets to choose from and you can even accquire special pets as a reward for completing special holiday quests. I have just acquired the legendary barrage skill and I'm looking forward to incorporating it into my arsenal of skills. |

Am I the only one that doesn't play much PvP?
Lion's Arch (General) « Guild Wars 1/09/09 5:53:01 PM
There are a lot of people that don't PvP much. A lot of people in my guild including myself concentrate on PvE part of the game. I do AB for faction points and the special PvP areas are fun during celebrations. Tried a little hero battles noticed in the daily tournaments every one seemed to have the same sin build. I didn't know what that was but didn't take long for me to lose. |

Shinigami Thirteen [ST] is looking to add new members. We are a small guild of players looking for new and vetran players alike. We are a European based guild so the times that most of us are online may be a little different than US based guilds. We do have US players in the guild. We mostly play player vs enviroment helping each other with missions and quests in game.We also dabble with some player vs player aspects of the game as well. Guild members have been known to alliance battle, play in random battle areas and take part in some hero battles. As far as guild battles that is something we haven't tried much of to date. We are a friendly and helpful group of people just looking to expand our membership. That way we can help more people enjoy the game and have some fun in the process. We don't pressure our members to earn faction points in order to keep your membership in the guild. All we ask is that you stay active and have fun.We want our members to learn more about the game and enjoy yourselves while you are learning. If you would like to contact me just drop me a line at: sonjee@games.com. Just let me know your ign and I'll add you to friends list. To all the players have fun and have good journeys during your travels throughout the game!!

This is in reply to Serlings post above. Just wanted to ask Serling did you enjoy doing the missions the first time around or did you think it was work? If you enjoyed the missions the first time around then you should enjoy them the second time. With your vast knowledge you should be able to breeze right through them again unless you had significant help with them the first time around. It usually takes me more than one attempt for some missions. Even the ones I can breeze through on my first attempt I usually go through them again to get the bonus that I didn't get the first time around or to help other players get through the mission. I don't have a problem with doing missions over again. If I plan to do a mission over again and a new person needs some help with that particular mission I'll help them out. I want to help others enjoy the game better and it makes the community better also. These story books were made intentionally unlike the EOTN books. If they had wanted to have them exactly like the EOTN books, looks like they could have done them the same way It seems like the intent of the story books is to get people to do the missions again as was said in other posts on this topic. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they have to have some reason for doing these books different than EOTN books. There has to be some train of thought that you don't see. You could just ask ANet if they had a reason for it or if it was just an oversight on their part. |

Hi Aseenus, I had fun at Wintersday! I had a blast from the snowball PvP fight to the candycane weapons. I enjoyed it all. I didn't get to complete the special quests given out because I didn't have some of the areas mapped but I had fun anyways. That can be something to shoot for next Wintersday. I even made one of my screenshots my new Winter avatar. :) |
